  1. We'll have to agree to disagree that the Pats are doing a good job today. They're paying $48 million combined for Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor, for starters. That's insanity. Every year there's a runaway "free agency winner", and veeerrrry rarely do that team's free agency contracts wind up looking smart/worthwhile in retrospect. Frankly, the Pats are spending like the drought era Bills. Big flashy moves for top-of-the-ticket free agents. Color me unimpressed.
  2. Can't argue with that. They wound up going 13-3 against a really hard schedule and coming within a game of the Super Bowl, though. We'll see if things work out as well for the Pats and Jets.
  3. This year -- maybe more than any other year in recent memory -- is the year to wait out the early, "funny money" portion of free agency. There are going to be a whole lot of productive veteran players left looking for 1-year deals, many of whom will prioritize going to a contender. I have no doubt that Beane will sit patiently until the bargains come around, and will have us all shaking our heads and calling him a wizard again in no time.
  4. I like Davis. Good player. At $12.5M/year, though? Not so much. That's a lot of cheddar for a guy who's never cracked 1,000 yards receiving in a season.
  5. It's been fun watching New England overpay for mid tier FAs today. Now it's going to be fun to watch the Jets do the same.
  6. They're spending like drunk sailors for some pretty average players.
  7. I don't believe this rumor one bit. In a year in which the Bills are already without a 4th round pick and are cap-strapped, Beane's gonna trade away an early pick to obtain an expensive player at a non-premium position -- a position in which he recently invested two 3rd round picks, no less? I don't buy it.
  8. Like I said: for a very good 25-year-old player at such a premium position to be joining his 4th team in 7 months, something is clearly amiss.
  9. 100% this. He talked his way off the Jaguars. Fine. Then the Vikings, who traded a 2nd round pick for him, turned around and traded him away in the same season. Why? Then the Ravens let him walk. Why? Why is it that such a good player, only 25 years old, will be going on his fourth team?
  10. I'm sticking with Dan Arnold is a realistic/affordable target who could really help the Bills.
  11. I don't know who needs to hear this...probably no one....but: The Bills were never, ever, ever going to pay $12.5M/Y for a tight end.
  12. Most interesting thing from that video: I learned that Josh Allen is one of only five QBs in the Super Boel era to have 700+ yards passing and 0 INTs across his first three playoff games. Thats a pretty cool statistic.
  13. Realistically, based on our cap space after the recent re-signings, here are some guys that I think would be good fits and are actually affordable/attainable. - TE Dan Arnold (would prefer Zach Ertz, but doubt Bills are willing to give up the draft pick necessary) - WR John Ross (would like to see us take him on as a reclamation project in Daboll’s offense. Elite speed.) - EDGE Denico Autry - WR Emmanuel Sanders (a one year deal to add speed and make sure that Gabriel Davis is ready for a bigger role) - WR Khalif Raymond (....speed.) - RB James White (3rd down back who should slide seamlessly into Daboll’s offense) - EDGE Melvin Ingram So, basically: a veteran WR with speed, an edge rusher, a tight end with size, and maybe a running back. I think they’ll add cornerback and IOL help in the draft. These guys represent the tier/price of free agents I think the Bills will be in the market for. I do not believe they’ll be in on any of the “big fish”, the likes of Johnnu Smith or Carl Lawson or Curtis Samuel. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if they are, but I don’t think it will happen. This year is a “bargain shopping” year, in my opinion.
  14. Do you mean run block? I certainly don’t agree that they couldn’t pass block. There are plenty of clips of Allen having enough time to make a sandwich before unleashing a pass.
  15. I wonder if they’re banking on the idea of a healthy Ford and healthy Mongo in the lineup as being a significant upgrade in and of itself. I also wonder if they figure another full, more traditional offseason as a unit will lead to internal improvement for the o-line. The good news is that our pass protection was good last year. At the very least, keeping in tact the unit that helped pave the way for the record setting offensive passing performance is a good thing. Now back to that “how do they fix the run game?” question... In any case, I hope they draft some youngsters at IOL that can compete with Ford and Mongo.
  16. The difference there is that Murphy leaving opens up a roster spot at EDGE. They can draft one at 30 or sign a free agent. Conversely, I don’t see any starting spots left on the o-line. Beane’s comments make it seem like they expect Ford to start, and Mongo’s contract likely means he’ll start, too. Whereas they still have a spot to add a dynamic pass rusher to the roster, the o-line appears set. Certainly the starting five can be written in pencil, if not etched in stone.
  17. I agree that achieving a more effective running game is imperative. Luckily, McDermott and Beane seem to agree. What’s interesting is that they r already said they don’t blame Moss and Singletary for the struggles, and their re-signing the whole o-line indicates that they don’t necessarily think that they caused the problem, either. So...how do they plan to improve the running game? Changing up the run scheme? Adding a more complete tight end and a WR2 that can block well? Perhaps they think Ford’s return will be a big boost? I admit to being perplexed as to how they plan to address the running game at this point.
  18. Ertz is my number 1 wish at tight end. The most complete tight end available. Prior to last season, he hadn't recorded less than 800 yards receiving in a season since 2014, and even then, he had over 700. He can block. He can catch. He would improve both our run game and our passing game. He's 30, which isn't really that old in the world of tight ends. He probably sitll has 4-5 good years left. If the draft pick compensation required isn't too high and they can make it work from a cap perspective, they should do this deal yesterday.
  19. Yes, you're correct. Beane tried to trade for Sanders, not sign him in FA. My mistake. I've been reading that most free agents want to take one-year deals this season due to the lower cap and then try to hit it big next year. As such, the Bills will hopefully have some ring-hungry veteran WRs to choose from. An Emmanuel Sanders, Will Fuller, or Curtis Samuel on a one-year deal would be awesome.
  20. Am I the only one that thinks this thread title is a bit misleading? He’s celebrating one year sober. THAT should be the major headline. “Poyer admits he’s an alcoholic” seems...I don’t know....not quite as accurate a descriptor as it could be.
  21. This hardly seems like the right time and place for this kind of comment, but you do you.
  22. The post is about how he is one year sober. How he recognized that he had a problem and overcame his alcoholism. Good for him. His post took courage.
  23. I agree that this is a year in which trading down would be a great idea. The difference in talent level from pick 30 to pick 45 seems negligible. With big contracts starting to get handed out and with Allen and maybe Edmunds extensions looming, it’s time to fill in the roster with cheap labor. Trading down twice before picking, netting a couple more third round picks, would be amazing. At the very least, I bet Beane finds a way to recoup the 4th round pick that he lost in the Diggs trade.
  24. Nice post. A little discussion/debate instead of patronizing/trolling. Wasn’t so hard, was it?
