I cant agree with the premise of this qualifying as a top defense. If you had a 'top defense' and the defense was the cause of your playoff exit (not the offense), then you never had a top defense. Amplify this across multiple years - the defense being responsible for basically 80-100% of your exit's... then you have an even better sample size. 'It could be worse' is not the same as having a top defense.

It doesnt take anywhere near as drastic of an example for this to be true, but yes you are 100% correct. Give this years team an high-end #2 (Waddle, Tee, Ladd, Zay Flowers, Addison, Devonta Smith) and even mediocre - above average OC (2021 Daboll comes to mind as a good example), and we are by far the run away odds favorite to win it all this year. I fully understand chances are we'll never have an elite #1 here with Josh ever again...... the ask is reasonable to be able to add a similar type of player)

So yes, I would like a coach that can be a talent multiplier. Swap out Reid for McDermott the past 9 years (8?), and the outcomes would stay the same, just mirrored. Buff wins multiple rings, rarely gets stopped, but SB appearance is the new floor. KC fans hate us with a burning passion, as KC just cannot get over the hump that is the Buffalo Bills. None. Man yall have short memories lol we beat a pretty bad team. We looked decent, but Im not falling for it. Remember how we looked vs KC (who isnt their normal selves, but probably isnt as bad as they look right now either) ? Remember how they looked immediately after? I do NOT expect a similar looking flop this week, as that last set up.... but theyve shown me who they are repeatedly this year. I'm not going to ignore it. Im actually proud at the defense who appears to be trending back upwards... but Im not buying in on them until I've seen it consistently. The offense? Still pretty wretched, for their standards. Anybody thinking we can win with last week's offense another 9x's in a row is delusional. They've showed us 12x's what their passing game is this season. We will continue to be an above average run team, with ZERO ability to move the ball with our WR's. Way to incomplete of a team to compete... i still believe the best thing that could happen for us is missing the playoffs. At minimum we need a serious talent infusion..... but at minimum, limping into playoffs does not bode well for us making a Coaching and GM change... nor does it convince me they'll do anything drastic to try and get Super Bowl contender type coordinators in house... INSANE TBH

Each with the ability to steal working ideas from the last teams effort? All while we have no ability to execute 50% of the playbook? With an OC that has no ability or history of adding to the playbook? Their ceiling is 2nd rd exit. Floor is as bad as ones imagination.

There's some of that, which is good. There's a larger serving of "have to play this way". One dimensional is never good. We literally dont have the ability to throw to outside WRs. Thats never good. Its better to have something that can work in a game, or a script... trying to win 4 games with one tool in the bag and no others, is not ideal... also astronomical odds of being able to do it 4xs in the playoffs lol It is what it is. We dont have the personnel to fix it. We have no way of getting it either. Even a 70/30 split like this would be awesome. We dont have that.

The girl was hammered, the towel has no special meaning to her, she repeatedly shook it directly in someone's face all game, intentionally, ignoring requests to stop. Someone "snapped" took it away. The girl is grifting and we'll see a gofundme or only fans drop on the heels of Public attention within few days. ***I dunno. My point is more BS can happen either way. There are certainly valid posters in here to be asking this question. Personally this year was my tipping point. Josh almost 30. Need to get the right guys in and have time to implement their plans while Josh s window is firmly open. Im scared: waiting 2 years to change, and then year 2 of new staff when things would be most likely to start really cooking... youre running out of room for error. It'd be ideal to be able to stay put, but im not willing to continue experiment Personally. Id be pretty dammed excited to stay the course IFFFF we added 2 bonafide already-established coordinators too. Unfortunately i view that as being less likely to happen than I do, ripping it down to the studs, starting it over and getting it right. At least in terms of likeliness to happen. Were yet to see McD pick 1 top coordinator, hitting 2 sounds brutally unlikely. Yet my most preferred if possible

I agree and have come around completely to it this year. We all know it won't happen though. If were hell bent on not changing, WTF is stopping us from going out and hiring the best G-D OC & DC possible. Stop being cheap. We can pay backups a few million... but shelling out a few mill a year for top coordinators seems like an incredibly cost efficient, highly predictable output chances.

Nowwwww if you wanted to make an argument on age + inflating contract numbers, maybe coupled with a bonafide tackle prospect dropping to us, where we shouldn't have been able to get him. Hes a beast 100%. But im taking Gibbs every time straight up. Realistically though theyre neck and neck. Enough so that I wouldn't trade one for the other straight up... the upside is limited and the potential downside just based on system fit, way outweigh that upside.
