  1. My father was a germ freak. We could never go on picnics or eat outside because he didn’t want flies landing on his food. The adults got drunk one year and pointed out that there are no flies on New Year’s Day, and a tradition began. For several years a bunch of families would show up on NY Day at a NY state park with snowmobiles, Bloody Mary’s and a nice breakfast to grill. Good times. My wife’s mother and uncle were with us one year in Sarasota. My wife signed us up for some shindig at the Opera House. I had had ZERO alcohol the entire day so I wasn’t too worried when we hit a giant DUI checkpoint 1/4 mile from our house. He asked me where I was going. Home. What’s your address. I told him. He said I could go and I mentioned that that was pretty easy. He pointed to an appliance store parking lot FULL of cars, dozens of them, and said “those people couldn’t do what you just did.” I see no need to be on the road tonight. My mother used to call this Amateur Night.
  2. Undefeated in the division would be great. Letting the Pats* fall a little bit in the draft would be great. Going into the playoffs on a high note would be great. But not at the expense of any player who can help us in a playoff game that actually matters.
  3. That made me wonder, how long has it been since you felt better about our OLine? It’s been a while for me. EDIT: That makes me feel much better about our future. Just find a mountain of a man to clog the middle of the DLine, and we are looking good. .
  4. Think…….preseason. It’s that simple, to me. You want to see some guys show well, and the team to look good, but get out of this healthy. .
  5. But it sure does trade well!!! Let the bidding begin! Who needs a QB most?
  6. Exactly! There is a lot of football left to be played this year. Hopefully a LOT of football. You have to be prepared for all scenarios, but there is no decision to be made at this moment. It’s hard for me to have a strong opinion until I see it play out.
  7. Either that, or have Belichick make the pick! 😊 …or his dog, of course.
  8. I feel badly now that I never figured out the metric system. I think I’ll give in to my wife now and go to his library and museum here in ATL. She says it’s great, so better late than never, I guess.
  9. Our system also allows us to play with more affordable zone corners. Guys like Grabby Sauce Gardner are harder to find and more expensive to keep. We’ve been watching coaching turnover for decades. We know how it really goes. We need bigger or smaller linemen, because we want to be more stout or faster. Groot is really a 4-2 DE, what does he do in a 3-4? All that stuff happens to some degree every time. It’s not the only thing, but it’s a real thing.
  10. I’m hesitant about teams who are peaking late. They are dangerous. I’d like to be one of those teams, but we need some magic on defense. The playoffs are largely about matchups. Being built to beat the Chiefs makes sense, but it’s not much help against the Ravens or the Bengals. You need all kinds of luck, and that includes health and good matchups. .
  11. A life well lived. RIP
  12. Yeah, but neither is like….space and stuff if you listen to some of these guys. 🤷‍♂️
  13. I don’t believe we are allowed to trade other posters, but there may be something in the fine print. Worth looking into.
  14. Buffalo Joe closing fast and making 2 straight tackles. Fast is relative, but great instincts on runs.
  15. Have they had to replace those flags yet? I mean, nothing lasts forever.
  16. Well, THAT was easy! Why didn’t we do that before?
  17. His particular flashbacks might lead to darkness, so maybe that was it?
  18. Seriously, if this isn’t enough fun to think this season isn’t a blast, I don’t know what to tell you! 😂
  19. Glad they gave it to Cook. I don’t care about regular season MVP, and Josh is less replaceable.
  20. That’s what you hope for. Make them earn every inch and pray to force a mistake.
  21. Ankles are funny. You can think you broke it but it’s fine, or it can seem like no big deal and linger for weeks.
  22. “You know what you don’t give up on 3rd and 2? A 3 yard pass.” Apparently we are not alone.
  23. Who do you think is a better HC, Rex Ryan or McD? A simple question calls for a simple answer. Somehow this has gotten personal with how a lot of people feel about McD. I don’t understand that. He’s certainly not perfect (who is?), but he gets zero credit for what he’s accomplished with some people. They often seem angry with him. It’s not ALL Josh. Replacing McD would be a serious gamble and I don’t see it as worth the risk. That’s just my opinion, but I think most of the rational world agrees with me. How long would he be unemployed? Only as long as it took him to weigh the options and pick the best situation because he’d be a top candidate for any opening. Have a nice game day.
  24. Sure, let’s praise Rex Ryan. I’ve seen that mess, and it tells me all I need to know. Do you think Rex Ryan is a better coach than McD because he made the AFCCG? Please answer me that.
  25. That team would have won with Dungy. They won despite Gruden, not because of him (and the Raiders were complete idiots for not changing anything prior to playing their former coach). You are more likely to get Rex Ryan type results imo, which is to say very disappointing. We can do MUCH WORSE than McD, but everybody thinks replacing him will be a piece of cake. You want to waste some of Josh’s prime? Get a new coach and new schemes, then go looking for players who are suited for those schemes, then cross your fingers and hold your breath hoping the next guy works out better than what we already have in the first few years. .
