We went a few years ago and stayed with old friends for a few days before we went to the Aria and my wife went to work an event. Our friends had a big surprise for us, which turned out to be the helicopter trip into the Grand Canyon. It was a very kind and generous gift. My wife and I shared a glance and never mentioned that we had done the helicopter trip when we were out a few years earlier. It is a great excursion, and it’s ironic that I type this while watching The Bucket List.

I cannot IMAGINE Tua surviving a game like that. But I’d like to see him try! 😋

I was screaming “TOUCHDOWN!!!” before Cook ever crossed the LOS. That was absolutely beautiful!

A friend from Hungary invited us to a dinner party at her place. There were 12-14 of us, and I was the only one who had never been to Hungary. How could that be? She made some traditional Hungarian dishes. Maybe it grows on you? 🤷‍♂️

I have my regular lunch places and I tend to have my favorite items at each place. One place for a Cobb salad, one for a Caesar salad. I get the same two tacos and cucumber salad at another place. I am often asked “do you even want a menu?” I’m a creature of habit, and I know what I like. I chose my dish when I chose my destination. If we go out for dinner it will almost always be fish, but I like to hear the specials. I am NOT shy about asking how much the special is after learning my lesson the hard way. We were at a tourist trap at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco 25+ years ago and I ordered the delicious sounding seafood special. When the bill arrived I learned that my dinner alone was about $85, and this is a quarter century ago. I am the fool if I am too lazy or shy to ask now. Speaking of specials, I think it was Anthony Bourdain who warned that they are often made of things the chef needs to get rid of as it’s been sitting around longer than ideal.

Honestly, they have done a pretty good job of filling those DL holes, even if on a bunch of one year deals. Marvin Harrison Jr is a stud. If you already have a QB, I don’t see how you pick anyone else in this draft if you have a shot at him. There will be some good WR’s later, of course, but every time I see him he looks like the best player on the field. And it doesn’t seem very close.

My wife went to a sorority reunion at the beach. Her best friend arrived and asked “OK, what’s up with everybody? Not the FaceBook BS, what’s really going on? I’ll start, I have one kid in prison, one in rehab and a doctor and a lawyer.” Things got pretty “real” as they say quickly after that. Your real, true friends are the ones you go to with the rough stuff. Everybody is there for the birthdays and graduations. Who is there to help you move or take you to the airport at an odd time? Who will go bail your kid out if you need it? Those are your true friends. .

I don’t want us to hire a 71 year old HC. I don’t care who he is. His giant ego probably tells him he’s a solid GM and he’d want those powers. No thank you, very much.

I would give Harbaugh about the same welcome I’d give Rex if he came back. No thank you. His schtick grows old fast, and there’s always about as much talk about his next stop as his current job. We all keep hearing Ben Johnson, but it’s a big leap from OC to HC. No slam dunk there. Whatever they do, I won’t be fretting over it too much. These are things that are beyond our control so it’s not worth getting too emotionally involved or upset about it.

I would hope everyone watching, but I’m not in control of that. I’m not a Josh hater by ANY means, but we rarely seem in synch these days. There are a lot of factors involved, many we know nothing about.

Now we are changing the subject I was referring to.
