  1. Yeah. That's why we needed or still need to try to work a deal to #7 or #8. That way if we trade to #1 or #2 the Browns or Giants can still get an elite player that will fall with all the Qbs being taken in the top 5.
  2. I'm guessing similar to when Goff and Wentz came out we probably like two guys at minimum in this draft. Eagles traded up to #2 knowing they would get one of the two and that was fine with them.
  3. I don't think that has ever been the plan. My guess is Beane is shooting for #1 or #2 before draft day.
  4. Does seem a little steep considering the Colts are only dropping back 3 spots. Bills would have given up the same plus the #22 pick at minimum. But at the end of the day you got to give up whatever you have to if you believe in your guy. Hopefully we work something out for #1 or #2 still.
  5. If we move up to #3 before the draft. That's a signal IMO that Beane has a clear top 3 and we are likely to stay put at 3 and take whoever comes to us. I would assume the top three in no particular order would be Rosen, Darnold and Allen. I'd prefer Mayfield over Allen, but I don't think Mayfield is a Beane kind of prospect. If on the other hand, Beane has only a top two, say Rosen and Darnold, I think he tries like hell to move up to #2 or #1 before the draft. And that would signal to me that he does not like Allen. All speculation of course. I suspect Beane has a #1 guy. But I think he has a top three he is very comfortable taking. And if that is the case, he may not sell the farm to get to #1 or #2. Not sure he feels the same way about the top four though. Anyone think we trade up to #7 (Tampa) or #8 (Chicago) in the coming days? What this does is it enables us to trade to #2 or #3 and the Giants or Colts can still draft in the top 10. Could be appealing to them if they still want to get an elite prospect.
  6. Do we really have a big hole at CB3? It's not expected that you have a starting caliber CB at CB3. I think out starting secondary is good enough that I don't see CB3 as a glaring weakness.
  7. We need to find a Goodwin from another team. One teams trash is another teams treasure. Too old.
  8. https://www.theringer.com/2017/6/30/16077380/sports-nba-offseason-nfl-free-agency-chris-paul-aaron-rodgers-d480daa52ab1 The above is an article from last summer as NBA Free Agency was going on. There are probably more but that was the first one i found. At the time I remember there was a lot of conversation about 1. NBA players getting ridiculously sized contracts and some NFL players voicing their jealousy. and 2. The NBA off-season/free agency was much more exciting then the NFL off-season and free agency. Fast forward to this year and with out question this has been the most dramatic beginning to an NFL Free Agency period that I can recall. And we haven't even actually started Free Agency yet. It begs the question. Were NFL execs listening to some of the criticism from the media regarding the NBA having a greater free agency period last summer? Is it possible the commissioner sent a memo to owners and GMs to be more active?
  9. I don't buy into the narrative that their are no top QBs in this draft like previous drafts. I think the issue is that their are legitimately 4-5 that all have similar grades which drives the narrative that we don't know who is the best of the bunch and therefore there must mean there are no top QBs. If this was your typical year that only has two top QBs then any of the two would be considered the obvious number 1 and number 2 picks. Selecting franchise QBs in the draft is not an exact science. You just never know what you are going to get. I don't see how these 4-5 prospects are any worst than Goff and Wentz two years ago. Or Winston and Marriota a couple years before that. But since those drafts only had two top QBs it made it appear as if things were more clear and straightforward.
  10. Exactly this. Think of our QB purgatory. Multiply that by 100 and you have Cleveland's QB purgatory. I means seriously. Their one bright spot was Hoyer starting like 7 games one year before he was injured? That is a QB hell we haven't even experienced.
  11. Browns will draft a top rookie QB so I don't really see this message from Sal as relevant. We had Taylor and nobody else at the position. Browns will have Taylor and a future franchise QB. That makes things look a lot greener. The moment Taylor's shine starts to where off they just put the rookie or second year QB in. But it very well may take a while for that shine to wear off because we are talking about the Browns here. The only team more starved for a franchise QB than we are. We held onto guys like Fitz and Taylor for too long because we loved their flashes of greatness and overall average QB play. Assuming Taylor plays like he did over the three years he was here with us. Browns fans will love Taylor at least for year one. Didn't see your post before I posted mine. Exactly what i posted about season one. We did the same thing with Fitz and Taylor. Browns will be fine and they'll actually have a future QB behind Taylor. Something we never had. Until proven otherwise the present and the future is that QB that threw 5 picks in one half.
  12. I think there was a very small chance he would have been here next year but only under the condition of a first round pick waiting in the wings. I was fine with him coming back in 2017. And we ended the drought in a wacky way, so hey, all things worked out. Our running game in 2016 fell under the category of explosive. Browns could find similar success if Barkley is as advertised.
  13. RB's should never be taken in the first. That's obvious to a lot of fans. But for some reason teams still get enamored enough with some to take them in the first round. Some even in the top 10. Crazy. I do think the Browns take Barkley #1. I don't think they should though.
  14. If he were to land in Indy I would think it would have to be for their 2nd round pick. Eagles may give Reich a discount. Plus the value is close to a late first anyway. But I don't see this happening.
  15. This move certainly takes the stink off of the Chris Ivory signing. I'm sure Cleveland will be fine. Best case scenario for Cleveland is that the rookie they draft at #1 or #4 beats Taylor out in training camp and pre-season and wins the job. Worst case, Taylor throws for 3100 yards and 20 TDs plus his rushing impact. That would be A LOT better than what Cleveland has been used to these last 20 years at the position.
  16. Not a big fan of this move. We'll see how it turns out.
  17. I agree with your point here. BUT, that can also be seen as an indictment on the failures of the Browns GM's and scouting department. It's possible nobody really knows which QB is the best or even which two QBs are the best. But it's likely one of them or two of them will be the better QBs. Browns not being able to decipher which QB or QBs those are is not a good thing.
  18. 1. Darnold 2. Mayfield 3. Rosen 4. Jackson Those are the only four quarterbacks I would consider drafting. I see all four has first round picks. I see all four being drafted by #21. Allen might go top #21 too just hope it's not us drafting him. I have a feeling Mayfield is going to be special. I would rank Darnold and Mayfield in the top tier. Rosen in the second tier. And Jackson in the third tier. Again, with all four being worthy of being drafted by the middle of the first round.
  19. Is Andrew Luck worth the 1st and 4th overall picks in a draft that is considered to have multiple franchise QBs? If I'm Cleveland I'd only trade the 1st overall and one of their seconds for Luck. I see us having to give up three firsts to get it done at minimum. #21, #22 and our first in 2019. It will depend on how far down the draft board the Giants or willing to fall. If they really like a couple prospects that are likely to go top 10 then they might not be willing to trade with us. They'll make a deal with either Denver, NY Jets or Arizona. They can stay in the top ten, draft an elite talent and pick up a 2019 1st. I disagree. You don't take a RB #1 overall over a franchise QB in today's NFL. Waiting till #4 to select their QB guarantees they are taking the 3rd best QB in the draft because I see QBs going #2 and #3 in that scenario. Teams will trade up with the Colts and Giants. That's if the Giants don't draft one themselves.
  20. I've been saying the same since the season ended. The defense had no improvement over 2016 and the offense completely fell apart compared to 2016. Yet the 2017 team was the one that ended the drought. Didn't make a lot of sense but we were all just happy for a playoff game. Lot's of work to do still though.
  21. I'm not very high on Bridgewater. Could he be better than Taylor? Maybe. Could he be a lot better than Taylor? Doubt it.
  22. This would hurt Brady and the Patriots more than any other team so I can't be completely against it. I think the the thin most of us hate is when a team gets the ball at the one yard line or even inside of the 5 because of a iffy call that happened on a 50 yard pass play. They need to fix those calls for those situations. Not necessarily the entire rule.
  23. My standards are a little lower based on the last 17 years.
  24. Johnson was a terrific nickle corner for us last year I thought. Wright was so-so. I see Gaines as likely gone.
  25. He's going to get paid way to much to be second fiddle to Shady in our system. Unless we plan on a near even split in touches between the two I can't see it making sense. I'd kick the tires on seeing if we could get Gills back since apparently Belicheck doesn't have a use for him.
