  1. since we're talking about what may happen in the future: Bills- 27th oldest team in the league - 26th in available cap space Sabres- youngest team in the league - 1st in current and projected cap space Given 17 yearly NFL games and single elimination playoffs vs. 82 NHL games and four rounds best of 7 playoffs, Lombardi trophy winner can be much more random than Stanley cup winner. In the NFL , a good team can have a bad game and be gone, a mediocre team can be hot for 4 games and win it all. In the NHL, a mediocre team has to string 16 wins in the playoffs. One or two bad games by a good team is not necessarily a killer. I think we'll see a Stanley cup before a Lombardi trophy, unless the Bills get lucky (injuries, weather, schedule, official's calls, etc).
  2. I am not assigning blame, I am not recommending what somebody does before sex, I'm merely stating that someone lying about their age does not clear a defendant of a statutory rape charge. If you think I'm wrong, say so. It's not necessary to be insulting to me because you don't like or agree with a particular law.
  3. this attorney says Araiza didn't force her-doesn't matter says she claimed to be 18-doesn't matter says it was consensual-not possible, a 17 year old minor cannot legally consent to sex this attorney is spouting nonsense defenses I don't know if araiza had sex with this person, but if it can be proven that he did, he's guilty of either felony statutory rape, or misdemeanor statutory rape, depending on the DA's choice of charge His only hope is that the investigators found none of his DNA in her at the time of the alleged incident, or that if they did, he can buy her off, and in so doing, purchase her non-cooperation with the DA. In that case, it's possible the DA drops the case.
  4. again-she, being a 17 year old minor, is not legally capable of consenting to sex
  5. It is felony statutory rape, he was 21, she was 17. Doesn't matter if he knew her age or not, doesn't matter if she lied about her age, doesn't matter if she consented to everything, it is STILL felony statutory rape if he had sex with her, anywhere, anytime, under any circumstances, except if they were married. Then it could be rape, depending on the circumstances.
  6. in california, a 17 year old minor is unable to consent to sex, in the eyes of the law. 21 year old Matt , birthdate 5-16-2000, cannot legally have consensual sex with a 17 year old. period
  7. one can only hope
  8. Don't put a dime onto the defensive side of the ball. With the current rules and officiating, and the emergence of QB's such as Mahomes, Allen, possibly Burrow, Herbert, and who knows who else will appear, who have great arms, legs, and heads , defense is becoming irrelevant. Belicheck with a good defense was helpless against us. Our "#1" defense was helpless against Mahomes. K.C. beat us with their very mediocre defense because of their offense. It used to be good offense wins games, defense wins championships. No more. A topflight qb will generally beat a topflight defense. If your defense isn't going to win games for you, might as well have a mediocre one (K.C.), and put your $ and draft resources into protecting and enhancing your most important player. Do everything you can to build and improve and solidify the O-line. It will help Josh, prolong his career, make your rb's and wide receivers better. With rare exceptions, defense just doesn't matter. If you don't believe this, show me one bills game this year that the defense won for us. I can't find one
  9. And NO one player can quarantee a SB, no matter who he is
  10. I'd say Josh, Beane , and McDermott
  11. Perhaps posted elsewhere, but has a team whose qb's rating was 17 and lost the turnover battle 4-1 EVER won a football game, much less by 14 points?
  12. I think he's missing quiet stadiums
  13. clearly not a concern in yesterday's Bills game.
  14. also consider Hollister's history with Josh, he'll be back.
  15. in the AFL from 1961-1969, the all-star game was east vs. west, except in 1965, when the game was league champion Bills vs. the rest of the leagues all-stars. Bills lost 30-19. From what I remember, Sid Gillman, coach of the all stars just kept rotating his group of all star receivers and had them running continuous fly routes against the Bills secondary. Bills secondary quickly wore down
  16. 1960- at the Rockpile. Don't remember who we played, or who won. James Sullivan, the father of a good friend from school (we were 10) was the team physician and he took both of us. A fan ever since.
  17. Jan. 1, 1967, Bills played K.C. in AFL championship game, winner went on to play Green Bay in first super bowl. Hopefully, same scenario, different outcomes
  18. I've been following the Bills since Richie Lucas was the QB. I loved the 60's and 90's Bills. Stats , rules changes , eras don't matter. Allen is a better QB than Kelly. Similar competitiveness, better arm, better mobility, better leadership, better head. I don't know what the future holds, but today, not close.
  19. This year following week 16, home teams had won 120 games, lost 119, and tied one. https://www.covers.com/sport/football/nfl/league-trends/seasontodate There is literally NO home field advantage! I would love to see the Bills win on Sunday to wrap up second seed, but in reality, that accomplishes nothing. Resting and protecting as many of your players as possible does accomplish something. Bills are not getting a bye no matter what, they should at least turn a regular season game into a meaningless pre-season game. It's called delayed gratification.
  20. In my fandom, Rex would be Vince Lombardi compared to Buster Ramsey, Kay Stephenson, Hank Bullough. I could go on, but I guess I'm just showing my age, and the fact that Ralph would generally not pay coaches.
  21. perhaps I'm misunderstanding you. Do you mean that these schools would not be able to fund english departments without football revenue? what about all the fine division 3 schools that seem to have english departments without football revenue? What about SUNYAB?
  22. Isn't our country so wonderful as to allow freedom of expression as stupid as this Isn't our country wonderful as to allow freedom of expression as moronic as this
  23. I went to my first bills game as a kid in their first season. I went to games as a young teenager in the AFL championship years. I went to games with my wife in our early years together. Went to games with my kids in the super bowl years and the first decade of the 2000's. I now take grandchildren to occasional games. And while I will always be a Bills fan, the in-stadium experience of seeing them consistently gets worse and worse. Go Bills!
  24. There's the expression usually referring to basketball, "you can't teach height". I have a real question, not rhetorical, can you fix stupid? I really don't know. You can teach an ignorant person, but can you change a stupid one? I'm not saying that what Oliver did was horrible, I'm saying it's stupid, given his financial situation, his very public status, his future. How hard is it to not drive with an open container? How hard is it to not have a handgun that might be illegal? Is it really that difficult for a player to not put himself in a position where he might get suspended by the league? Real question-is he stupid, and if so can that be fixed?
