  1. As a person who works in Finance, let me give you the scoop on what this actually means. It means nothing. PE/VC funds are simply groups of wealthy people who are looking to make a profit. A good example is Josh Harris buying the Redskins alongside his friends instead of having one incredibly toxic owner in Daniel Snyder. Same applies to old school owners like Jerry Jones, Virginia McKaskey, etc. Diluting that power and selling to the highest bidder is a good thing. I’ve never been a fan of someone inheriting businesses that are passed down from their “grandpappy” and run by privileged children who don’t know a thing about business or life. Just because something is old doesn’t make it good. PE/VE funds are solely interested in maximizing returns and there is always a high correlation between winning and profitability, so you know what you’d be getting and it isn’t some old egomaniac or his/her bratty kids.
  2. Well, we do have the JAG part correct in the WR core! (Kidding, kidding)
  3. Perspective. Bills currently have the 6th-8th highest likelihood of winning the Super Bowl out of any team in the league. What would you give during the drought to not only have a top 3 QB on the team, but also those odds to actually win the whole thing? Dont wish these years away. They are very, very rare. Especially in a market the size of Buffalo.
  4. Is there a “fast forward two weeks” button on this message board? I’ll settle for mute, but hoping to just speed up this process.
  5. I think the only problem is the assumption that backup QBs are supposed to be good. I could name 5-10 STARTING QBs who are terrible. The best backup in the league is worse than the worst starter. Trubisky can throw somewhat accurately and has some physical tools. That’s more than what you get with most backup QBs.
  6. Jets already in mid-season form, trading for players and then Jets’ing them away.
  7. Completely disagree. Ray Davis was solid. No running back in the NFL would have gotten yardage on those inside runs. There was nothing available. However, I watched him make a play in the open field that I haven’t seen Devin Singletary, Zach Moss, or even James Cook make. Fantastic contact balance and ability to break a strong form tackle. That’s what we’ve been missing from our backs - shame so many didn’t see it. Hopefully we get a clip from Cover 1.
  8. 1. This nickname sucks. 2. He already has a nickname, it's "Big Smooth." 3. Nicknames made up by fans are generally stupid. Let the players nickname each other. That's how it works. Thank you.
  9. F'ing love this guy. Specifically on the contract question, he applauds the other guys for getting paid and doesn't take the bait. Not even a little.
  10. His cap hit is $25M this year, then increases to $44M/yr (!!!!) the next two years. The Jets don’t have the money this year and definitely don’t have it next two years to do this. They overspent.
  11. Someone who doesn’t blatantly stroke the Bills every chance he gets. Have you ever listed to One Bills Live? They have all the resources in the world and choose to spin everything so absurdly positive that it’s cringey to nearly the entire fan base. That’s why the other podcasts and radio shows are significantly more popular. He’s the epitome of an empty suit.
  12. The ultimate “company man” gets his promotion after over a decade of licking boots. Congrats.
  13. I thought it was interesting that he didn't even mention Mario Williams in the "Honorable Mention" section for DE's. Mario had 44.5 sacks in 4 seasons ... including a 10.5, 13, and 14.5 sack season ... to go along with great run defense. Instead, he picked: Ron McDole (34 sacks in 8 seasons in Buffalo) Ben Williams (52 sacks in 10 seasons) I guess he went for quantity over quality... weird.
  14. He was slow before all the injuries. Now another half step slower... I don't think he's the archetype we're looking for. We have a similar guy, but he's younger, cheaper, and (hopefully) has more upside in the future. Funnel those targets to Coleman and hope that he grows this season.
  15. Couple of explanations: 1) The jet ski accident was actually somehow an ACL tear. He had no shot of playing at any point last year, so the Bills released him on injury settlement. 2) He had a bad experience in Buffalo. They under-used him and the Offensive Coordinator who brought him in is no longer the Offensive Coordinator. 3) His contract with the Browns is $1.1M with a 500K signing bonus and 350K roster bonus. That indicates that they might keep him, but it's not heavily guaranteed. The guy was awesome. Had the right attitude. Was just under-used and had awful luck. I don't blame him for hitting the open market and getting the best offer he could get. I'm rooting for him.
  16. Maybe it's just me, but I hate talking about potential injuries for a player. Feels like such a jinx. Can we remove that piece of the poll??
  17. I'll summarize the Sabres preseason game for you so you don't have to worry about missing it:
  18. Thanks for putting this together. I think it's a really interesting conversation. Only one big area I disagree on. 9 receptions is waaaaay too low for Hollins. Yes, he's the forgotten man, but I think he's only forgotten by this message board and most of Bills Mafia. I think he's going to start many 21 Personnel sets as the Heavy X receiver. In other words, if it's a running down (any short yardage down), I can imagine Brady wanting Hollins as the boundary receiver. He's a great blocker and has sure hands. Imagine what they can do with 2 TE on the field AND Hollins potentially motioning inside as an extra blocker. Play action passes to the X out of this formation is good for 10-15 receptions alone. Who would I take from? Curtis Samuel. 70 would be his second highest reception total in 7 years and there are more mouths to feed in this offense than Carolina and Washington.
  19. I think the part of everyone's brain that's broken is the assumption that most teams have 4-5 All Star players. There are 32 teams in the NFL. That means every team has on average, 3 star players. Historically, we have had 3+: Josh Diggs Milano, Tre, Poyer, Hyde, etc. in their prime This is the first year in a while that we can't say it. Most teams DO NOT have two top 10 or even top 20 players. Law of averages, it just doesn't happen. Beane is great and has found plenty of elite talent, we're just in a tough year.
  20. Happy he got his degree, but I feel like Lawyer's mom won't rest until passes the bar exam. She made it pretty clear with the name.
  21. This is very eloquently stated! "Frustrated energy to win a championship" is a great way of summarizing how he might have had good intentions and is usually a good teammate, but still found a way to bring the culture down through his own intensity. Kind of reminds me of Dorsey. He was so focused on being "low positive" to bring his own intensity down, that he brought Josh's intensity down with it. I'm a very excitable person that feeds off of people's energy. I can feel the same genetic predisposition in Josh. Something I haven't thought about until this moment -- it's incredibly important to surround Josh with the right type of energy at all times. We saw the turnaround with Brady and I hope we see the same with a new, more positive and collaborative WR core.
  22. I don't think there was ever a problem between Josh and Diggs. It seems clear to me, at least. The problem was with Diggs and the coaching staff. Maybe it's McDermott, maybe it was Dorsey and Brady, maybe he just didn't fit the team-first mentality. You heard a lot about it, vaguely, by McDermott slipping and saying he's "very concerned" or Dorsey saying "no one player is bigger than the team" or Josh having to step up during the OTA fiasco and say "some players are special and should be treated that way." You could feel it. That's why he's gone. A million times over, I'm thrilled that we got a (probably) high 2nd round pick for him. I'm also thrilled we don't have to deal with this media fire that Diggs loved to throw gasoline on constantly. That was his choice, just like it was in Minnesota and I think culturally, the staff were happy to move on.
  23. The easiest way to determine which posters really understand this team is to ask them their opinion on Dawson Knox. Correct: The Bills paid Dawson Knox $15M ... then they drafted Dalton Kincaid in the 1st round. Dawson is an "in-line" blocker and Dalton Kincaid is not. If that's too hard to understand, I'll put it this way. Dalton Kincaid is a big Wide Receiver. The Bills run more 2 TE sets than any team in the NFL, simply because Dalton Kincaid is considered a Tight End, who usually plays off the line. Dawson Knox took a pay cut this offseason and is by all accounts going to be here a long time. Incorrect: Dawson Knox is not a backup. Dawson Knox's value is not just catching passes. Dawson Knox is very, very unlikely to be traded or cut.
  24. Despite his prowess in the skill, the guy can’t seem to hold his job. 😏
