  1. Sorry, too late. Maybe a short thread turns into a long thread because you personally respond to and preach to every poster in it. You are generally better than this, but this “read before you post stuff” is tiresome. I’m not reading EVERY post in a long thread. Some people I don’t read at all! I asked a question I believe BEFORE it was answered, and I think it was a fair question. I didn’t need a half dozen answers to it, but I got them. Rather than chastise the people who were not first to respond, I simply thank them. Maybe he’s recovering from an injury late last season? Maybe he’s trying to reduce wear and tear. Maybe he’s had some kind of illness or personal matter. There are countless possibilities. It was a fair and reasonable question. .
  2. We were in Breckenridge for the kids first ski trip during March Madness. They were big AAU Hoops kids and used to go to UNC camp in Chapel Hill each summer. I hope I NEVER forget the night we watched UNC play at some place (Eric’s Down Under?) while we played games in the arcade section and ate. The kind of night that can choke you up. One of those great memories. My problem with Breckenridge was the altitude. We were coming from about 12-14 feet. (We could hear the boats, but seeing the boats costs a tad bit more.) Breckenridge was significantly higher. The town (I just peeked) is 9,600 feet. I hate math, but I think that is exactly……..a LOT! It got us. The youngest bent over to make his first snowball and I barely caught his hood before his face hit the sidewalk. We spent $400 at Main Street Oxygen, like many people before us, and spent the first day or two in the condo with tubes up our noses! YAY!!! What fun! 😂 EDIT for PSA reasons: We’ve learned since then, from people who made the same mistake we did, is you fly into Denver and spend a night a mile up, before going up to almost double that. .
  3. Oh, I know who I believe, but I’m not going there. Not here, not in a bar next to some guy. Nothing is gained. Nobody is persuaded.
  4. The idea of skiing is growing on me again. 😋 Somewhere above is a comment about some place being too flat. THAT would be my kind of place! My sister is partner in a big ski house in Killington. It was brutally cold, and the snow wasn’t great on my couple trips there, but they had the longest greenest trail I’ve ever seen. Loved that! I want nothing death defying, I just want a nice easy glide for gentle pleasure.
  5. I think that is a stretch, to say the least. I think they did a good job of finding replacements for guys who were actually their first choices. The truth is, we are still missing Pro Bowl type players, and that hurts any team.
  6. This is not political to me at all. They turned me down too and I have to admit I was kinda pissed at the time. But things have turned out fine with me on the fringes, instead. The title is factual and fair, IMO.
  7. When they are gone, even just to the groomer, there is almost a palpable difference in how the house feels. Some kind of energy is missing. When they are gone and not coming back, that loss takes on a greater intensity for a while. It is so empty and quiet. I know people who never got another dog because it was so hard to face the loss. We take the opposite approach and look forward to adding a new member to the family after some proper time. We usually have had two at a time, and they are truly best friends. I won’t suggest what is best for anyone else. That is far too personal. But I will say that time helps quite a bit. It’s a bit too slow and gradual, but it happens. Like so many things in life, make a point of enjoying what we have in the here and now. I just took our girls into the newly upgraded backyard, where they proceeded to do their best to trash everything planted over the last two days by a large crew. The puppy can’t be trusted, but even the 3 year old gave me the finger, I think! They were running thru all these cool new plants like a drag race thru a long car wash! What a great new game! They probably couldn’t hear me yelling to stop for the sound of all the snapping plants going off in their ears. Hey! It ain’t ALL perfect! 😂
  8. So, are we NOT firing him now? It’s hard to keep up.
  9. Provided at each entry gate, gratis.
  10. No complaints here.
  11. Serious question: why is he available?
  12. It wouldn’t make me patient. It would make me stop watching, as I was close to doing with Rex. I don’t care who it is, I don’t want to start building anything with a head coach in his 70’s. BUT, I am in full agreement…..I don’t like BB or Kraft either! 😋
  13. If he is not doing the job of the title assigned to him, it’s “something”, and “stunt” is about as good of a word as any.
  14. If he was brought in to repair fan relationships and build goodwill, it’s a bit of a stunt. He wasn’t much of a GM. Just sayin’……
  15. But at least he was OUR stunt. It’s not like we brought in Darth Vader as a figure head.
  16. Belichick never got over the hump without Brady. Andy Reid didn’t win a trophy….until he did. I want NOTHING to do with Belichick as a person or a coach. Belichick has shown he is a lousy GM and doesn’t always play well with others. Fortunately, you are correct that I don’t think we have to worry about it.
  17. I would have absolutely ZERO desire to have a new coach come in at 71 years old. You are not “building” anything with a 71 year old HC, you are pulling a stunt.
  18. Knee injury back when they were not as good with repairs. I think he tried to come back, but it just wasn’t the same. It’s easy to forget now, but back then an ACL was generally thought of as a career ending injury.
  19. I was at a sales meeting at work and they did a “guess who this was” thing. Buried after an avalanche in Switzerland for some ridiculous time. Not sure if he got his ski back. 😂 Crazy story!
  20. No, the title is not an opinion. The bank would not lend him the money according to reports. There is no opinion in that.
  21. It can be like no other loss. We are on my 8th Golden, so many have gone before. It was always hell. On another page of life my wife loses her father and mother with more grace than I can muster at the final events. BUT THEN, we lost our 14 year old best friend a few months ago, and I have never seen her devastated like that. And yes, there are tears running down my face, even now. Step back and give yourself a chance to grieve.
  22. I’ve never wanted to be banned more! I’m so….conflicted. Should we start a $5 pool to guess who steps in it first? 😂
  23. Braggart! I’d have been in those shoes (let’s call it shoes) if given a chance. It might have saved me. Everybody is different. Who’s to say? 🤷‍♂️ 😋
  24. Park City is beautiful. That was the last place I skied, and I’m OK if that was the last time I ski in my life. I love the trips, the falling snow, tubing, snowmobiles and sitting by the fire with a beverage. It’s the actual skiing that I don’t love about “ski trips”. I have no desire to experience ACL surgery. I just had my annual eye exam and my Doc recently tore her ACL taking the kids skiing. I don’t want to join that club. .
  25. Thanksgiving is my wife’s meal. Somehow that just came to be the case, just like we became the place for family and friends at Thanksgiving. It just happened that way. 🤷‍♂️ Other than Thanksgiving I’ve done 90%+ of the cooking in recent years. I enjoyed it and had by far the more forgiving schedule, even before I retired. In recent years I’ve lost the drive to cook because the world has gotten so picky about what they will eat. It’s not just the vegetarian DIL, it’s damn near everybody! Growing up food was put in front of us and we ate it or went hungry. Now? I understand allergies are real, but some people just choose to be picky. One will do chicken or fish, but no red meat. Other won’t eat fish (or anything that “swims in it’s own poop”). Some won’t do pasta, and shrimp can be hit or miss. I’m tired of trying to please people, so I don’t. I’m not making different meals for the people coming over, so I might do an entree option that folks can ignore, and the wife loads up sides and things from Whole Foods. I enjoyed creating meals, but I got tired of trying to figure out who would eat what.
