Single vs Double Elimination Tournament
Boatdrinks replied to ProcessTruster's topic in The Stadium Wall
Absolutely not. Single elimination is the beauty of the NFL playoffs. You truly only have to be better that gameday. Home field, bye week etc doesn’t guarantee you anything in the end. -
Exactly . Again , what do fans expect to hear from these team employees ? Any criticism from them will be mild and external factors will be emphasized. Go elsewhere for more critical content. Coulda used Matt Foley…
-
You felt that way The ENTIRE 9 minutes that was actually played? Oh wow!
-
They were better THAT DAY. This is all that matters in a single elimination tournament really. Plenty of teams have hoisted Lombardi’s due to this.
-
The only thing the last paragraph shows is that the Bengals are comprised of mental midgets. All playoff teams sell tickets to games on a “ if necessary “ basis. Bengals fans have shown their supreme lack of intelligence re: this on twitter as well. A walkthrough practice is not even worth mentioning.
-
Nah, the Bills peaked too soon and had key injuries up and down the roster. The Bengals win streak wasn’t much different from Buffalo’s, right down to a close win vs the Chiefs. The NFC north will likely be tougher next season as well. Pretty much a cakewalk this year and CIN still had losses to BAL and PIT. Timing is everything in the tournament.
-
Long way off. There will be contract restructurings and FA before the draft rolls around.
-
Only one I can think of was BAL and they weren’t lighting the world on fire. Frazier also had success vs Jackson in regular season games so it just carried over. Patriots offense was not a top unit either. Overall his defenses have been less than impressive in playoff games. The Bills playoff wins were largely due to Josh Allen.
-
He is , but he’s also a hit away from retirement. Don’t recall a C getting that many concussions- maybe he’s just susceptible to them. Anyway, RT has been a problem for a few seasons now and needs a solid upgrade but probably time to draft a new C. Can’t argue with that. BAL and SF use a FB but you can also see why. Can’t see much in the BUF offense that justifies a FB.
-
Probably right. Edmunds is pretty young too. He had a better year than Oliver. Age working against Poyer returning, but he was a great player for us.
-
Those numbers don’t lie.
-
Not talking about the contract - the draft picks. Would have presumably cost Bills more because they had a better record at the time so they’d assume the Bills pick would be later.

When will we adjust to playoff football

Nick Wright, so NOT true -
The cost would have been / was exorbitant- the Bills also don’t have a Shanahan level run game guru as the OC. Great player, but not sure his results here would have been worth the considerable bevy of picks.
-
Bills should have the best DL in the league given all the investment.
-
I think the lack of dependable targets underneath steered Josh elsewhere. You can only have guys drop it so many times.
-
Might have. It was a great tandem while it lasted. Hyde might have a good season or two left.

4 wins at most to win Super Bowl championship. 15 to win Stanley Cup I believe ? In the hierarchy of professional sports championships: 1 Super Bowl 2 World Series 3 NBA championship 4 Stanley Cup
-
There are none, haven’t you perused the board? Josh has regressed, Beane has mismanaged for years and the Bills will be fortunate to win 5 or 6 games next season. They’ll be chasing the Chiefs and Bengals for years to come , possibly forever. Hope they’ve got nets up around all bridges in WNY.

Perfect ; it’ll be another first for Allen! Exactly. No reason to be stressed , it’s already over ! -
Pretty good retrospective. Nothing foolish about the early confidence ; many observers thought the Bills were the team to beat because they were. Then they were tested by injuries not seen in the McDermott era. The rookie coordinator was studied and dissected by the rest of the league. After the bye week, he proved he wasn’t yet up to the task. He never adapted ; the slot WR was out ,the QB injured his elbow and the middle of the field disappeared. Defensively , injuries piled up and Frazier was unable to adapt and find a way. While it was a tall order, his lack of flexibility was apparent. Some changes are in order for this staff. The WRs and OL aren’t good enough. Josh Allen can’t be asked to do everything all the time.

Michael Thomas or Odell Beckham Jr.?
