He’s cheap this year and next year before going up to $17M/yr in year 3. But it’s ok, they can get out of the contract next year for only a $20M dead cap hit or the following year for a $17M dead cap hit. So…. yeah it’s not “affordable” nor cheap. There’s no lipstick to put on this deal to make it look good. Unless you just HAD to emotionally have him back and can’t grip that he’s gone, it’s a bad deal. We all liked Gabe. Put your personal feelings aside.

A few thoughts, because I’m surprised by the negative reaction toward me or anybody else who is simply remarking that Gabe Davis was grossly overpaid: 1) I’m glad Gabe got paid elsewhere. I like him and am rooting for him. 2) Saying it is somehow Trevor Lawrence’s fault that Gabe dropped two easy passes is insane. 3) Samuel has not been a good signing yet. What does that have to do with Gabe Davis? Objectively, Gabe Davis has been bad and overpaid. It’s ok to say that objectively without being emotional about it. Some people cried when Gabe left. Some didn’t. Some people are apparently still crying. Wipe away the tears and open your eyes. Be happy that he got paid and be happier that we didn’t pay him.

Samuel signed for 3 years, $24M. Im not good at math, is that more or less than 3 years, $39M?
-
12 receptions on 25 targets so far this season for 159 yards and 0 TD. 3 year $39M contract. Incredible that Josh made him look like a legit #2 WR for so many years.

Fantastic job OP, thank you. My one question is -- how confident are you on the unforced QB errors that the WR had enough separation to make a play without risking a turnover? I assume all of them, but we have heard the past 48 hours that WRs were not getting separation on the outside. Is this a false statement?

This post is consistent with the other fair weather, crybaby fans I’ve seen festering in our fan base lately. I don’t know what happened. When we win 3 in a row it’s SUPER BOWL and if we lose a game it’s I QUIT THIS TEAM. I used to be so proud of our fans. What the hell happened to us.
-
It seems you missed my point. Nearly all of the teams that I mentioned won the Super Bowl.
-
Much appreciated man, thank you! Great point about all the rookies. Nice to see them get some run. Solomon did indeed look good!

If you’re 36, you watched the Giants catch fire in the playoffs and beat an undefeated Pats team. You watched the Ravens win a Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer. You watched Colin Kaepernick make it to the Super Bowl and almost win. You saw a Nick Foles led eagles team beat the Patriots. The point is, if you make it to the playoffs, you have a shot. 3-4 wins and you win the whole thing. If you’re afraid of the Ravens and 1-4 Bengals, ok. I’m not.

Sooo… some of you are not understanding the assignment in this thread 😂

Brutal loss. Please post your silver linings here… there are some good ones. 1. The AFC East is a dumpster fire. The Bills are still a full game up on the rest of the division and the Fins, Jets, and Patriots all look like sub-500 teams. 2. Dwayne Carter has been shining as a rookie. Keon Coleman is TBD but at minimum, seems like he can turn into a good role player. 3. Bernard is back. Taron will be back soon. Von will be back soon. Oliver will probably be back soon. Shakir will probably be back soon. Milano will be back for playoffs. 4. We have a ton of draft capital and cap space to make a move this season or next. 3 point loss to a tough team in which we were down 20-3 on the road. Things will get better.

Carter looked great. I’m not sure what you’re expecting out of a rookie WR, but a 49 yard touchdown is not terrible…
-
Yes, by going 3-1 in the first 4 games and setting the Bills up with a great salary cap situation, two 2nd round picks, three 4th round picks, and two 5ths next year, Beane has set Josh and the Bills up for failure.
-
Sooooo…. Isnt there a clause in most contracts that a league suspension allows a team to void the remaining guaranteed money on a contract?
-
If Hopkins becomes available, would you want Beane to trade for him?

This thread needs to be 100 pages or we riot -
It was a bad call, but anyone saying “FIRE HIM” needs to take a few quiet moments to themselves. Who would you replace him with mid-season? Have you been that disappointed in his performance week 1-3? Is he so terrible that you prefer for Josh to have an entirely new coordinator mid-season and probably new playbook? Chill out. It was bad and they’ll learn from it.

It's a great song and the energy is felt, but I think it might get old fast... especially if we're losing. I've always thought the beginning of the 3rd or 4th quarter should be an instrumental-only version of The Beautiful People or Du Hast. Say what you will about the artists/song, but it would get the people GOING.

Josh Allen vs Patrick Mahomes: The changing of the guard?
Rigotz replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Pat Mahomes has won 3 Super Bowls and 2 NFL MVPs and has beaten Josh in the playoffs every single time, whether it’s Josh’s fault or not. Nobody in the league other than Bills fans think it’s been “1a and 1b” between Josh and Mahomes … sorry. Mahomes has been #1, then everybody else. As of now, 3 weeks into the season, it looks like Josh might finally overtake him, but he needs to beat him in the playoffs first or at least win any type of award that Mahomes has multiple of. That just feels like common sense. -
Non Bill, unheralded, under the radar favorite player.
Rigotz replied to Savage's topic in The Stadium Wall
I always liked Chad Pennington. Seemed like a great dude and he was underrated. Just got hurt a lot playing behind a bad line for a dysfunctional franchise. -
Hmm… a first round corner on a rookie contract with, at worst, upside… Or, a guy who we could have gotten in free agency for 1 year $4M, who is a healthy scratch on a bad defensive team… GIT ER DONE BEANE! RUN ELAM OUT OF TOWN WHILE YOU CAN!

Bills now have the 6th youngest starting lineup in the NFL...
Rigotz replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sam Martin is 34. DaQuan Jones is next up at 32. Dion Dawkins is 30. Everybody else is in their 20's. 🙂 Pretty awesome. It will look even better in the coming years with the added draft picks. -
If Brady has an excellent season as OC, I think we have to think very seriously about elevating him to Head Coach. We can’t keep giving Josh new OC’s every 2-3 years and having some of them show zero creativity.

Rapp and Hamlin at Safety for now. Rapp and Bishop in the future. Cam as the Dime SS for now. Taron as the Nickel when he comes back, which means we play less Dime. As exciting as Ingram was yesterday, he was an Undrafted Free Agent 2 years ago and wasn't good enough to make any roster in 2022 and 2023. He's definitely showing some juice, but implying that he will somehow replace Taron, Hamlin, Bishop, or even Mike Edwards is crazy.

"It's better to get rid of guys a year early than a year late." This offseason epitomized this philosophy and I'm so happy we have a Front Office staff who gets it. Hyde, Poyer, Tre, Morse, shoot ... might even add Diggs in there considering we still got a 2nd rounder for him. Beane gets it.
