  1. Gary just mentioned that Mickey says that starting Friday it's 'full bore' with regard to time off for the starters. Barring a melt down we'll go into the weekend series against the Nats above .500 and throwing Stroman, Thor and DeGrom at them. After that we continue to face contenders for the foreseeable future. We'll have to wait and see how the bullpen holds up, but as Alonso would say LFGM!
  2. I didn't want to jinx them. It seems like every other day we leap frog someone in the standings. A few weeks ago I though that getting back to .500 by the end of the season would be a stretch.
  3. Are you basing that just on this year? If I did the math right, from 2007-2017 he only sat out around 40 games. Couldn't have done that in spring training shape, could he? It does raise the question of whether his durability was "performance enhanced".
  4. Putting aside the players we gave away, should I be happy? My hope is he a legit #2 starter.
  5. Yes I know, I missed a verse, don't worry...
  6. I've seen this clip before and it never gets old. Makes me wonder what would have been.
  7. Was at Citi Field last weekend and me and my son were talking about whether the Mets would/should extend the netting to the foul pole. They probably don't need to due to the way the stands bump out past the infield. On a somewhat related note, the advertising on the foul pole screens is an abomination.
  8. I can confirm that this (or something similar) produces similar results.
  9. Unbelievable. Looked foul, but no way to tell without a foul line. On the other hand I think they caught a break when the ball hit the ump.
  10. There's a destination a little up the road From the habitations and the towns we know A place we saw the lights turn low Jig-saw jazz and the get-fresh flow Pulling out jives and jamboree handouts Two turntables and a microphone Bottles and cans and just clap your hands and just clap your hands
  11. Two of the top starters (Stroman, Bauer) on the market go to teams below .500 and one of them to a team that has two others that might be moved (Thor, Wheeler). It's amazing the elimination of waiver trades has had already. Can't wait to see how tomorrow plays out for the Mets and others
  12. Not being snarky, but what do you want to happen by 4 PM tomorrow? Scorched earth? Thor, Wheeler, Diaz gone? Maybe Lugo and Gsellman too? What's the plan for next year?
  13. Waiting for just the right moment. Nice.
  14. Had a fly girl Flo, called her honey Next thing she spent up all my money Had me in debt, you and your girl’s dizzy Stopped movin’ crack, but you’re still gettin’ pissy You could call me everyday God sent Like you was Lois Lane and I was Clark Kent I spend and I spend and you spent and you spent Now my house with a mouse is a roach with a tent “Mary, Mary!” Why ya buggin’?
  15. Depends on how you roll. If indica isn't an option, kicking a cat might be.
  16. I think he may be dangling Thor and Diaz in the hopes that someone will offer something stupid. If so, nothing wrong with that. I also heard a radio call-in today that's worth sharing. Maybe from a no-nothing psycho and I'm paraphrasing the stats which for all I know were fabricated so read this with skepticism. The claim was that last year Thor and Diaz threw sliders in the strike zone around 30% of the time, this year 45%. The speculation being they don't trust Ramos behind the plate. Regardless, I've never been a fan of giving up on the season if there' s a glimmer of hope. A rotation of DeGrom, Thor, Stroman, Wheeler, Matz would look formidable if the bullpen wasn't so God-awful.
  17. Thor's scheduled to go tonight, Wheeler on Thursday. If it's related I hope it's to Wheeler. But after seeing what we gave up for Stroman and knowing that Wheeler is strictly a rental I wouldn't expect the Mets to get much for him. So right now if they trade a pitcher I hope it's Diaz.
  18. Could be, he's no shrinking violet and for example was critical of the trip to Syracuse before the season started. Not the best way to ingratiate yourself with the boss.
  19. City of tiny lites Don't you wanna go Hear the tiny auto horns When they tiny blow Tiny lightin' In the storm Tiny blankets Keep you warm Tiny pillows Tiny sheets Talkin' bout those tiny cookies That the peoples eats
  20. True, but Brodie has eviscerated the farm system and brought in a win-now starter. If he's elevated Wheeler's value, great. Until I see what comes back, moving Thor still makes no sense to me. On the other hand, a top 4 of DeGrom/Thor/Stroman/Matz looks pretty good to me.
  21. Doesn't necessarily mean Thor is gone. With Kay out of the picture Wheeler might be the next guy voted off Mets Island.
  22. Didn't see that one coming. Brodie seems to have little regard for prospects in the Mets system who aren't major league ready. @row_33: how should Mets fans feel about Stroman?
  23. Matz doesn't have the temperament to be a closer. I've seen too many times where something doesn't go his way and he folds like a cheap suit. With that said I was fortunate enough to be in attendance yesterday and what a performance by Matz. And to cap it off we came home with Mr. Met On The Moon bobbleheads! Wheeler is built to be a starting pitcher. If he can avoid more injuries I think he'll be a solid and once in awhile spectacular starter for the next few years, probably no more than 4 or 5.
  24. Here's a link to the @plenzmd1 google doc. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1F9yhWkCZkeTFX_6yagiiwCPu-JUnhBAxuPILxW8U438/edit My two cents is you should visit Niagara Falls. A lot of people say that the Canadian side is better. That may or may not be true, but it requires crossing the border and there's plenty to do and see on the American side.
