  1. A lot of it depends on the life cycle of the team. At the time of the Diggs trade we had a QB that needed a true number one to develop and Diggs's contract at the time was favorable for an established #1 WR. Our offense went from 23rd overall to 2nd overall. If the Eagles take Jefferson and the Vikings take Reagor in that draft it would be looked at as a steal. The Titans look like fools for trading AJ Brown and drafting Treylon Burks. It pry cost the GM and head coach their jobs. We didn't win the Super Bowl since the trade but having the second most wins in the NFL along with four straight division titles since then is nothing to sneeze at. Our life cycle now is taking swings at WR in the draft because we have to get younger and cheaper at all positions now that Allen is taking up about 15 to 20% of the cap every year.
  2. Yup. First time in awhile (three years maybe) I can remember paying under three bucks a gallon.
  3. They still went against their metrics and gave their MVP to Lamar though. Even data nerds either fall into groupthink or don’t want to be labeled as racist.
  4. Yeah. They're at a super interesting spot in the draft and it all depends on how they feel about the top three QB prospects. If the Bears stick with Fields then I could see the Patriots trading their 3rd overall to jump up and draft Caleb Williams. I could also see them staying put and drafting Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye at three. They could also trade back if the value is right for a team that falls in love with one of the top three QB's available. They also could just draft Marvin Harrison Jr. at three and sign a veteran QB like Mayfield. Tough decisions in Foxboro.
  5. I think you misread my post. I hope the Pats sign Baker and pass on a qb for the reasons you just laid out.
  6. True but specifically in the Pats case, they won't be able to draft a top QB and Marvin Harrison Jr..
  7. He didn't against decent secondaries when we really needed him too (@NYJ, @NE, @CIN, @KC). He had a combined 3 catches for 38 yards in those games on 13 targets. Not good enough. We'll never know but I highly doubt he makes the game changing plays against a strong Chiefs secondary in the playoffs that was sorely lacking in that game.
  8. Different roles in the offense but there's some important distinctions between the two (besides one being an outside X WR and the other being a TE/big slot target). Allen's passer rating when targeting Davis - 87.9. Reception percentage when targeted at 57.7%. Drop percentage at 8.2%. Allen's passer rating when targeting Kincaid - 96.2. Reception percentage when targeted at 80.2%. Drop percentage at 4.2%.
  9. He's good at finding soft spots in zone, putting vertical stress on a defense, blocking, sideline awareness, and making himself available when Josh extended the play going off script. He's always had a drop issue and just doesn't separate quick enough in the short to intermediate routes when teams play man to man. We need a WR2 who can do that consistently.
  10. I'd rather have him than deal with the Pats taking Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jaylen Daniel, etc.. At least I know Baker's ceiling. Atlanta would make perfect sense if the Bucs let him hit free agency. The Steelers and Raiders would be intriguing too.
  11. As a Chiefs fan, if Reid drafted Allen in 2018 instead of Mahomes in 2017 do you think you guys would have four or five rings by now?
  12. I don't even know what this means as Watkins was a 1st round pick expected to be an elite #1 WR we gave up a future 1st round pick for while Davis was a steal in the 4th round. I just wish we didn't try and put him into a bigger role once Brown and Sanders left.
  13. I was curious about this too so I did some digging. Different state laws. Missouri law makes it illegal to release the names of juveniles charged with crimes if they're under 18. This will change if they're tried as adults. Wisconsin is one of only three states (Georgia and Texas being the others) that don't offer that same protection as 17 year olds are required by law to be tried as adults. Thus, Rittenhouse wasn't offered the same protections.
  14. Super interested to see what he'll get in the open market. Good blocker and vertical field stretcher that pairs best with a QB who can extend plays. A low end WR2 at best though. I wish him luck and let's hope he qualifies for a comp pick.
  15. All true but the Covid year threw every team for a loop when structuring contracts into the future. I’ll always wonder what moves Beane would’ve made if the cap went up as expected that year as we still had Allen in his rookie contract window. McCaffrey, Ertz, Beckham, Hopkins? Would we have a Super Bowl ring? Frustrating to think about.
  16. Cost of trying to remain a Super Bowl contender every year. I heard the cap this year is coming in higher than expected so that’s really good for us. Morse maybe. Miller, Diggs, Knox, and even Bass (somewhat) have the Bills by the balls at least for 2024.
  17. Aaron Schatz? Interesting. The analytic guys that used to hate him are now his biggest defenders.
  18. Imagine if it was unanimous? Whoever voted for Allen (even though I don't agree with him - thought it should be McCaffrey) deserves a medal for not falling into groupthink.
  19. No. He's a free agent so he's likely out of our price range.
  20. That's where you come in. Put up or shut up
  21. If Allen just checked it down to Diggs. Ugghhh. It sucks going down that rabbit hole.
  22. Always thought it was a strange hire as Wilks didn't have experience with the Seattle cover 3 system that Saleh and Ryans ran that matched their personnel well. Thought he would promote from within like he did Ryans. I thought there might be trouble when Shanahan forced Wilks to move from the booth to the field. Usually a coordinator makes that decision on his own. The optics for Shanahan look bad immediately following a Super Bowl loss but you could say the same about McDermott firing Dorsey (or Frazier). Doesn't mean it was the wrong decision and there's never really never a good time to do it.
