  1. For a 1st round pick plus more? That's what Bengals are rumored to be wanting now. That's a bad deal for a 30 year old DE who wants a new $30M/yr contract. If was the rumored 2nd round pick, sure. 1st plus more? Nah.
  2. https://boltbeat.com/asante-samuel-jr-finally-reveals-reason-for-strange-chargers-absence-in-2024 This was news to me and makes me a little cautious about the Bills giving him a huge contract. I wonder if Beane feels the same. Didn't see it posted anywhere else: -- Cornerback Asante Samuel Jr., who landed on injured reserve in Week 6 and missed the remainder of the season, said he has been dealing with “stinger symptoms.” According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, stingers “are injuries that occur when nerves in the neck and shoulder are stretched or compressed after an impact” and can feel like “an electric shock or lightning bolt down the arm.” “Just wanted to make sure for the long run I’ll be good, make sure my health overall is good,” Samuel said. “I wish I could have been out there with the team. It was killing me not to be out there with those guys. But I had to make sure my health was good.” Samuel said he was “born with” this ailment. This season, the symptoms first flared up during practice in Week 1. He played four games after that first instance. The symptoms flared up again after a collision in practice before a Week 6 game at the Denver Broncos, according to Samuel. He said he has felt symptoms in both shoulders, but the left shoulder has been worse than the right one. Samuel said he expects to be ready for the start of the offseason program. He is a pending unrestricted free agent. He said he wants to return to the Chargers. “I love this team,” he said. “I love this city. And I love everybody around here.” --
  3. Agreed, with one caveat. I don't think he pays big money for a 1-tech. We have DaQuan and Ogunjobi (kind of) as valuable depth. There isn't a glaring need. However, it's clearly our biggest long term need alongside Defensive End. I think Beane would be comfortable going into the draft with long term needs on the D-Line in a deep D-Line class and a ton of ammo.
  4. I see what you're going for here, but I don't agree. AJ Epenesa had a ton of production in college, but they figured he had a few extra pounds and if they could shred him, he'd potentially be the best of both worlds - powerful and fast. The problem is he lost all his power. He's still a relatively capable player though, so wouldn't qualify as a bust. Elam is a flat out bust, but blaming it on draft day shenanigans isn't accurate. The "Big Board" is created waaaaay before draft day and Elam wouldn't magically jump up their board 50-100 spots because of something that happened in the 20 picks before him. It was obviously just bad scouting and bad evaluation to figure a guy with elite physical talents and (allegedly) really good study habits can't figure out how to play zone.
  5. Put the playbook on the plane on his way to Dallas.
  6. Before anybody else says it, let me go on record. In honor of Bills MAFIA, I give you the new name of the Bosa fan club. La Bosa Nostra.
  7. Love that it’s a 1 year deal. Hate that he’s never healthy and hasn’t had a good full year in a very long time.
  8. “Nobody cares about comp picks” :::receives two 5th::: ”NICE, comp picks!”
  9. Have you ever dry heaved? It's that. HOECHT 🤮
  10. This is impossible to prove. However, be honest ... have you heard the words "I took less money to play for a contender" mentioned by a player in free agency? I have. A lot. You can also look at players like Tom Brady, Josh Allen, and Pat Mahomes prioritizing the team over themselves in signing team-friendly deals. If they demanded fully guaranteed contracts like Deshaun Watson, they would get it because that's what they're worth.
  11. You can't apply this logic to all players. It's just untrue. These are some of the most competitive people on the planet. You think they don't care about winning? Sure, they want to get paid. Many of them also take lower pay to play for a contender. We've seen countless examples in Free Agency. The one thing all of your examples have in common is they were currently under contract. They weren't free agents, so they could not choose who they go to. If you said "some players care a lot more about money than winning" you'd be a lot more accurate.
  12. Good point. He def should have tried to add an outside WR last year. Someone with very consistent production and pro bowl appearances. I would have even given up a 3rd round pick for him. And bonus points if his last name rhymes with Pooper.
  13. We obviously have different opinions on his potential. I haven’t written his pass rush ability off as a 24 year old still learning the position and growing into his body. You have. Which one of us do you think is being logical?
  14. Maybe you’ve forgotten that he only played one full season of college football and is 24 years old. He’s already an elite run defender, he’s a decent pass rusher, and he has had elite moments. Not to mention, he has never had strong talent around him other than maybe Ed Oliver and 0.5 seasons of an older Von Miller. Acting like this caps our team in some way is just a loser mentality. You have no idea what he’s capable of in the future and he has shown plenty of signs of big potential.
  15. WAY less expensive than what I was expecting! I thought $25M/yr at least. Beane back in his bag. Groot is going to flourish with a legit DE and 1-Tech alongside him, paired with Oliver. The future of this D-Line is bright. Give me 2 more pieces.
  16. Honestly, I feel like he was the best punter we've had since Moorman. Think back to the last 10 years ... who was better? Matt Haack? Corey Bojorquez? Colton Schmidt? Shawn Powell? He had a few beautiful punts last year inside the 5 yard line and some boomers too. It was a money thing. Correct move, but he wasn't a bad punter.
  17. I'm more interested in Joey Bofa. Saw him eating wings at Room 40.
  18. In these situations, you have to ask “why would the Commanders, a team with tons of cap space, great offensive talent, and no defensive talent, let this guy walk?” Something doesn’t sit right with me on this. I wouldn’t touch him.
  19. 1. Other than Josh Allen, my favorite player to watch. Many would agree. 2. With the cap going up, an AVERAGE #2 WR will cost $15M/Yr. Think about Gabe Davis’s $13M/Yr. Over the years, this deal will look better and better. 3. Supremely high character guy, clutch, and dependable. 10/10 extension. A+.
  20. Am I the only person not clamoring for a Wide Receiver? Wide Receiver is not the reason we lost to the Chiefs. We could draft a fast guy and get a veteran for cheap. The $30M/YR contract needs to go to D-Line. Hell, I'd even take a safety and corner with that money.
  21. Very kind of him to break down film from his glory days.
  22. Good idea for the poll, but not a fan of how you phrased it. I think it's a good idea to trade for an elite Defensive End based on where the team is at. I'm sure many agree. Do I think it will destroy us if we draft D-Line in rounds 1+2 and also get a solid veteran Free Agent as well? No. Adding the "or bust" thing makes it seem like the season is lost if we don't do one specific thing. That's never a good mentality to have at any position. Same as the "we need an elite WR" thing last year ... they're not easy to come by and you can always find other ways to win.
