  1. I'm with you on the Micah Hyde signing, but that's it. Upgrade at FB? It's FB. Same with Kicker. Kicker was going to be upgraded with or without Gilmore just based on how bad Carpenter was. And with kickers you never know when they will lose it anyway. Remember, Carp was great when he first arrived. And while it is nice we have Hyde, who filled an obvious hole at Safety, now we have an obvious hole at CB, so in the end, it's net neutral.
  2. Doesn't exactly seem like we got real good bang for our buck with that extra 12 million so far. Management should have had the foresight to sign Gilmore to a more team friendly contract extension a season or two ago. Waiting till the player hits free agency never works out.
  3. I understand you can't retain all your talented home grown players, but that should be the goal. Yes a rookie will be cheaper than Gilmore, but there is a chance the rookie could bust. Also, instead of filling another hole in the roster with the pick, we have to replace a position that was already set last season. Hence the spinning wheels. Eventually the goal has to be able to retain good players. Not just pick another one after their rookie deal is up. It helps if you can be proactive and give players like Gilmore a 2-3 year extension a season or two before their final season.
  4. My vote would be for Maybin even over a bust like Flowers. Maybin was a top 10 draft pick, making his bust worse compared to Flowers who I think was a late first round pick. And compared to Williams who was a top 3 pick, Maybin was a head scratching pick where you could question what management was thinking when other players were available. Williams was a consensus good pick at the time.
  5. The way OBD operates that probably is their goal. Hopefully, they have one or two guys they actually really like and aren't just drafting a QB to draft one.
  6. As long as the trade does not cost us a 2018 1st round pick I'm good with anything. That means we would probably have to move into the very late first round. 28-32.
  7. Taking a CB in the first round would be another management failure. You fail to lock up a starting CB longterm and the first off-season he leaves you spend a top 10 pick on that same position? More spinning wheels. I don't deny that it is a need, but boy does it look bad for management.
  8. Who? I've never even heard of this guy. And he was an amazing college QB?
  9. He looks like a Blake Bortles type guy to me. Somewhere along the Bortles and Tannehill spectrum. I don't think he completely flops like a Gabbert.
  10. We all know there is only one Patriot for life and he doesn't wear Butler's number.
  11. I know exactly who you are talking about but I can't recall his name. That was a poor WR draft. I'm not sure any went in the first round that year. Same year we got Hardy I think. I believe a couple of good ones like Jordy Nelson and Desean Jackson were taken in the second round.
  12. Have you noticed the players they've dropped this off-season? Jets will win 3 games next year at the most. They are in full tank mode.
  13. Unless we bring in a decent free agent, we are going to have to address the position within the first two rounds.
  14. It doesn't matter if it's a mile long bridge or a 100 yard bridge. A bridge is a bridge. It has to do with a QB's overall ability. Tannehill's ability is that of a bridge QB. I didn't name those organizations just to name them. They are examples of teams who have routinely tanked, intentionally or not and have nothing to show for it.
  15. Bill Barnwell broke down that Glennon has a 54% completion percentage on throws between 0 and 10 yards. The NFL average is 73% for such throws. Glennon is going to have to improve that percentage significantly if he is going to succeed.
  16. I think we all know this. Sammy's two worst enemeis are 1. a limited QB in run heavy scheme and 2. his own health issues We have seen Sammy when healthy put up big numbers even with a limited QB and run heavy scheme but we have also seen him get neglected with the same QB and scheme. And then of course he hasn't helped himself with his injuries.
  17. That's why you have a good vetting process. If only Trump owned the team.
  18. Fills arguably our biggest hole on defense so that is nice. I'd like to see us bring in a veteran CB so we are not forced to use a day one or two draft pick on one. Biggest question marks still are WR#2, WR#3 and CB#2/#3.
  19. Problem with trying to tank, presuably to get a top QB next year, have you seen how well the Jets are set up to tank this year? I'd also still throw the Browns in there as well. They will be a very young team all around next year so I still see them as a 2-3 win team max. I know anything can happen, but currently as the two teams are constructed it is hard to see the Bills losing to the Jets twice. And that speaks more to how much worse the Jets are on paper compared to last year because I don't think the Bills currently are any better on paper, we've probably taken a step back for sure. But Jets have taken several steps back. Also, throw in the very real possibility of Darnold going back to school. Because there are plenty of examples of teams that have used a "bridge QB" and have still managed to make the playoffs. Dolphins last year are a perfect example. Their team was nothing special overall and there QB is nothing special. Yet they made the playoffs. For the Bills to not be able to make one playoff appearance over the last 17 years with a bridge QB is just another embarrassment on a long list of embarrassments. How many times have the Browns and Rams blown it up and gotten nowhere? Tanking does not guarantee success. Jets seem to have a leg up on us in that race anyways. Even if we released Taylor, Jets overall are probably worse. And Browns with such a young roster will likely still be pretty bad, much like the Rams have always been bad with young rosters.
  20. He's a good corner. I wouldn't say elite. He's getting paid like an elite corner.
  21. It's shocking from a Patriots stand point. When is the last time they went out and signed a free agent for top dollar? That is not there thing.
  22. That is shocking if true. Hopefully this signing works out for them as well as the Byrd signing did for the Saints.
