  1. To respond to the original question, I would say yes, the Bills are a regional team. Bills "country" is all of WNY, extends east to Rochester and south to more or less the Pennsylvania border. Southern Ontario - Fort Erie, Niagara Falls, etc. is Bills country, but as you move west and north and get closer to Toronto, it becomes less so - NFL fans there seem to prefer many teams. Heading east, once you get past Rochester and get closer to Syracuse, it definitely becomes more of a mix of Bills, Giants and Jets. Separate and apart from this, as noted above in many places, the Bills have a very large national following. Bills fans are everywhere and are proud to be so. Bills fans in other markets tend to have a larger sense of comradery than fans of a lot of other teams that may be living out of their home market. I have encountered Bills fans all over the United States and internationally too.
  2. He's a great talent, but not exactly a process guy. Plus, saying he'd like to play with Tre White is not the same as saying he'd like to play in Buffalo.
  3. I'm not an Apple guy. I use all Android devices and I'm a Directv subscriber. I think this would be bad for me. At least with Directv, you can negotiate a good price (or even free) most years - with a little work. Once it goes to Apple or another streaming service, those negotations and discounts are likely over. The upshot is that I am no longer tied to Directv for my primary television service....If it goes to a streaming service, I would perfer Amazon Prime, which I already subscribe to. I could also live with Disney/ESPN+. Although I don't currently subscribe, they do have enough content that my family and I are interested in.
  4. I'm glad the Bills are not on it. I can't see how publicly airing the private operations of a team would be beneficial. Then again, I also don't watch much TV outside of sports (the games themselves) and I am not a big fan of reality TV. I do enjoy the 30-for-30 series, but those documentaries typically take place several years after the events occurred, so they wouldn't have much impact on the current state of affairs.
  5. I don't think it makes sense to trade a proven producer and veteran team leader in Hughes when the three young guys are unknown quantities. Two are rookies and one is a 2nd year guy who got limited reps last year. Addision, on the other hand, was brought in as a veteran, has only been with the team one year, and he was not particularly productive, so I could see moving on from him. That said, did Addison restructure his contract? If so, parting ways with a guy who made that concession for the team is not a good look as far as attracting future free agents. The Bills are probably good enough to be able to overcome that, but it still isn't a good look.
  6. For what it's worth, I have NFL Sunday Ticket, which has online streaming included with the package. I use it all the time when I travel domestically. Two years ago, I was traveling in Europe and wanted to stream the games to my tablet. The Sunday Ticket app sees the foreign IP address and won't allow access. I had the same problem trying to watch college games on ESPN. The solution was to purchase a VPN for my device. It make the web site or app think that you are operating in the city where the VPN comes from, and you can set it to various U.S. cities. It worked great for college football. Unfortunately, the Sunday Ticket app was not fooled by the VPN and I couldn't access the Bills games. I was pretty frustrated. I'm sure many of you who are far more technical than I am could explain how this works and why it didn't work, but I figured I would share my experience. I was only out of the country for a couple of weeks, so puchasing Game Pass was not a viable option when I was already subscribed to Sunday Ticket.
  7. Allen has everything you'd want for advertising - he's a great athlete and leader. His teams have had success. He's tall, strong, handsome, charismatic, funny, relatable, etc. My guess is that he's more focused on football and family and if and when he wants to do commercials, he'll do them. Perhaps he is more focused on working with Jordan Palmer on his footwork and accuracy than he is on getting to the studio for a shoot. I seem to recall Andrew Luck, during the early part of his career, declining advertising gigs to focus on football and perhaps Josh is in the same camp.
  8. I agree with the posts above that say that Hollister makes the team and that Gentry either ends up getting cut or on the PS. Hollister is an established NFL player who had a decent run with the Seahwaks and he plays a position of need. Gentry's NFL career hasn't really gotten off the ground and he plays a position where the team has a lot of depth. Josh's influence may have gotten his friend a shot at making another NFL team and a few bucks in his pocket, but I don't think it's enough to get him a spot on the 53. If he makes it as a 6th or 7th WR, he'll have to earn it.
  9. I know Schein from him being on Inside the NFL on Showtime. I honestly found him annoying was not a big fan. Based on his support of the Bills and Josh Allen, I'm thinking about changing my stance on him.
  10. Thanks, but I don't need any sunscreen. The hat and long sleeve shirt cover it. My legs will be fine.
  11. It will be interesting to see if this is a temporary COVID-related move, or if it turns out to be a permanent decision.
  12. There is precedent for guys coming back from major knee injuries being better in year 2 than they were in year 1 post-surgery. That, combined with the fact that Phillips played pretty well prior the injury (and played better later in the season last year), gives me some hope that he may bounce back and be the guy they drafted him to be.
  13. I'm surprised that Sanders didn't show up. You'd think he'd be anxious to meet his new teammates and start learning the offense.
  14. Allen made an unprecedented statistical jump in a season with no fans. Some people think that there's a correlation. Whether there's a correlation or not, I don't think the concept is that hard to get.
  15. I don't think it will affect Rodgers. He's a veteran who has made great plays, won a SB, and done virtually everything an NFL QB can do in front of full crowds. Might it impact Allen, who had his breakout season with no/few fans, or Herbert, who had a great rookie year with no fans? It's possible. I can't speak for Herbert, but Josh is the kind of guy who works as hard as he can to overcome his deficiencies, so if crowd noise does negatively impact his play this year, I suspect that it's something he will work on until he masters it.
  16. I agree that Evans has arguably had the better career than OBJ, but he was off the board before the Bills original pick was made. OBJ was still available. After the trade up, however, the Bills could have had any of them. The thing people talk about is that we could have had OBJ without trading up, whereas we traded up for Watkins (at a very steep price) and would have had to trade up for Evans.
  17. I don't have time to read 8 pages of this thread, so forgive me if I am echoing what others have said. Football is a team sport and is all about chemistry. To an extent, that chemistry even extends to the fanbase and community. Mahomes may be a better QB than Allen (and as time passes, he may not), but they are both great players. Allen has a chemistry with the Bills players, coaches, fans and community. The chemistry has developed over the last few years and continues to grow and improve with time. He's the perfect fit for this team, right now. So no, I wouldn't make that swap. (And Mahomes has a similar chemistry where he is in KC.)
  18. Continuity has some value, but if they have their starting 5 set and make it through a full-offseason, training camp, pre-season and get into the regular season with the same 5, they should be fine. For the sake of the Bills, let's hope that this does not happen.
  19. Most of the coaches at the top of this list are current, active coaches. That says to me that the use of analytics has played a role in this.
  20. A few quick hitters: 1) I do think there are 3, including Detroit; 2) Chicago is amazing in the summer - go if you can; I lived there for a long time; Solider Field is right on the lakefront 3) I, too, enjoy preseason. I like seeing the rookies and UDFAs play and weighing in on who might make the team. It's a different kind of interest than a regular season game, but enjoyable nonetheless. How else would this board have material for discussions about 5th string running backs in the International Program?
  21. These comparisons are tough to make. They played under different coaches with different casts of characters. To draw parallels, Marino is more like Peyton Manning and Kelly is more like Brett Favre. Both all-time greats, but different personalities and different kinds of players. While I'd say that Marino was the better pure passer, Kelly was a better football player overall, and perhaps a better leader.
  22. I think it's great that he's in fantastic shape and I expect that he'll have a very good season. Reasons why? 1) As mentioned, he's in fantastic shape and reports are that he's worked on his explosiveness; 2) he knows that Moss and Brieda present competition for his job and he'll step up; 3) the team will be dedicated to improving the run blocking schemes and play calling, plus they have added some pieces to the OL in addition to the returning vets
