TSW Mock Trade Draft vs Actual
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I took your question as more of a rhetorical question as the answer was obvious. The only team the Bills would not trade places with over the last 17 years is the Browns. That is how pathetic we have been. Yes I rather have the Packers success but that doesn't mean Green Bay hasn't totally mismanaged their good fortune in landing Rogers. Does that make sense? -

Would you take it over the Steelers, Broncos or Patriots? Those are teams that have managed to actually build complete teams along with their star QB. And they've been to multiple Super Bowls because of that. Even Russell Wilson has two conference titles. -

You're talking about the franchise that has failed to give Aaron Rogers talent around him? A franchise that has managed only one conference championship despite having the best QB in the game the last 8-10 years? -

Not sure about that. Johnson will be hitting free agency sooner than Barkley. Barkley will be on a rookie contract for 5 years. Johnson might make less for one or two seasons but he'll make more on his new deal or be franchised. And if Barkley is as good as advertised, he'll be the better back. -

Man Colts are getting screwed here. They miss out on Barkley by one pick. Miss out on Chubb. And now they have dropped all the way to 15th in the draft. It was assumed they didn't want to drop out of the top 10 and miss out on elite talent and that is why they dealt with the Jets instead of the Bills. They could have traded to 12th with the Bills and picked up two additional first round picks on top of that for the Bills to move up to 3. -

Well there you go. That's why the Colts should have swapped picks with the Bucs. Not a bad pick for the Bucs either IMO. Broncos could still get Mayfield at #7 assuming the Colts stay at #6. -

Why did the Bears trade with the 49ers when they didn't need to? Colts could get nervous that another team will try to trade up for the player considered to be the best in the draft. I still see the Broncos as a wild card too. They could go QB or they could go a number of different ways as well. -

I see Denver moving back one spot and Colts moving up one spot to get Barkley here. -

Not a bad pick at all. Everyone thinks Barkley should be the pick but Garrett and Chubb could be a nasty duo of edge rushers for years to come. Plus, RB is still a dime a dozen position for the most part. -
Lamar Jackson at 22?

This. You don't mess around with the QB position. You don't take a QB in the first wound, regardless of pick number, just to take one. Taking a QB in the first round automatically comes with long term commitment (three years at minimum). So if you like a QB in the first round just take him with the first chance you have which for us it at #12. -
Been feeling this way too. 0% chance Giants stay at #2 and select any player that doesn't play the QB position. I think Goff and Carr will go down similar roads. Good QBs but never true franchise guys. But top half of the league (top 18-14 type QBs). With the occasional great year sprinkled in.

I think ultimately the Mario signing was a good one for Buffalo. His stats in his first three seasons with Buffalo were pretty much exactly what he averaged in his best seasons. In that sense, we got exactly what we should have expected. The big mistake or problem was switching the defense in year four when Rex came in. Mario may have been on the decline by then anyway but that switch in scheme certainly didn't do him any favors.

Probably so Eli can start a couple more seasons before Allen is ready. The other rookies would likely start much sooner. -

I suggest Bills inquire about the cost to land Brady since he is on the market. Hard to know what day is Sunday when it's the off-season. -
Bills have private workout with Baker Mayfield
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Same here but i see some pretty clear differences in the two. Wasn't Johnny Football a star coming out of HS? Mr. Football and all. Where as Baker had to walk on to his college team. One took his talents for granted. The other worked hard to develop his skills and earn the starting job. -

Nothing to do with wealth. Poster I was quoting was holding the desire to be famous against Mayfield and him not sticking around or being all in with Buffalo. The same can at least be said and held against Rosen as a possible negative. -

We need this guy in a Bills uniform. He's my #1 QB now. I was torn between him and Darnold but the more I think about Darnold, the more I think he is going to be a slightly better Jay Cutler in the NFL (consistency issues). Which isn't bad but still isn't good enough. The guy is from Texas and played at Oklahoma. Plus, with social media these days anyone can become a star anywhere. If they desire to become one. That stuff isn't a big concern for me. I'd be more worried about a guy like Rosen in that aspect for sure.
