  1. "He puts ketchup on his steak?!? Agghhh" *Calls Any Reid* "Ok, we'll accept your trade up proposal."
  2. Maybe the Bills felt like a loss or losses at other positions, like OL or WR for example, would have a bigger impact or drop off than at CB, so they chose to keep extra guys at those positions. Defense starts up front. Secondary has been a strength for the Bills for a few years now, but their overall success relies on the front 7's ability to create pressure and stop the run. Losing arguably your 4th best secondary player is probably less impactful, for this team and defensive scheme. McDermott does has a bit of a track record of getting production out of DBs that weren't drafted early. Next man up.
  3. That's pretty much it. Unless PFF has a rating.... I guess you could watch every ST play, and grade his performance on each one, then grade the overall ST performance by the unit on each play that he's in for, and compare that to their performance without said player, and come to a reasonable conclusion on the player's effect on ST.
  4. I felt very confident that the Bills would be pretty good this year. Common sense would have lead most football fans to believe that the Bills would be at least a bit stronger as a team than they were in 2018, and with the way the first half of the schedule was laid out, I thought that the Bills had a good chance to be 6-2/5-3 at the halfway point, giving the players confidence going into the tough back half of the schedule. Common sense in the eyes of the national media is that the Bills won't be very good, simply because they're the Bills, and the Bills were proving them to be right for years. We all know that most national media outlets don't really pay close attention to the Bills due to market size and lack of success or star players in the past. They're starting to pay more attention now, but for years, their general knowledge of the Bills was minimal, so it shouldn't be a surprise that most weren't very high on the Bills this summer. As for Bills fans and complaining/whining, it's the same with every team. There are so many different types of people in the world, and different perceptions and perspectives. We're always going to hear/read idiotic and knee-jerk comments from certain people no matter what happens. It's best to simply ignore the stupidity, or laugh at it.
  5. I've been all over this NFL season (LAMP self-pat on the back). Before week one, I told a good friend that the Browns had too many "characters" within all that talent, and that they would eventually be compared to that Eagles "dream team". And here we are... I also said the Bills floor was 9 wins this year, among other correct predictions this season. I should be rich right now, but I'm not sneaky enough to slide several Bovada bets past the Mrs.
  6. He is still a good player. His stats do not reflect his play and effect on opposing offenses. What I have noticed, though, is some reluctance to "punish" the QB. It started back when Clay Matthews was getting those ticky-tack roughing the passer calls that made waves throughout the league. IIRC, Hughes made some sort of comment about that back then, and ever since then, I've noticed him "pull up" several times, just before I think he's going to deliver a hit on the QB. I don't necessarily view that as a bad thing. It certainly has had an impact on his sack numbers (he led the leauge in QB pressures last season, I believe, but few sacks). He has adjusted his game a bit to help avoid getting those penalties that Matthews was getting, while still creating pressure and forcing the issue on QBs. I haven't noticed him "losing a step" yet, and think he will be allowed to ride out the rest of his current deal/extension in Buffalo.
  7. That hurdle was the first time that Nance and Romo had said about Josh they'd never seen that before from a QB. Today, he made them say it again. Hopefully there will be more in the future. And if the Bills continue to play good football for a while, they'll have plenty of opportunities to have Nance and Romo call their games.
  8. That, and perhaps the 49ers will tune them up a bit beforehand.
  9. Finding a franchise QB trumps all of that IMO. For once, the Bills actually positioned themselves to take a gamble on that elusive (potential) replacement to Kelly.... In hindsight, it's easy to say that the Bills would be ok if they didn't trade away picks and instead drafted from the list of players in the OP, but back then it was still guessing. And many of those players look the way they do because of the team and system they play in. They all wouldn't necessarily be the same player in Buffalo. That may be especially true for Lamar Jackson, who has Greg Roman as OC and is having his 3rd go around with a mobile QB in the NFL as OC. That would also mean going into 2018 with AJ McCarron as starter. No one knows how he would play as a full time starter, but there's a reason he hasn't cracked "backup duty" other than due to injury in the NFL. So if we can use hindsight here, it's pretty safe to assume that the Bills probably aren't doing too much damage with those young draft picks and McCarron. McDermott may have afforded himself an extra year by making the playoffs in year one, but his job still hangs in the balance of the results on the field. I have a hard time imagining the Bills winning more than 7-9 games last year with McCarron/Peterman/insert journeyman, and probably a similar record this year. Before you know it, it's 2020 (year 4), and you still don't have a franchise QB or success on the field. McBeane get the ax, and many of those prized players that were drafted with all of those picks (instead of being aggressive and hedging your bets on a rookie QB prospect and MLB in 2018) get tired of losing and "same ole Bills", and end up leaving in free agency the first chance they get. Instead, the Bills stuck to the plan that they started with, and so far, it's paid off.
  10. Thanks, Virgil! About the announcers; Spero Dedes has called so many Bills games over the last few seasons, but I think he's only called two Bills games this year (yesterday, and the Titans game iirc). He's usually pretty good, but he slipped once yesterday by confusing a Bills player with a Dolphin player that wears the same number. Also (I don't remember if it was him or Archuletta), one of them said that the Bills bye week was coming up soon, which obviously is incorrect. I also wanted to mention that I thought we were about to see "The Hit Heard Around the World" part deux on an early swing pass to the flat by Fitz (that was nearly tipped at the line) that was well played and timed by the Bills defender (Milano?).
  11. About the same drive for me. Tickets were as low as $28 a couple of weeks ago, but I couldn't talk myself into going, with all the extra spending that goes with the trip. OP, it's not hard to find Bills fans to tailgate with when they play in Miami. And I'm sure there will be a bigger Bills contigent this year, with the state of both teams.
  12. The offense is to blame first. He needs to make those kicks, but the offense needs to do a better job, so that it doesn't come down to a struggling kicker. I was a fan hiring Daboll for the type of offense he brings, but his play calling and lack of feel of the game has me second guessing (often...). He seems guilty of forcing things when he doesn't need to, and over-thinking things. For the second week in a row, he called the exact same play in similar situations, and paid for it (last week, the jet sweep "toss", this week, the Allen designed run<<<both plays that the Bills have run multiple times this year and last...). ***EDIT: How could I forget running the same exact play multiple times at the goal line last week???...*** He's not fooling anyone. As soon as he starts calling plays that actually move the chains and get Allen into a rhythm, he abondons what was working, and plays right into the hands of the opponent. Daboll shouldn't have had to worry about being out-coached by the Browns, but he essentially out-coached himself. After that, the Bills cannot get out of their own way with offensive penalties and drops. Granted, those drops, if caught, would make Daboll and Allen look better right now... Defensively, the book is out. The Bills over commit against the outside run, and if you stretch them out, there will be daylight on cut backs. Line up with a split backfield so that the defense doesn't know where the ball is going, and cut the run to the middle. Blame Hauschka if you want, but the team as a whole lost the game, and was relying on Houschka to bail them out.
  13. Sounds like youre referring to just road games I'll take that ?
  14. Sort of Bills related: David Montgomery of the Bears just scored and in celebration fake-threw the ball into the stands, then put a finger up, and did the "money" sign.
  15. Daryl Johnston hesitating and saying "Darryl Johnson" was awkward af
  16. Username checks out Hopefully the Bills don't give you (us) a reason to yell at the tv today. Or the refs...
  17. They did make it there the other 3 times they started 6-1.
  18. Philly hasn't had a 100+ yard rusher since 2017. That alone doesn't necessarily mean the Bills are the better rushing offense, but statistically they are. Wentz can scramble better than a lot of QBs and could convert some 3rd downs with his feet against this defense, but the Bills are almost a yard per carry better than the Eagles. Sproles is out. Bills are top 10, Eagles slightly below average. With high winds and possible showers today, the Bills should try to get back on track with T.O.P. by dominating on the line and running the ball well. Eagles D line is banged up (Jernigan out), and misdirection favors the offense if the ground is slippery. I would be surprised if the Eagles out gain the Bills on the ground today (and in total).
