I would bet that people who get shot and then stabbed are less likely to die than people who get shot.

Gap responsibilities are basically identifying where you are supposed to be and making sure your fit is sound. If there is a puller you must engage on balance and fit. That is largely how the defensive roles along the front 7 are organized. The goal of our alignments and run fits the majority of the time rely on the front seven playing fundamentally gap sound defense and leaving a DB free to make the tackle. McDermott and Frazier want sound run fits first and then brilliant individual play second, NOT the other way around. That is why they shipped Jordan Phillips out after a career year. -
This scheme is never going to be top of the league in rush yardage or rush Y/A because they don't want to be. Obviously they'd like to not allow long TD runs, but from an EPA perspective you actually want to encourage both the other team to run against you at a higher than average frequency AND be able to stop them at an above league average net YPA. If you're then also a top defense against the pass, as we are because we actually have good players and coaches, and play complementary offensive football (which we have struggled with as of late, but that doesn't mean the defensive philosophy isn't sound) you have a good modern NFL defense.

Do you think the advantages in the pass defense outweigh the liabilities in the run game? Especially considering that we struggle to consistently dictate on offense so we cannot necessarily rely on playing with a lead. -

It’s a numerical system for designating linebacker alignments, similar to defensive linemen in 0tech, 1tech etc except LB coaches add a zero. This is a good article for the basics: https://www.stateoftheu.com/2016/7/11/12093870/miami-hurricanes-clinic-talk-terms-and-phrases-for-defensive-football -

Mesh w play side TE…Jackson or Wallace (probably Jackson) is supposed to switch to shallow route, Edmunds man is deeper drag from weak side. Pretty clearly not his man. -
I think the filter would remove that game data for times when either teams’s QB was pulled however, I doubt that’s how they definite garbage time. My guess would be that the aforementioned presets along the filter are the score differentials and as you approach 30 (ie a game where one team is winning by 30pts) it starts to max out

Performance (however you want to define that) late in close games is such a strange method of quantifying a team’s quality. Why not early, or in the middle?

Silly article imo. There’s little reason to be as down on the Bills as that article reads unless you’re trying too hard to make a point. 7-5 is the absolute worst record this team could have at this point in the season. It’s a season of thin margins and we have been on the wrong side thus far.

The idea that he doesn’t ‘know how to play MLB’ is hilarious half the people in this thread couldn’t tell you his keys or responsibilities in this scheme and they watch the Bills play every Sunday -

He’s currently captain of the #1 defense by yards and #2 by points😂😂😂 -

Fred Warner is the comp for Edmunds. They play very similar roles in their respective defenses. -
for me a lot of defensive line play is instinctual and sometimes it looks like he is overthinking. Phillips is a smart player but if you watch a vet like Lotulelei in the middle for example, you'll see him in 1tech getting pieces of guards in zone to buy an extra half step for the LBs, keeping his footwork balanced when he needs to have a different angle...I rarely see that ability to adapt out of Phillips. He knows his responsibilities but doesn't have any counters when the situation calls for it
