Total McDermott pick Baylor’s coach Dave Aranda is a close buddy of McD. I think this is a poor pick being the third round is early for him. they must have been worried he would go prior to our fifth round pick. However, last pick McDermott got Aranda’s insight on was Tre White as he had been Tre’s DC at LSU. So let’s hope they know a lot more than we do!

I get frustrated about how defense heavy our early picks are too…but I think part of it is that Josh was pretty young and so they tried to put vets around him on offense Now that he is hitting year 5, hopefully they start investing more early picks on offense to surround Josh with talent. We will see tonight!

If they are serious about running 12 personnel a good amount this year, they probably really need to come out of tonight with a new TE and RB. OJ Howard is an ok player for $3 mil this year, but he is not gonna help in the running game as much as you would like with 12 personnel and is only here for a year Trey McBride and Rachaad White is probably the best realistic pairing I can think of. McBride is very good at everything and White is a good receiving back with just enough to punish teams if the play light in the box

McD is very involved with the draft process…but I think we will go offense in round 2

Josh is the only first round offensive pick since McDermott got here (and that year he still got Tremaine in Round 1). Not necessarily a bad thing but remember when we are speculating next year lol

Booth’s medicals may be poor. Beane gets antsy, it’s maybe a weakness of him but Elam will be much better in McD’s zone scheme then what he was playing in college
