Hey, it'll feel that much cooler if it works out. People kinda forget, myself included..... after 2 full seasons, this was still the narrative around Josh in a loose'ish way. "Man this kids cool and likeable, it'd be awesome if 'that' kinda guy became THE HIM we need" Season 3 kicked in--- by week 3, we knew we had a superstar. Dude kept his head down, stayed humble, worked on his craft How freaking sweet was the fruit of that labor! I do think this offseason is going to be Keon's biggest reflection on how he will turn out. It really would not shock me if he's completely dedicated to prove the doubters wrong. I think he has that 'IT' inside him. No wife, no kids, eat and sleep playing ball. Dude sees and hears all the doubt. Hopefully Josh is in his ear, telling him what he went through. I know he has a goofy attitude, but I think he really cares about proving people wrong. Thats at least half the puzzle.... I'll be honest, Gabe Davis had 'IT' too. Just didn't work out for whatever reason. Hopefully Keon does, he could be a unique weapon

Kinda makes sense in Beanes FA approach, Hoecht's suspension was priced in to the contract already. Might've felt the suspension put him into a price range we couldn't have afforded without the suspension. Flawed argument though. Without Josh where are we picking in the draft each year? 14ish is a lot easier to nail draft than 29-30th. Obviously nobody is trading Josh to move up 10-20 slots in a draft class, but it's not an apples to apples comparison like you're suggesting.

Obviously don't overdraft non premium positions, but we need to be all in on a TRUE BPA. there's not a position other than qb (and maybe tackle but only in first round) that's off limits if im Beane. We need bonafide difference makers, and we need to get set ourselves up to get cheaper down the road.

This was draft day (with hindsight). WTF happened in the war room to warrant that kind of miscommunication?! Was McD in the bathroom? Did we have a trade down put together, and last minute somebody backed out? Did an assistant manger or another staffer have a MAJOR drop of the ball that lead to this? I actually feel bad for Elam for us wasting 4 years. Maybe he just sucks, but seemed to have the right attitude. Puzzling every which way, maybe we'll hear in a book in 20years. Im a Beane maximalist, but this and AJE puzzle me. Bringing in a guy with a skillset (or frame with AJE), and the plan is to tear him down completely and ask him to do something completely different. Major gripe of mine. The way people hate hearing about ST's around here is how I hate the "versatile" label we're obsessed with. "A jack of all trades, is a master of none". Give me a guy who specializes at one thing, especially at the NFL level. Torrence comes to mind. Knee jerk reaction is YES! to Dane.... however, makes me nervous we'd settle back into passive zone again. Was hoping with that Secondary Coach from the Pats being added, it was part of a major philosophy change. You know how we enjoy seeing him on there because hes candid and refreshing? Seems like a cool hang? Players and other agents see the same thing, and makes him look great to do business with. Its basically an unpaid advertisement.... not some self-validation attention seeking. You dont get to be a GM by not being on top of your work. Dude made sure he addressed anything needing addressing before a 15-30 minute appearance. Any FA/player agent hes working with was aware ahead of time he had a quick meeting..... somebody else was delegated to handle non-urgent matters for 15minutes. Rest assured if something unforeseen pops up in, again during a 15-30 minute window, his phone is on his desk, his assistant is standing there to give him the Bat Signal, should something arise. Same energy as "Dude did X-Player go to an MLB game during his bye week?!?! Shouldn't he be out catching and throwing balls" CHHHHHHHIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. This is a part of the job and directly work related
