  1. Total speculation but id bet it was unconsciously laying around in back of his mind. Then he got injured again, body not responding like it used to. New playbook and surroundings, no chemistry built from TC. He's a pretty introspective guy. I could see all those changes bringing him to the realization he was done shortly after getting here. We've heard that kind of inner monologue expressed from a bunch of retired players talking about what the end looked like. I think he was a professional and handled it well, its just father time comes for us all
  2. Id much rather try to play ahead. Our defense is bad bad, but we do have solid pass rush this year, and making a team more 1 dimensional early makes that job easier. we set the tone.
  3. The alter boy thing has always been a tired concept here... especially once we built a culture that should be able to support it. with that said Pickens is too f'n stupid to help. Hes one of the dumbest, most childish, immature dbags ive ever seen speak in a lockerroom. I dont care about off the field BS (barring S.A.) AT ALL. DWI's. Baby Mama's. Loud mouths. Overly firey. 110mph in a 55. Occasional drug charge. If theyre talented, produce and good teammates i want them on the team. Pickens, AB, those dude are children, they bring idiocy directly into lockerroom. I want no part of that. Hes incapable of a discussion with. Things like wanting the ball when a team is losing --- thats not a lockerroom issue to me. IDK if you saw those interviews in the lockerroom last year where he refused to speak. Hes not 'too competitive', hes NOT competitive. Wild bug up his arse, and hes shutting down, stop running routes, refuse to block at all. Absolutely 0 part of that. He's a net negative, or on the verge of being one at all times and over nothing
  4. Was floating around last year around this time, after he got his DWI. It never came out from a Schefter, but 100% believe it. That team needs a lot in a brutal division. They paid JJ at the top of the market (as they shouldv'e). I believe it was even rumored maybe theyd try to trade him (JJ) at his top value and save the $$. I dont think there was real legs to that one, but Im sure they fielded calls looking for a Kings ransom. Thats a ton of $$ at one position, which is fine, but doing Due Diligence too. Weve seen Higgins+Chase money on the Bengals. Different situations I know, but theyd also be dumb to turn down a major deal. They are probably looking for a QB still. Cant pay 2 guys top $$ without knowing who QB is. I think he can 100% be pried away from them. The cost is going to hurt, but thats a premium position to fill. It should hurt.
  5. Better than getting fired! Better than getting laughed at after ANOTHER 2nd Rd Exit Better than the narrative of "this guy thought Keon was a #1" following you around during interviews with new teams
  6. They cant afford to pay him and JJ, was already rumored last year. See Cinci w/ Higgins and Chase this year. Also, he seems to have pissed off the staff. ight be a blessing in disguise. Force their damn hand
  7. If were spending that, we can get much better prospects without glaring flaws than Olave. 1st and 3rd probably gets you Addison, with 2 FULL years signed left, his hit for this year would be a hair under $2M. DJ Moore is 1st & 3rd territory as well, unsure of the contract though. The "Coleman and a 5th" guys are delusional.... but I think he has some value. Coleman + 2nd and 3rd / Coleman + 1st + 5th , type deal also gets it done, and keeps a GM from getting killed by the media/fans. Im fully expecting a big WR, id be shocked if we dont
  8. If we get a sure fire dude I dont care. How much money have we wasted chasing half measures. We pick late too. Drafting one is expensive, and nobody wants to move down that far.... and thats based on potential. Stop being cheap, go pay the going rate for a true #1, and then guess what.... you can be done with it. The opportunity loss cost has been high enough, with no end in sight. You get what you pay for
  9. How would we know? BC Brady inherited an over the top checked out, mental midget version of Diggs? Then inherited a trash WR core otherwise? Brady has pissed me off plenty, but we need a WR this year and following years anyways, lets at least see what Brady can do with a #1, not a cast of #3's. If he cant make it work, than our new OC(staff?) will have a WR. I'm going all in for Jordan Addison, he'd have 2 years after this. Call them up and ask them what they want, name your price. We saw what an old, half retired Cooper did for us just with his reputation/presence. Lets get a young stud in here that wants to win and wants to show he's a #1. Give Josh some help. The only way were winning anything is on Josh's talent.... so wasting resources on the defense is not viable, and has shown its not. Help the guy who can make it happen. Hell, go win a SB and then see what type of HC you can hire. You think nobody would be lining up for that job?!?
  10. Addison makes a helluva lot more sense for all involved, is younger, easily fit under the cap, and not on a team thinking about repeating. I think its so doable. Beane mind as well make a splash play, what's he going to save picks for someone else? Were one receiver and McD taking over play calling away from still being a SB threat (despite coaching, not anything theyre doing).
  11. Whats your move Kirby? I know game just ended. Im not willing to throw away a Josh Allen season. I want McD gone immediately, but cant justify it with two young coordinators. I highly suspect Babich lost game call duties at half time. I think im: -Firing Babich in AM -McD can call rest of year -Go get the best WR you can -Kick the tires on a 2nd RB upgrade or rental (lowest priority by far, but exploring) -Telling Brady to pull out all the stops. Unlearn the word complimentary. The goal is 40/game. Get ahead, turn these offenses into 1-D units, let these pass rushers get after it full time
  12. Has this ever happened? Seems unlikely. Having two young Coordinators makes it harder. Im not thrilled with the options but if im given the driver seat: Fire Babich, McD can finish season out calling plays on defense... add him to the trash heap Black Monday
  13. This is the most well reasoned take, IIIIFFFF im guaranteed that McD is gone without a SB win. If theres a chance that we let McD snakes his way into keeping his job, then just get him off the staff
  14. Im calling it right now. McD "took over" play calling at half time. Babich gets fired tmrw. Honestly Babich is a problem, but this all comes back to HC. His scheme. His unpreparedness. His staff in that, hes been allowed to keep this long of a leash. Tackling. Entire secondary cant cover. No in game nor game by game adjustments.
  15. Who else you gunna have finish out the season. Obviously I meant interim. We probably have one chance the rest of Josh career to get this hire right. Nobody is entrusting that to Joe Brady without a SB appearance after he gets moved up. Hell, even then im not handing him the job. As of right now im probably turning over most of my searches from NCAA pool. Go big or go home. No retread and NO defense first HC. Give me continuity on offense as priority. I dont care if we win 49 - 21, this is unacceptable, and i hope we dont lose track of that feeling
  16. Ive defended it enough. I am 100% fine with promoting Joe Brady, and giving Beane the rest of the season to see how teams responds. The injuries absolutely brutal, but I don't care. What does McD bring to this team? 35yard chunk yard plays continually.
  17. Since hes slacking and everything, any chance hed want an easy job like DC lol what if NFL teams refuse to hire him because hes only got a few years overall left... then again Pete Carroll got hired
  18. I think it buys him time to get to end of season. If i were them, theres not much he could do to save the job. Get the kid a real coach. Plus they need to ditch Schoen.... why let a dead man walking help do all your offseason coaching, only to get fired by week 4 next year? They havent seen enough??!?
  19. Thats one way to make up for putting Vrabel in our division!
  20. 'Jaqen H'ghar'. I was expecting to find the face of someone looking like a 5star prospect in the secondary out of Miami-Dade county.... not the face of a man at the Ren-Faire not allowed near schools
  21. I saw he was questionable with neck, ribs and something else... shoulder? Im more irritated about that than I even am about Poyer. I believe I saw Settle was leading league in pressures, or something similar
  22. The idea that our offense is going to play like it is right now, and magically still score against the Spags/Fangios of the league in the playoffs feels so flawed to me. Im a Beane enjoyer, I think his drafts have been very good.... that half measures to address WR position since 2020 (jon brown/ cole, diggs) has been frustrating all along. Ive never waivered on Beane, but am ready for a change from McD. Those things feel in conflict, hard to picture Beane being able to stay if Coach got fired, so ive been hesitant. If we cant atleast make the SB, Im wanting us to make a change... would prefer Beane stay, but if theyre a package deal, then ill take my chances with a new HC and GM. I hope they both recognize it too. Are they going to be glad they saved draft picks for the new GM if they lose their job? I dont trust the defense to get it done. I think we're 2-3 first downs away from icing the Chiefs in our last 2 elimination games. Asking the offense to grab a few extra first down to ice the game feels a helluva lot more obtainable than asking the defense to get 2 more stops.
  23. I know youre more plugged in than 99% here. Any idea if the bolded is widely thought around NFL FO's as of late? Obv entire offices arent going to be aligned on everything, but any sense if this logic is picking up steam? From the outside it appears that way. Certainly not expecting an NHL type deadline, but hoping it keeps trending upwards this year. Seems like weve seen a decent amount of moves this early into season already
  24. Cooper was likely already deciding retirement was near. Add an injury and feeling his body no longer cooperate likely cemented it. It was a calculated risk that didnt work out, im ok with it. My preference this year is young and established stud. My exception is for a late round trade for D-Hop as a hes plug n play, hungry, and wants a ring. But hes down the list for me. Just no half measures. I dont care if we have to overpay relative to market. Were a fairly polished team and a stud WR is worth more to us than most other teams. Im fine paying the premium. Josh's career wont last forever. KC & Balt arent serious, and our AFC competition right now is *checks notes* Indianapolis lol Also the Eagles are far from the team they were last year. They could heat up, but that defense isnt returning to last years form. SB has never been so attainable IMO
  25. It shouldnt lol id say thanks for the lucky guess, and get the kid a real coach
