I have no idea what that means. -
Hypothetical NFL players that could be traded for a 1st
Doc Brown replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
I just think draft capital is a better way of determining how much Beane invested at each specific position. You obviously disagree. I'd do that Diggs trade in a heartbeat again from where we were as a team with Josh still on his rookie contract because of every Justin Jefferson there's a Treylon Burks. Anyone who watched the Vikings knew they were leaving a lot of meat on the bone with Diggs. I'm not even debating that Beane's failed miserably since then when it comes to drafting rookie WR's. I know in his head he was thinking Diggs will be here at least through 2026, Davis can easily transition to the outside WR2 role, and McKenzie can effectively replace Beasley. He should've been looking to draft a WR2 and an eventual Diggs replacement in the 1st or 2nd round going all the way back to 2021. Doubling down at DE was stupid as Colliins and St. Brown for example were still on the board when the Basham abomination happened. He could've traded up to draft Addison or Flowers who were his likely pick before that WR run happened and he had to pivot to Kincaid. I was screaming to move up for Brian Thomas Jr. when he slipped that far. He's failed miserably and the price is we're overpaying for middling FA's who've never even put up above 900 yards in a season in Samuel and Palmer. -
What's the first position the Bills draft in 2026?
Doc Brown replied to Cash's topic in The Stadium Wall
No. The Bills spent draft capital (a 1st and 4th round pick) to address the WR position. Whether or not you agree with the strategy is irrelevant. -

Anytime he refers to something he's learned from David Gettleman my optimism about the future of this team lessens. -

Thought so. I know this isn't what you're doing but I do find it a little disingenuous when people make the argument he's completely neglected WR they leave that trade out and just cite the number of picks at that position rather than the draft capital used to address that position. He gave up a 3rd for Kelvin Benjamin too which worked out swimmingly. My take is that Beane was more worried about WR's in Josh's development than he was once he became elite. Since then he's basically approached the entire roster construction like how Carolina built their team in 2015. -

Does that include the 1st we gave up for Diggs? -
Upon further reflection, I'm thinking the Eagles may have won the AJ Brown trade. Doubt the Bills are interested.

Training Camp Notes - 7/27 (Astro’s counterpart)
Doc Brown replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall
That kind of proves that last year was pry the anomaly? Kincaid replaced Davis as Josh's favorite throw the ball away target. Josh also misfired A LOT when targeting Kincaid. His major injury was caused by an overthrow. Their chemistry this year needs to drastically improve. -
To be fair, I've never seen Elam play that bad prior to that game. Same goes for Milano and Hamlin.
-
Agreed but I'm not going to hold my breath that he's anywhere close to his pre injury self. Crazy how two years ago at this time we were wondering if Benford could handle the job opposite Tre White. The ACL and then the Achilles within two years is just brutal.
-
Aren't they both the same player at this point at 30 years old? I'm not sure if Douglas was willing to take a one year $3m deal with incentives like Tre did.

Beane is good at drafting after all -- A look at 2022
Doc Brown replied to boater's topic in The Stadium Wall
He was still competing against 29 other GM's even during the pre salary cap days so I don't even get that argument. He was successful everywhere he went and won executive of the year six times with at least one at each of the three franchises he was handed the keys to. He's more in the Ozzie Newsome tier of all time great GM's. -

I'll just add to this. He drafted two hall of famers in the 2nd (Thomas) and 3rd (Reed) round, traded for Bennett, signed Kelly/Bruce which wasn't easy because Ralph was cheap, picked up Hull and Tasker basically off the street, stole Ballard in the 11th round, and signed James Lofton. It wouldn't even be a debate imo if Norwood just makes the darn field goal to who's the better GM. -

Got ya. I guess pong didn't have any cheat codes. I get the criticism of Brady in the AFC Championship game in short yardage and even the Divisional game before that on that controversial call (which I didn't agree with) to take a deep shot to Shakir which went completely against the entire game plan. However, the defense shrinking in the playoffs is by far the bigger problem. -

I don't know what a cheat code is but definitely a top 5 defensive coordinator. He's been great as the defense has carried them the last couple of years. The only good offensive coordinator that pry has no future as a head coach is Josh McDaniels which stinks for us. Bills never seem to have a problem scoring on Spags's defense though. Gives up four TD's and a field goal but is crowned master defensive mind because of one call on a 4th down that tricked Allen. Allen still puts it in an area for a teammate to drop it albeit a tough catch. -
ESPN acquiring the NFL Network and the NFL Redzone
Doc Brown replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think he does a decent job but I'm in the majority. They said the deal will take around nine months to approve assuming they finalize the deal. My guess is all will be the same at least for this season. -

ESPN will pay them a crap load of money and probably give them partial ownership so they become the de facto "state-run" NFL media outlet. -

LOL. Of course. Silly me to think they'd just put it on their basic cable package. -

Does this mean Red Zone will be on ESPN this season? Will save me having to buy the sports package on YouTube tv. -
My question is if he has another great year would Beane use the non exclusive franchise tag on him since it will likely cost them less than the amount an extension that he'll be asking for. That's a long time down the road though.
