Don't get me wrong I love Foster and I think he definitely has a shot a making that role his own. I was more thinking he's got the skillset (and hopefully the motivation to improve) to be used in a bunch of different ways...I like how fast he gets in and out of cuts and his routes have really improved imo. He's 100% fast enough to be the deep guy, I'd just like to see them develop him into a well-rounded all purpose guy (kind of how SF is trying to do w/ Goodwin, which may or may not work) and find someone to take the top off and let Foster/Jones eat up that space behind the LBs. With a capable TE and a back who can catch...watch out.

People will poo-pooh the 'what-ifs' but there's a fairly strong correlation between the kind of one bounce, one-play type outcomes/games that impact a team's final record...it's usually turnover diff but I put a lot of stock in these kinds of stats tbh. An oblong ball tends to inject a ton of variance over the course of a season, averages are good that the next year it trends more toward the mean.

This is my hope also. I think Jones and Foster can be effective underneath/slot midlevel guys (provided they get stronger physically in terms of separation after contact & holding off DB with body positioning for catch) combined w/ a Hill or Cooks type burner...would be a great combo for a guy like Allen. Ideally we find a Kittle in the mid rounds of the draft. Thinking a guy like Caleb Wilson from UCLA if he declares.

Kid is going to be a bonafide superstar. Take the best parts of Roethlisberger and Newton in a blender. A right handed Steve Young. A giant among men. Teh answer to questions unasked. The creator and provider. A talent unlike the league has ever seen. I just wish we could retrieve old shoutbox tape from draft night, I was all over this pick.

Congrats 49! Well deserved.

Very comfortable out of playaction, less so in shotgun. Once he starts being able to come off his first read and into his second before he hits the top of his drop you’re going to see him start taking the league by storm. Foster can play, if he gets stronger he’s going to be a weapon. Jones needs to tighten everything down and cut out the drops but he’s coming along.
