Jets just traded with Colts for #3 pick in first round

And if the Bills wanted a guy and the Giants decide they don't want to move? Then it is about the Jets being smart and the Bills being on the outside looking in......yet again. -
Jets just traded with Colts for #3 pick in first round
sven233 replied to Hurricane's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ok...... Been thinking about this situation all day and it is pretty much a disaster for us in every conceivable way. From the moment they passed on Watson and Mahomes in the draft last year, this season was about 1 thing.....getting a franchise QB. Today made that a lot more difficult. I hope we can get to 2, but that may be impossible at this point. The only silver lining to the Jets trading up today that I could come up with is if it has been the Bills plan all along to trade up for Josh Allen. If the Bills had wanted to do that, and this move from the Jets stopped that from happening, then thank you Jets. The only thing that makes me sicker than watching the Jets do what we should have already done is watching the Bills trade a ton of assets away only to draft Josh Allen. Otherwise, this is nothing but terrible for us in every way. If we come out of this draft, with all of this ammunition and still no top franchise QB prospect, then it is a complete failure. It's been about finding a QB for a year now (actually years now....). Get it done. Whatever it takes for Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield. -
If Beane does all of this trading away players, trading away picks, doing everything to get to the top the of draft....... and then drafts Josh Allen..... Holy smokes. I think a lot of the good will and credibility Beane has been building with the fan base would go up in a puff of smoke. Look, Allen may be good someday. Who knows. But I think there is a lot bigger of a chance that he never pans out. There are so many better options at QB in the draft than Allen. I don't want Allen anywhere near this team. Like I sad....he could be good. Heck....he could be great someday. But I rather some other team take that risk. He is not the kind of guy you give up top players and a ton of draft picks for. Whatever it takes for Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield.

Bills Have a Standing Offer for LB Preston Brown
sven233 replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thank you. I read all these comments here about what he should be paid or whatever completely disregarding what I said..... I said that I would pay him no more than $4mil. Maybe I would have gone to $4.5-$5 on a short term deal if necessary, but that is pretty pricey for a player like Brown. I didn't say he wouldn't get more than that. I just said I didn't think he was worth paying because he never makes game changing plays. He is a good player, but easily replaceable. The guys making $7mil+ should be impact players......not just a guy..... Anyway, I appreciate you actually understanding what I was saying in terms of me placing that value on him and not saying that is what I thought he was going to be paid. I appreciate people that know how to read. I look forward to seeing what he did get from the Bengals, though. My guess is probably around $5.5-$6.5 on a 1 year deal. -
Bills Have a Standing Offer for LB Preston Brown

Ryan TalbotVerified account @RyanTalbotBills 44m44 minutes ago Sources: #Bills have standing offer for LB Preston Brown http://bit.ly/2tRtJn5 #BillsMafia http://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2018/03/sources_buffalo_bills_have_standing_offer_for_linebacker_preston_brown.html My take: I think Preston Brown is a decent football player. He has a lot of limitations, especially in the pass game, but the guy is durable and a pretty smart football player. I've been of the opinion we need an upgrade in the middle of our defense for a while now. While Brown does some nice things, he rarely makes the big impact plays that change games. Before making a judgement as to whether I want him back or not, I'd love to know the details of the offer that is on the table. With the way LBs have been demanding huge contracts early in free agency here, I am in no hurry to sign him back. I don't want to pay the guy any more than $4 mil/per. My guess is that the Bills don't either and that they have set a price, and it's take it or leave it. Hopefully their price isn't too high, though. Still think we could get better there. We actually need a couple of linebackers though, so it will be interesting to see how this situation is handled come the draft. -
Sounds about right..... It also sounds just like what everyone was saying about Paxton Lynch when he came out. I want this guy nowhere near the Buffalo Bills. Whatever it takes for Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield.
-
Yup.....and nowhere to watch it live right now.
-
NFL Network just said they are going to show him throwing live as soon as he gets going. Sounds like there are over 100 scouts, GMs, and league officials there. All 32 teams represented. I'd like to know who is there from Buffalo.
-
Hope so.....
-
I have NFL Network on but they are airing the Cousins' presser. Is there a live stream of the UCLA pro day out there anywhere?
-
I want Josh Allen nowhere near the Buffalo Bills. Look, he may turn out to be good someday, but it is much more likely that he won't. He and Rudolph should be off the Bills board until after the 3rd round. Do whatever it takes to land Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield. I am not sure which of them will end up being the best, but I want the Bills to pick the one out of those 3 they like the most and do whatever it takes to get him.

Tyrod named starting QB of Browns
sven233 replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With them naming Taylor the starting QB next season, Josh Allen is the perfect QB for them to draft...... Please Cleveland, I beg of you......please draft Josh Allen. Look, I will admit there is some chance he is good someday, but there is a bigger chance he isn't. Let him sit and learn and then, if he ever turns into anything of value, then play him. But, please, Cleveland.....draft Josh Allen. I want him nowhere near the Buffalo Bills. -
That's contract is back up money....... and a beautiful deal at that..... Great job!

Mike RodakVerified account @mikerodak The Bills released Anquan Boldin from the reserve/retired list Wednesday. He’s free to sign somewhere if he chooses to play again My Analysis: The Bills made an unexpected transaction Wednesday. In a surprise move that fans everywhere have been anticipating and pounding their F5 keys on their keyboards since late Tuesday night when rumors started flying, the Buffalo Bills have shaken up the NFL landscape entirely announcing that they have officially released potential future all of Famer, Anquan Boldin. During his one and only season with the Bills, we ended a 17 year Playoff drought. This is a devastating blow to our WR group and firmly puts the Bills back in the market for a WR. We will never forget the numerous contributions Boldin made to this team both on and off the field. Great player, humanitarian, and a huge loss to the organization.

Mason Rudolph...Big, accurate, mobile.strong
sven233 replied to Bustersit's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watched every game of his this season. Throws a nice deep ball and................... Well, that's pretty much it. He misses easy throws. Plays in a gimmick offense. Average arm at best. 2nd to 3rd round pick at the earliest. -
I actually think that we may already have the trade parameters in place for a move up into the top 5 already. The thing is, it can't be done at this point because one of the key pieces will be pick 12. While the trade of Glenn to get to 12 has been agreed upon, it can't become official until tomorrow. Therefore, we can't include a pick, even though everyone knows we have it, that we technically don't have yet. We can't technically make a trade with a pick that we don't have yet. So, with that in mind, it is my hope that we have had a plan in place with the Giants or Colts that will be announced tomorrow, or shortly thereafter, once we officially have the 12th pick to trade. Just a thought.

Rap Sheet: Bills pursuing Bradford for deal
sven233 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Before we get too far ahead of ourselves here, do you know where Rapoport said this? I took a quick look through his Twitter and saw nothing about this. Was it on TV or something? Just don't want everyone worrying/responding to something that was never said. -

One of the most naturally talented throwers of the football there is. Good arm and extremely accurate. That said, he has only shown his talent in a handful of games because he can't stay healthy. Just have to hope he can get us through enough games to get whoever our rookie is ready to go. I would anticipate him being a good character guy, though, and be willing to help out our QB of the future. Lots of positives about this, but the question is, how long can it possibly last....... -
After trading with the Giants the Bills take
sven233 replied to mead107's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anyone but Josh Allen, please..... Whatever it takes for Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield. If they do all this work, get into the top 3 and then take Josh Allen, all the goodwill they would have built up would be gone in an instant. -
He has given up a below average QB and an oft-injured LT while adding the first pick of the 3rd round and moved up to #12 in the draft. We have basically given away scraps for really great assets. Talk to me when we actually give up something of value.

According to a Buffalo report....... or According to Buffalo Report? Either way.....do you have a link?

I'm loving all of these trades and I do believe on some level that we are not done climbing the board. The only way they could completely sour me on everything at this point is if they trade up again to a top pick, do all this work, and them draft Josh Allen. The air would completely come out of the balloon at that point. To me, ever since they made the trade down last year, this past season and this draft is about 1 thing......doing WHATEVER IT TAKES for Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield. We're halfway there now. Time for the Bills to finish the job and get one of those guys.
-
I know I am not the only one who has had this thought, but man, this move has me thinking that the Bills have talked to the Giants, Colts, and Browns and have found out how far they are willing to drop in a trade down. With what they learned, we got ourselves into that position and are firmly in the process of getting one of those top 3 picks.

Peter SchragerVerified account @PSchrags 27s27 seconds ago Compensation for Cordy Glenn trade: Bills and Bengals swap 1st Round picks. Bills go to 12. Bengals go to 21. Teams also swap 5th and 6th round picks.

Now this is a connection that makes sense. Should be cheap and already has familiarity with the offense. If he signs, he won't prevent us in any way from trading up for a guy. He is pretty much the perfect bridge guy whether it is for a half a season or a season. Or, a solid backup to a rookie if the rookie beats him out.
