Having “ hurt feelings” over a potential future exit from SJF is silly. If the Bills were to ditch ROC for some other offsite locale that would be a different story. But to simply decide to “ stay home” for camp ( like over half of the NFL already does ) and use the facilities at OBD ? Just evolution and nothing to make a fuss over.

While it may not not have helped the Bills, it sure helped fans of football in general. A Pats * and Tom Brady free playoffs is always something to savor. The Bills have been bad for most of the last 20 years, but it’s much easier to enjoy the NFL in general when NE isn’t involved.

You are correct , I was there too and remember it well. The replay was shown in the stadium. For the record, yes I hi fived other fans around me and don’t regret it one bit; I really hate that player and relished the moment. Great play by Pollard. Would I have the same reaction to a player being in a car crash or getting shot in the D.R. ? Nope. But on the field of play, all is fair game ( I don’t mean a blatant cheap shot after the play a la Gronk). The holier than thou attitude of some is hilarious. It’s a brutal sport, and fans get passionate about it. On the field these guys are well compensated modern day gladiators. It appeals to something in the deep dark recesses of our less -refined nature. I’m not going to pretend otherwise. That may work for some, but why kid yourself?

If nothing else, those fans got their comeuppance. Their team’s last 3 minutes or so , certainly the last 00:15 were a complete brain fart. Had a great opportunity to close it out and now they’re headed back to Oakland.

I’m not even sure where to start with this nonsensical take. First, a FICO score has nothing to do with income level. One could have a FICO of 800 but not enough income to afford a Mercedes payment. However, that is beside the point. If you’ve been paying attention - a BIG if given the content of your post - most stadiums are not constructed with 100% public money these days. It’s a mix of private and public funding.A new or heavily ( read :very expensive $$) renovated stadium is almost a certainty at this point. The only unlikely scenario in all of this is the team remaining in NEF in its current form.

But to be clear, I have sat in many locations throughout Rich/ NEF our the years. 50 yard line, tunnel end zone, corner, 35 yard line, corporate suite, club level and even the upper deck. By far my favorite location was my long held seasons in section B7 row 30. But contrary to your assumption about my personal preferences, this discussion isn’t about what I want. It’s about what the Pegulas and the Bills organization might be thinking about their business model going forward. As Kirby has sagely pointed out, this is inevitable. Yes, there are climate controlled luxury box seats available, but that isn’t the same as sitting in the stands in a climate controlled facility. There just isn’t much pricing power for the experience NEF currently offers. The problems you describe are intrinsically tied to the building itself. The team is looking to increase their revenues, and the stadium is a huge issue in that regard. Regardless of what you, I or any other fans on this board want the status quo isn’t a realistic view of what the team’s stadium future will be.

Research and more research. They won’t attend at the current facility most likely. Pricing power even at a renovated NEF will be limited by the lack of climate control among other things. The Bills are a business, so all of this will be very carefully planned.

That’s what the Pegulas market research is going to determine. Some will, and some won’t. Not much different than other fans throughout the county and beyond. However, your cited best reasons to attend are likely some of their biggest reasons for staying away. Regardless, the Pegulas won’t be interested in a building a new stadium to promote a social atmosphere ,if that’s what they decide to do. Their interest lies in maximizing current revenue streams as well as creating opportunities for new ones.

This^ There is an untapped , more upscale market in Buffalo and its environs that stays away from games at the current facility. This is due to the lack of climate control and a certain segment of fans that currently attends. Some are too absorbed in their own situation to acknowledge / realize that this market exists. This isn’t the early 1980’s in Buffalo. The bargain basement ticket prices and the setup outside the stadium encourage well publicized behaviors that keep the deeper pockets out of the picture. A new climate controlled stadium changes this in a big way.

Viewership rebounded last year and the top rated tv programs in any given week are usually NFL games. The NYJ are the stepchild to the Giants in that market and that’s always how it’s been. As for the Pegulas, they are doing a lot of research and studies into what the market can bear and what improvements are necessary to appeal to the fan willing to spend more.

Not really. As much as everything the league does is set up to achieve parity and prevent a Patriots type thing from happening, we are still mired in it. Actually to the point of mind- numbing sameness and boredom. The better teams don’t always get the bye; those in weaker divisions often end up with them. The better rested teams often advance. Bye weeks don’t really assure that the best teams move on.

None of this Stadium talk has anything to do with who you or I want to attend games. It’s based on who the Pegulas and their brain trust decide is their target market to increase the team’s revenues.

The Pats are really an anomaly . They won’t be vulnerable until Brady retires or his play falls off in a major way. That’s the main thing that weighs against the Bills dethroning them. Not roster turnover on either team.

If the owners are paying to build, the prices have to be high to get a significant ROV. Of course, CAL and NYC are in a league of their own when it comes to this.

While Buffalo doesn’t have the corporate presence to sell more suites, I disagree on the raising of revenue overall. There is plenty of room for that in this market, which currently has the lowest average ticket price in the league. There is an upscale market that remains largely untapped who simply won’t attend games at the current venue. This is largely due to weather and the presence of a segment of fans that currently goes to the games. This won’t change without a new venue. The stadium isn’t exactly crumbling to the ground, but it’s a woefully outdated relic from a different era of the NFL from a business standpoint.

And that is what this whole thing is really about. A new stadium = a new target demographic. They need a majorly upgraded experience to sell them, though. I don’t think that happens to the same degree with a renovated NEF. There’s only so much that’s actually possible before the cost approaches new build territory. A climate controlled environment would be a big selling point to a market that currently doesn’t attend games frequently. It just comes down to what the Pegulas decide they want.
