I’m a Bills fan and I always will be, but I care less about the NFL every year. If Buffalo still had the Braves, I might still watch some NBA. As it is, I don’t even watch the Finals, and I change the station when they start talking NBA on sports talk radio. I get more music in my life, so it’s not all bad.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling meeting with the Bills (UPDATE: Signed)
Augie replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
I just checked the title, and was surprised to learn that it’s not whining about McD, but that tends to be where most things end up. -
….and I think we have a pretty dynamic duo. We have a great TE room, and people sometimes hate that more than love that. It’s not TE 1 and TE2 the way I see it. It’s two different flavors and there are times for each. .

Things that really piss you off when driving.

Put a little more effort into making sure you DO arrive. Since moving to the lovely traffic of Atlanta I’ve shifted my tune a bit. If anybody needs in, I’ll give you every opportunity to change lanes. We are all in this same sh!t together! -
Would you consider yourself a nostalgic person?

It’s been 30 years, so I’m sure none of the same people are around. It was reassuring to know that we were unlikely to draw attention to ourselves from our old neighbors, and therefore hopefully not draw any kind of rifle fire. . -
But that humidity will still leave players susceptible to cramps that time of year. It’s brutal, but somehow I loved it while playing tennis.

I was too late with “everyone else”, but we are thinking alike. BTW - I live in Atlanta, so this is a typical kinda thing for me. -
They have/had one outside of Sarasota, FL and I loved it! It was a special treat for me and especially the family when they were in town.

But that doesn’t point the finger quite as clearly at McD, and some people want that made very clear. -

Absolutely. We just got back from a trip to Hilton Head. That’s where I met my wife and my kids were born. I went to the place we had our first date. We called a friend who called a friend to call in a gate pass so we could drive past one of our old houses. We went by the other places we lived too. We also went to all our favorite restaurants. That happens to me any time I go back to WNY, too. I love going back to see our old houses, and I lived in 9 (really 8 but one of them twice). Yeah, we moved a lot with parents in real estate. But I think all that is pretty natural. I may be too nostalgic, as I have a tendency to prefer the old over the new. I need to be more aware of that in myself and try to be more open to new things. -
I would have said “please do, give him a long term contract and all the control he asks for.” I try to be helpful where possible……as a Bills fan.

I don’t think of him as a “back up”. I think of him as a different flavor.

That is the best word I could find to describe Kincaid as well. I like an athlete out there with body control who can box out, track the ball and twist and turn to catch it. Yes, I crave some more speed to scare the defense, but two years in a row they have gone with fluid pass catchers with solid hands with their first pick. That ain’t nothin’. I have no need for an Al Davis track star who can’t play the sport, but one more legit guy who scares the D deep would be awesome.

NFL Ref John Parry joins NFL team (Update: It’s the Bills!)
Augie replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
It won’t cost you anything, I promise. I like trying something new in an attempt to get better. I can’t see how it could hurt, so why not? -
I don’t know IF they would do it, and I don’t know WHO they would target, but it would make me feel MUCH BETTER about our team and even our draft.

If we add a surcharge of say $25 per post, do you think we could scrape up a dome?
-
That sounds almost personal. Good luck to him!
-
He may be small, but he’s slow! 😋 I like him from what little I’ve seen. He’s not going to run away from anyone in the NFL like those long college runs, but I think he can be effective. I can’t wait to see!!!
-
I saw one set of highlights I really liked of Davis. They showed the long runs, of course. But what I really liked was they showed him to be effective in the passing game, including a bunch of plays where he was very active and willing in protection. There was a lot to love about Thurman back in the day, but him picking up a blitz was a thing of pure beauty.

Was the NBA considered bigger than the NFL in the 90s?
Augie replied to BillsPride12's topic in Off the Wall
I think you’re reading what some NBA fans had to say. Yes, the NBA was more popular then than now, IMO, but there was still a large gap in popularity with the NFL on top. I’d be curious to see how the TV ratings compare, but among my crowd it was NFL all the way. BTW - I loved the NBA when the Braves were in town, enjoyed it in the 90’s, and I don’t even watch the Finals now. We took the kids to too many regular season games and had children say “they’re not even trying!” When they start talking NBA on TV or radio, I change the station. EDIT: I’d be very curious to see how NFL ratings compare to college football over the years. That is the NFL’s real competition for attention. Growing up I just used to hear scores like LeHigh vs Slippery Rock, plus an occasional Notre Dame game. I’ve lived in the South for decades now, and in Atlanta the Falcons are an after-thought. It seems everybody has a college football team they follow closely, and once in a while I’ll see somebody wearing Falcons gear. How much has the gap changed vs how much has my location exaggerated things in my mind? 🤷♂️ . -
Come on now, that is very different from McD “doesn’t know about offense.” That’s quite a stretch, but I’m not at all surprised. And I’d still like to see the exact quote in context.
-
Steep steps has probably been my biggest concern from the beginning. I’ve been to some places that were crazy steep up top, and it can be a real bother. I can’t freak out about until I know how much of a factor it is. No point in me making up worries that may not exist.

As to the bold, do you have a quote or a link or something? .

It’s nice to know for sure who decides the truth. It must be a heavy burden.

Question or topic of the day - a new idea for the board
Augie replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
You tell @BuffaloBill what day of the week you want, then think of clever ideas to entertain us. Make me laugh, funny man! 😂 You try new ideas all the time. There is nothing to lose here, so why not? .
