  1. Friendly, yes. Friends, no. We know most of the neighbors and there were attempts to socialize years ago, but it just never clicked for us. My wife is pretty friendly with a mother across the street. They go walking together and text regularly - our kids are the same age but they have girls and we have boys. I do the wave and exchange pleasantries but that's about it.
  2. This is very true. But.... ...so is this. A few times recently I took the left-over steak, shredded it and made tacos/burritos. They were phenomenal.
  3. If this is the first mention - and I think it is - we should all be embarrassed. Otherwise I owe someone else a thumbs up too.
  4. Yeah, this came out of the blue for me too. I had completely forgotten about him and the $11 mill contract. We got out at the right time IMO. There was just too much potential to give up on him before we did.
  5. Not gloating here about Matt Harvey, it's a shame how far he's fallen, I can remember when he looked destined for greatness and a big fear was that he'd flee to the Yankees as soon as he had a chance. I will gloat about the Angels giving him $11 mill. https://nypost.com/2019/07/19/matt-harvey-designated-for-assignment-by-angels/
  6. My wife agrees with you, I'm skeptical. Which is another way of saying that I always cook our steaks at room temperature (except when I'm hungry and she isn't paying attention). But how would cooking a steak that's not at room temperature mess with it? I remain skeptical.
  7. For me, steak implies grill. Otherwise I'm having beef. Marinate with McMormicks Montreal Steak mix. Not the seasoning, the packet that you mix with oil. It enhances without overtaking and the oil helps the seasoning survive the grilling. Heat the grill to 450-500. Drop the steak on the grill and depending on thickness ignore it for 6-8 minutes. Take a look and when the juices are up in a big way, flip. Cook for about 2-3 minutes less than when you flipped it and take a look. Chances are it's a perfect medium rare. You should see some juices but you can also just check how spongy it feels. Flipping again is no big deal if needed. Take the steak off the grill and let it sit (covered) for 5 minutes.
  8. I've been away recently and not dialed in, but as I see it here's where we stand: 67 games left, 5 games out of the wild card (not bad except there's only one team further away) 4 game winning streak (including two on the road against a .600 first place team) Wheeler would be a decent trade chip if he didn't just get hurt Thor could bring back a haul but I don't think that trade is in Brodie's DNA I'd trade Frazier to free up playing time for McNeil and Davis. I'd trade Dom Smith if it brought back something of value. Same with Ramos. Not sure if dumping either would be worth the return. The bold move would be moving Rosario and rolling the dice on Hechavarria. Dr. K had another relapse. That sucks. Ending on a positive note, Alonso won the HR Derby. Wish I had seen that. Did I miss anything? Lets Go Mets!
  9. Friends are so alarming, my lover's never charming Life's just a cocktail party on the street, Big Apple People dressed in plastic bags (Shadoobie, shattered) Directing traffic, some kind of fashion Shattered
  10. Pig's in the mud When he tires Pig's in zen Pig's in zen Pig is nude Unashamed Pig's in zen Pig's in zen
  11. Nice call on the Doors. Haven't heard that one in ages.
  12. Well I never defended Chicago's inland waterways against the scourge of Asian Carp, but I probably stayed in a Holiday Inn Express at least once in my life. So that's a definite maybe.
  13. If his permanent record includes subsets of his posts ten volumes would be scratching the surface.
  14. Frampton Comes Alive is rare for me in that I think it's an all time great but I never really listened to much else by him before or after. Little Feat's Waiting For Columbus would probably make my top 10. Other ones I like that didn't make the Rolling Stone list that I don't think have been mentioned in the thread yet: Rush: All the Worlds a Stage Yes: Yessongs UFO: Strangers in the Night Stiff Little Fingers: Hanx SRV: Live Alive Eric Clapton: Just One Night Blue Oyster Cult: Some Enchanted Evening Umphreys McGee: Hall of Fame 2011 Govt Mule: Mulennium or Deepest End Live or.... Zappa: Just Another Band From LA Bottom line is there's too much to choose from.
  15. Is that the stars in the sky or is it raining far from now? Will it burn me if I touch the sun, so bit, so round? Will I be truthful, yeah, in choosing you as the one for me? Is this love baby, or is it-a just confusion?
  16. Great call, love this one. Not prog IMO ... but who cares about labels anyway.
  17. Some of you might not agree 'Cause you probably likes a lot of misery But think a while and you will see Broken hearts are for....
  18. When I kiss you I feel a thousand different feelings A cover of chills All over my body And when I feel them I quickly try to decide which one I should try to put into words, woah oh Try to put into words
  19. A pretty good interview with Dom Smith below. I was in "so done with him" mode last year, it's remarkable how he's turned things around. I remember telling my kids when I first saw him that he looked like a guy who needed a pillow. Turned out there was some truth to that. https://nypost.com/2019/07/02/dominic-smith-on-jeff-mcneils-hot-dog-secret-crushing-yankees-and-sleep-struggles/
  20. It gets better. The next day they misspelled Jesse Hudson's first name in a scoreboard apology: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/jim-gosger-jesse-hudson-mets-apologize-members-1969-championship-team-montage-dead-players/
  21. She's all about the bare necessities.
  22. Apparently the Mets paid tribute to players from the 1969 who have passed away and somehow managed to include two players who are still alive. Reminds me of Monty Python and the Holy Grail: "I'm not dead yet!" https://nypost.com/2019/06/30/mets-have-apologized-to-one-of-the-players-they-accidentally-had-dead/
  23. The Bills official site has a store. Local stores in Buffalo won't do any better wrt price. The NFL controls its merchandise pretty well. Ebay is an option (usually used stuff) and there are China sites with knock-offs that vary from OK to humorous to bad. When my kids were young I'd buy jerseys from the Bills store at a discount of 'stars' who had just left the team. They had no clue that Bledsoe was no longer a Bill. On a related note, wifey didn't understand why I was less than impressed when she bought me a Bledsoe jersey (which I wore only once for the photo op with the kids). Eventually my boys started questioning and I had to buck up and pay for the jersey of a current player. Who invariably was gone soon thereafter (see Stevie Johnson and Dareus). I finally got to the point where they will only get the jersey of an all-time Bill. For a 3 and 5 year old that's probably not an option.
