  1. There is some truth to this. When is the last time a great QB class on paper actually ended up being a great QB class by the time the draft rolled around?
  2. Really? With what we have seen from him in the preseason you would still rather pass on him for a complete unknown at the position? No guarantee he will be a franchise guy still but he's definitely off to a good start.
  3. I have us down for 6-10 but I would prefer 5-11 over 6-10 to get better draft postion. I think we go 3-3 in the division and 3-7 outside the division.
  4. Do you play and stand for the National Anthem before you go off to work every morning? If not maybe you should leave the country as well. I'm fine with leaving the National Anthem as is for sporting events but I got to admit that it doesn't really make sense why we have it for every sporting event.
  5. I thought it only pertained to actual franchise QBs though. Stafford isn't that. He's on the Alex Smith level. Nobody believes Alex Smith is getting paid like that anytime soon.
  6. This game will be a win-win either way. If I had to pick one though I'll probably be going for the Chiefs.
  7. Find a real franchise QB? Stafford is a borderline franchise QB IMO. He's basically the equivalent of Alex Smith with a better arm. Smith with the better QB IQ. We see what the Chiefs think of Smith.
  8. 4 starters and 3 second string players? That's actually not too bad especially considering Sammy and Darby would have made it 6 starters. Can't fault anyone but the current GM for trading away Darby and Watkins.
  9. Yes. Most on here probably think we should be favorites and are likely expecting a win. I'm preparing for a loss as much as a win. That was my point. I'm sure Vegas will have us as favorites but that won't make me any more comfortable.
  10. The problem with starting Peterman is what if he looks decent by rookie standards and then McBeane and McDermot decide to LT and DT with the first two picks passing on a QB. Then Peterman never really improves off his first year.
  11. 50/50 chance we lost to the Jets week 1. And I'm being serious. I don't expect the Jets to start Hackenberg. If they do then I think we have a 90% chance of taking that one. And since the Jets are going to be a major hurdle for us to jump in the pursuit of our next franchise QB it's not like we should be bummed about losing to the Jets week one.
  12. Damn. I was hoping we could package McBeane for a late round pick before he completely destroys our roster.
  13. That's great. But how many are actually any good? Or did they just find their place on the depth chart due to circumstances of a bad roster to begin with. At this point we don't know the answer to that question. All we know is they have a lot of young players on the roster and that they were a really bad team last year. Where they go from here we don't know yet. The risk is falling in love with Kizer and passing on a top QB in the next draft because of that love. Then the next two seasons Kizer fizzles out. It's a lot easier for a rookie QB to look good when you chalk up the mistakes made during the season to being a rookie and projecting future improvement. If they start Oz or Kessler it's very unlikely either of those guys performs at a level high enough to keep them from drafting a QB next year.
  14. So how many franchise QB's does that make now that we passed on in this last draft? It's our luck that the '17 QB draft class will end up better than the '18 class.
  15. Dude did have sub 9.0 ypc last season. That's down there with the RB's averages.
  16. He literally had one of the worst rookie campaigns ever for a QB so it's not like an improvement will mean much unless he improves a ton. He does seem to have some weapons to throw to now so we shall see what kind of step up he takes.
  17. 100% agree. In today's NFL I am a big believer in starting a rookie QB day one if that is an option. With Taylor being here I'm not sure it is for us. But it could be possibly. Today's young QB's pretty much either have it and show it from the word go or they don't.
  18. Peterman hasn't exactly lit it up against 2's and 3's. So who are you saying is the best at the QB position? The thing in Peterman's favor is that he is a rookie. Sometimes the saying, if the battle for the position is close then give it to the rookie is true. Sometimes it's not. Also, consider that the last pre-season game we just saw from Taylor was probably the worst we've seen ever outside of maybe the fourth quarter of the Oakland game last year. Basically even with that terrible film, there is a good chance that was an anomaly. Preseason game #3 will be interesting but at this point I think Peterman has to look a whole lot better to take the job from Taylor no matter how bad Taylor looks in the next game. Now if Taylor's first two games to start the season are very similar to his first two games to start the season last year then I think we have a legitimate argument to make that Peterman should get a look.
  19. Assuming Gaines and Matthews are as advertised our depth at WR and CB should be fine. If we are going to move a player it should be Ragland. Trade Reggie for another former 1st/2nd round pick on another team who also is finding themselves third on the depth chart. That is how we landed Hughes in the first place.
  20. Okay, I'll be one of those over reactors. There actually is a chance he Taylor could be benched in favor of Peterman come week one. That was a flat out terrible performance by Taylor today. If he doesn't separate himself from a rookie QB in the next game then I could see it as a real possibility.
