What does that even matter? Josh Allen is considered by some to be the top prospect in this draft? Yet most of us will put our remote through the TV if we pick him in the first round. The only thing that matters is if they end up being good in the NFL and if our scouts and GM were able to recognize their potential and spend a draft pick on them. I think our biggest problem since Kelly retired is that we hold onto bad to average QBs too long. JP, Edwards, Fitz, Taylor all were given multiple seasons to develop. The plug should have been pulled on these guys immediately. EJ was the only one really who was pulled quickly thanks to Marrone. But we didn't really have a back up with potential. That is where repeatedly trying comes into play and the Bills just don't try hard enough as others have said. Your OP is wrong then. Trading away multiple picks is not suffering. You only suffer when you finish 1-15, 3-13. It is completely possible to trade away player and picks and not finish 3-13. Trading away picks and players in no way automatically equals suffering.

All the reasons to draft Josh Allen...

Allen is Brock Osweilier with more mobility. But not enough mobility to make him worth having as a QB. -
He should sign with New England. Back up Brady for a couple years and then either take over or build even more value and get traded to a team that will pay him a huge contract. Tyrod is likely looking at a back up role no matter where he goes. Miami might not be a bad chose for him. Tannehill is not a set in stone franchise QB so a window very well could open that makes him the starter.

Mayock on WGR

Cousins has been doing as much winning as Taylor over the last three years. The guy may be able to throw the ball a lot but success has been limited. -
If Darnold doesn’t go #1

And then you have Pittsburgh and the LA Chargers who could draft a QB earlier to groom under Big Ben or Rivers. -
IMO Brady surpassed Montana after he won his fourth against the Seahawks. He cemented himself as the GOAT after last years comeback against the Falcons to the point where he could literally go 0-4 to finish out his career and it would have zero negative impact. I'm mean the dude is old as dirt by QB standards. Any Super Bowl appearances at this point to finish out his career are just icing on top. We might not ever see another QB play in 8 Super Bowls ever again. I doubt we even see one play in six.

The Darkhorse No One has Mentioned

Ditto. With his injury history Bradford won't cost more than $10 million per year and that's what OP is willing to pay DA. With Bradford you at least get a QB with big upside. -
Probably the majority of HOFers but a Wall of Fame is several halls down from the HOF. McCoy has to play 3 more seasons here just to match his time played in Philly.
-
Oh okay.
-
Actually Shady is 4th in rushing yards over the 2016-2017 seasons. Elliot and Bell are 1 and 2 despite the multiple game suspensions each has served and Jordan Howard is 3rd.
-
Different time and era. Cookie lead the 8 team AFL in rushing yards and rushing TDs in two out of those three seasons. McCoy has not lead the league in any statistical category in his three seasons with Buffalo.
-
The two have been nearly identical through the first 9 years of their careers, especially with regards to total rushing yards and yards per rush average. Pro-Football-Reference McCoy holds a 10 total TD advantage and about 700 yard advantage in Total Scrimmage Yards. McCoy will need to continue to have a strong end to his career into his 30's to keep up with Gore though. Their numbers are close enough that if McCoy is elite than that pretty much puts Gore on the doorsteps of elite as well.
-
Jermore Bettis?? That guy has zero business being in the HOF. He got in on longevity. Problem is he was pretty much well below average his entire long career. Gore on the other hand has been above average over a long career. If you get in on longevity you need to at least be above average which both McCoy and Gore have been.
-
I agree he is a future HOFer but disagree with the thinking he had a WOW season for us. It is possible for HOF RB's to only have one WOW type season and make the HOF. Look at Frank Gore's stats. Another future HOFer. Some players get in on having many wow type seasons in a short career while other get in on longevity and consistency. The latter has been more of McCoy's route to the HOF.
-
I'm not getting in a debate about Ritcher or Hansen. We are talking about McCoy here. McCoy has been a Bill for 3 years. No way that is anywhere near long enough for the WOF, IMO. The other guys were Bills for some 25 combined seasons. McCoy needs a WOW season or he needs to at least stick around two more years at minimum if not three more.
-
Not when he doesn't even total 1300 rushing yards. A wow season was his 2013 season when he went over 2100 yards from scrimmage.
-
McCoy has yet to have a "WOW" type of season in his 3 years with us. I don't believe there is any official criteria for making the WOF but I think he needs at least another two solid seasons of production with us like he has had in his first three.

The Cousins Plan
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to NastyNateSoldiers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm starting to warm up to the idea of signing Cousins. I like the benefit of keeping all our draft picks. If we somehow made the playoffs with Taylor and Peterman we definitely have a good shot to repeat with Cousins. He also seems like a McDermott type of guy as well. I don't think Cousins has the build or arm talent of a QB that will last into his late 30's. But even if he completely falls apart at 35 that still means he gave us 5 solid years and figure he signs a six year contract, that's not bad. We just have to eat the last year where he totally sucks. Also, I don't think Kirk will get the astronomical money people think he will get. I think it's closer to $23 million per year than $27 million. I think for Cousins, he was just done with Washington no matter what unless they were going to give him stupid $30+ million kind of money. But I could see him taking less from literally any other team just so he can get out of Washington.
