  1. As much as this will drive me insane, I think it's time to go watch some Allen highlights. I think he's going to be a Bill tonight and it is frustrating to no end. I watched all but 1 of his games live this season and I just want no part of him. But if the Browns do take Mayfield at 1, there is a very high chance the only guy we have a shot at is Allen. If that's the case, I'd rather the Bills just take Jackson. Allen is my 5th QB and is not even worth the 12th pick, let alone a guy you trade up for. At least watching Allen's highlights will make him look like Marino. Unfortunately, the plays they don't show in those highlights make him look like Manuel, Boller, Russell, etc. Uggggh.... After all this, to get stuck with Allen..... What a disaster.
  2. If this is true, there is no doubt in my mind that the Bills will do everything they can to get to 2. The Giants may very well take Darnold, but I'm not sure they want a QB. The thing is the Bills will have to get to 4-5 first to convince the Giants to trade.
  3. Nothing..... They can't sell it. The clock starts ticking on their employment status. If Allen turns out to be good, that's great. If he turns out like most of us think he will........ TICK TOCK.....TICK TOCK.
  4. Look..... I personally love Mayfield. I would give up a ton to have him be a Bill tomorrow. That said, the Browns are not taking Mayfield first overall tomorrow. No way. I know it is being reported that it is between Allen and Mayfield, but I don't buy it one bit. I have believed, and will continue to believe, it's Darnold until they pick someone else.
  5. Sounds like Allen or Rosen. Darnold and Mayfiled will be off the board by 4, and they wouldn't have to move up for Jackson or Rudolph, so that leaves Allen and Rosen as their guy. If it is between those 2, it had better be Rosen.
  6. Everyone knows how I feel about Allen on this board. I want no part of him.....especially if it requires a trade up. There are 4 other guys in this draft I want more and I think it would be a failure to come out of this draft with Allen. However, I will say this about Allen and defend him a bit. I watched all but 1 of his games this year. We all know he has the physical tools you dream about a QB having. But one of the reasons a lot of us a terrified of taking him is his accuracy and completion percentage. What Palmer, Mayock, etc. are saying is indeed true. The offense he played in was a vertical offense that very rarely incorporated routes at less than 10 yards. Yes, he did miss easy throws, but if you watch the games, you realize a lot of their offense was pushing the ball down the field in chunks. You didn't see a ton of swing passes, screens, slants, etc. Most everything was designed to push the ball down the field in chunks. So yes.....with an offensive scheme designed to do this, it is only natural for the completion percentage to be down a bit. Coupled with a complete lack of receiving talent, Allen was not put in the best position to succeed. That said, there is no way his completion percentage should be THAT low playing in that conference. To me, the reason I don't want him is more about other things. I think he is slow to read the field at times, he very rarely anticipates throws and waits to see guys coming open to throw the ball winch cause him to be late on throws, and he bails out of the pocket way too early far too often. Add that to the accuracy issues and you have a project QB that I want no part of. There is such a disparity between how good and bad that Allen could end up being. If he reaches his MAX potential, he could be Marino. However, if he doesn't, there is a chance he could be out of the league or relegated to backup status before he ever sees the field. Look, Josh Allen could very well end up being the best QB in the class when it is said and done. He has the best physical tools in the draft. But this is about achieving that potential and I firmly believe Darnold, Rosen, and Mayfield all have a better chance to succeed. I could also make the case that Jackson is a guy I would rather take than Allen. I don't want to draft Allen. I have been pushing all along to do whatever it takes for Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield. WHATEVER IT TAKES. Let some other team take the chance on Allen. But as a guy that has watched a ton of Allen, not just the highlights, and just not looking at stats, I wanted to defend him a bit because he deserves a little better than what he has been getting. That said - DARNOLD, ROSEN, OR MAYFIELD. FINISH THE JOB.
  7. Because I have eyes...... Look, I have said all along Josh Allen may end up being the best QB in the class. He has tools that nobody else has. However, it's about reaching the potential you have and I don't think the physical tools will make up for the deficiencies he has. He is slow to read the field, is constantly late on throws, misses throws that should be routine, bails out of the pocket too early, and doesn't throw with anticipation on a regular basis. Can some of this be fixed? For sure..... But he has a ton of issues and for him to overcome all of them would be a huge ask. There are other QBs in the draft that all have faults, but the issues the other top guys have are fewer and thus may be easier to correct. Never once in his football career, from high school through college, has he even come close to having a 60% completion percentage. Not only has he struggled against good teams, but he has failed to dominate against lesser competition. I'm sorry, but if you are drafting a guy in the top 5 of the NFL draft, and he has NEVER dominated a season, or even a game, something is wrong. He has the natural God given physical talent that other QBs dream about having..... It's everything else that is the problem. He could work through all of these concerns, but I am ready to have some other team take that chance and find out whether he can or not. Josh Allen could be an all time great......but he has the biggest bust potential in the class in my eyes. Rosen, Darnold, or Mayfield are much better prospects. Josh Allen will take a year or 2, at least, before he is ready to see the field, if he ever gets there at all. If the Bills draft him, I will support him as a Bills fan as we all will, but from the moment he is drafted, the clock starts ticking on Beane every day Allen isn't the starting QB of the Bills.
  8. It would be an absolute disaster if we choose Allen over Rosen. Just brutal.....
  9. Thank God the draft is just a couple days away at this point. We have all analyzed this to death and this thread will be no different in that way. It's probably going to be a little bit lengthy as I want to summarize some thoughts and feelings that are out there, but I want to end this with a question that is THE question going into Thursday. What I am hoping to figure out, though, is who of the "Top 6" QBs we have been linked to the most, those that we really haven't been tied to as much, and what this all may mean. Looking back through all of the information we have been combing through over the last several months, I think there is 1 name that we have been tied to the most - Josh Allen. From the very beginning, it seems like media member after media member, analyst after analyst, have made it clear that they know for a fact that the Bills LOVE Josh Allen. He was the first name I heard the Bills tied to and he is still the overwhelming popular pick that is tied to the Bills today. What does this mean? Well.....they could all be right and the Bills really do love him. However, in the last 20 years or so, I have never seen a prospect that we have been tied to as much as Allen. So many people out there are virtually guaranteeing that he is our guy and I just can't believe that the Bills would be that transparent as to who they are targeting. On a side note, I can't believe after watching his tape and his career that they would be that much in love with him.....even if they did like him. I can't believe that this regime, who has seemed to have closed all of the leaks that were getting out over the past several years, has made it this obvious who they are targeting. Is it possible? I guess, but that would be a poor job by the front office if Allen has been their guy for months now and everyone has known it all along. Now, after Allen is where it gets a little more interesting. It seems like there have been several guys that have taken turns over the last several weeks as "the guy" the Bills really want. Rudolph had his turn early on in the process, although that has died down quite a bit. But, over the last few weeks, both Mayfield and Darnold have taken turns being the target of the Bills. They were not just the topic of conversation for a day or 2, but they have really, along with Allen, been the talk among many for the last 2-3 weeks or so. Do the Bills really like these guys or is it just a bunch of misinformation out there? If I had to guess, I would bet a lot on Darnold being QB1 on the Bills board. Even since last year, I honestly believe that if it were even a remote possibility, the Bills would try anything and everything to land Darnold. He is a "process" guy through and through and I guarantee the Bills love this guy. As for Mayfield, while I personally like him a lot and have him firmly in my top 3 guys, I am a little skeptical that the Bills like him as much as I do. So, this leaves 2 guys....... Jackson and Rosen. Now, to be honest, I don't remember Jackson's name being tied with the Bills hardly at all. There might have been a note here and there about it, but I think out of all the QBs, Jackson has been mentioned the least, by far. Now, this either means that the Bills don't have much, if any, interest at all in him. It's either that, or it's the quietest pursuit of a QB in history. So, last but not least, that brings me to Josh Rosen. Sure, he has been mocked to the Bills a few times, but has he really been tied to the Bills in an overwhelming way? There has been 1 guy, Optimum Scouting's Eric Galko, who has said from the beginning that he believes that Bills LOVE Rosen. He has been saying it since January/February and seems convinced the Bills want him. However, outside of Eric, I haven't really heard anyone coo berate that report. There are times people have mocked Rosen to the Bills, but it is usually because the other guys are gone, not because they really have any specific reason to tie Rosen to the Bills. Now, I like Rosen a lot. He is definitely in my top 3 and I can definitely see him becoming the best QB in this class. I love the way he throws the ball. I like the quick decisions he makes and how fast he reads the field. And, I love how aggressive he is throwing the ball into tight windows with accuracy all while pushing the ball down the field. Great vertical game. But, I do wonder if he is the Bills kind of "guy." We are all familiar with the knocks on him and the prevailing thought that he could slip down the board because of his attitude and proclivity to speak his mind when he wants to question something. Personally, I love this. I want my QB to want to know why a play is being run. I want my QB to want to understand why a play is designed a certain way. Because once you satisfy that and you have everyone understanding why you are doing something, it makes things that much easier to execute and I believe it leads to more success. Will he be a challenge at times, sure, but I don't see that is a bad thing. Will the Bills, though? All this said, I will end this long post with a question....... Based on the levels of who the Bills have been tied to, WHO DO YOU THINK THE BILLS WANT? I am not asking who you want.....we all have different opinions on that and we have been re-hashing that over and over again. So, I want to know if you think the Bills want a guy that they have been tied to all along, a guy that has been tied to them for a few weeks or so, or a guy that they really haven't been tied to at all. Again....who do the Bills want? Not what you want.
  10. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/04/23/report-bills-unlikely-to-trade-up-to-no-2/ http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000928086/article/draft-buzz-bills-unlikely-to-trade-for-giants-no-2-pick?campaign=tw-nf-sf187598182-sf187598182&sf187598182=1 "From what I understand, it's not going to be one of those things where they just sell out and (trade) all the way to No. 2 with the Giants," Rapoport said. "I would be at this moment surprised if that happens." I still think that if their #1 guy is there at 2 they do everything they can to get there. Hopefully there is a Plan B in place to get to 4-5 though if, for whatever reason, they can't get there.
  11. Could you imagine Rosen sliding out of the top 10 and the Pats* moving up to get him? I mean this could be an absolute disaster of a draft night...... Imagine the Bills packaging 3-4 picks together, moving up and drafting Josh Allen and then the Pats* ending up with Rosen for like half the picks when this is all said and done. What a nightmare scenario. The Pats* end up with perhaps the best QB in the draft for peanuts and the Bills packages a ton of assets for a guy that may not even see the field for 2 years.....if he ever does at all. Would make me absolutely sick seeing this play out.
  12. If it's Allen, he may not even be ready in 2 years........
  13. We should be so lucky as to have either one of them come Thursday.....
  14. IT'S RUSEV DAY!!!!!!!
  15. Inaccurate, slow to read the field and the defenses he is playing against, bails out of the pocket too early, poor decisions, and played poorly against bad defenses and even worse against good teams. Look.....I will be the first to admit that if he reached his full potential, he may be the best QB in the draft. HOWEVER, I think he is a development guy at best that shouldn't see the field for 2 years and, even after all that, probably has about an 80% chance to bust. The guy can sling it without a doubt...... But, right now anyway, he can't hit the broadside of a barn. Even if he could, he would probably be too late to see it and would be sacked. Unfortunately, his most impressive throws in college are on the run, and many of them he wouldn't be able to get away with in the NFL because they would be picked by better players. Let someone else take the chance on him. I want no part of him.
  16. This would be the perfect spot for us given the following actually happen: 1. The Browns or Jets take Allen - I want no part of this guy and I will be praying he is off the board by our pick 2. The Giants don't take a QB 3. None of the teams drafting in the top 4 spots trade their pick to anyone (unless it's us) If these things happen, and we can find our way to 5, it would be a dream scenario. Two of Darnold, Rosen, and Mayfield will be staring us right in the face and we will get one of the top 3 QBs in the draft at a fraction of the price. The problem is that I can't actually see the Browns picking Allen. I know there is a lot of smoke out there that he may be the first pick, but I really find that incredibly hard to believe. I just don't see how you can watch that guy's tape, look at his stats, and then come out of that thinking this guy is a top 10 pick in this draft. He is a project, at best, and will need at least 2 years to sit the bench and develop. And then, even after all that, I still think he has probably an 80% chance to bust. I would take him at 22, but there is no way I am trading up for that guy. I just have that uncomfortable feeling that Allen is going to be the guy who falls and the Bills will find a way to justify taking him. Really hope I'm wrong, though. From day 1, this draft has been about getting one of Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield......... It's time for Beane to finish the job.
  17. "So don't worry when I give up 5-6 picks in this draft and next year's draft to move up and get our franchise QB" - What Beane is Thinking While Saying this
  18. It's funny.....somewhere in all that he mentions that no way in a million years could he make something like that up. I actually thought about this exact scenario a month or so ago. It's not a theory you put out there too much because it is nuts and virtually has no chance of happening. But when I first thought about the idea a while ago, I could justify it being the right thing for all teams involved, but I think the logistics of putting something like this together are virtually impossible unless the Browns, Giants, and Bills all agree to share who they want with each other in the draft and I can guarantee that chance of that happening are very slim. However, if they did agree to this, this whole thing could come together and it really would benefit every team involved. Granted the compensation the guy in the tweet listed wouldn't be nearly enough, but I suppose something could come together where each team gets the guy they want and the Bills can make make it worth while for both teams if they were actually open to it. But that is where all of this ends...... The chances all 3 of these teams are this open and willing to share so much with each other is almost impossible to believe. Would it be a good idea for all teams involved to work together and make this happen? ABSOLUTELY!!! Especially if every team gets the player that they ultimately want. Chance of it actually happening.... less than 1% for sure. Also, where this guy's story lost me is saying that it was coming from Russ Brandon. Why would the president of the Bills and Sabres just tell some guy, friend or not, what they were going to do in the draft? I don't care if it's family.....you don't explain your draft strategy to ANYONE. That is why all of these theories out there are a bunch of garbage. Nobody is telling anyone factual at this point. The best we can do as fans is look at what the teams are doing and try to piece things together, kind of like what I did the other day in the Darnold visit thread. I have no actual knowledge of what is going on, but based on actions, I put together a plausible theory. That is all anyone, including the national guys, can do at this point. The people that know what is going on inside each organization aren't just going to tell someone outside the organization what is going on.
  19. Before getting into this, I am going to put a disclaimer out there that I am definitely taking the OP with a grain of salt, as it should be. However, if the original report was to have any merit at all, it does lead me into a theory. A lot of this makes sense if you think about it. Up until very recently, Darnold was thought to be the unanimous #1 overall selection. Then, all of a sudden in the last few days, the Bills decided to drop everything and fly out to CA to work out Darnold. On top of this, it was reported for the longest time that the Jets, at 3 no less, never had a plan to work out Darnold because they thought they would have no chance at him. All of a sudden, a report comes out that they have scheduled a workout with him as well. It is very possible that word has gotten out that, no matter who ultimately goes first, it won't be Darnold. Thus teams are scrambling to get workouts in with him. What I definitely find interesting is that the Bills will be one of those teams working him out. Two things jump out at me about this...... 1. The Bills are at 12..... Whether Darnold was going first or not, he's not making it to 12. So, why would the Bills suddenly pack up and travel across the country for 2-3 days (at probably their busiest time of year) to work out Darnold if they thought there was absolutely no chance of getting him? Some would say a smokescreen, but really.....in the situation the Bills are in, everyone knows the Bills want a QB and are wanting to trade up for one at this point. So, the Bills don't need a smokescreen to work out a QB since it is common knowledge they need one and want one desperately. A smokescreen, in the Bills case for a QB, would be fooling nobody. So, to me, this means 1 thing..... The Bills realistically believe they can get high enough to get Darnold if he is their guy because, even if he doesn't go 1, he isn't getting past 3. With that said, here is where I think it is time to take things a bit further 2. Why would Darnold agree to work out for the Bills if he and his agent didn't believe the Bills had a shot at drafting him? This is an angle I don't hear talked about nearly enough. Darnold and his management team may not know if he is getting drafted at 1, but they do know he will not make it out of the top 3 (most likely). So, why would Darnold and his management team work out for a team, like the Bills at 12, if they didn't believe that he could be selected by that team? In the past couple weeks, there have been multiple reports of players getting injured, some really hurt, just weeks before the draft in these pre-draft workouts. Why in the world would Darnold and his management team work out for a team outside the top 5, let alone the top 10, and risk injury, no matter how serious, so close to being a top pick in the draft? That wouldn't be smart or good business at all. All they would need to do is politely decline the workout not wanting to risk anything at this point. So, to me, this may be an indication that the Bills have convinced Darnold and his management that they may have a path into the top 3 and would highly consider drafting him. The Bills must have been convincing enough to Darnold and his management that they have that chance to draft him to get them agree to the workout. For me, it has been pretty simple all along throughout this draft process......WHATEVER IT TAKES FOR DARNOLD, ROSEN, OR MAYFIELD. Granted, it has mainly been about Rosen and Mayfield to this point because I have been figuring, like just about everyone else, that Darnold was going #1. However, if the information in this post is true and teams have gotten wind that the Browns are going in a different direction, it really would explain the Bills suddenly flying out to LA and the Jets all of a sudden adding Darnold to their workouts as well after stating they wouldn't be working him out at all. It has always been my feeling, that if there was any possible way to make it happen, the Bills would LOVE to draft Darnold. I can pretty much guarantee he is their QB1 on the board and would love to get him. The draft can't come soon enough......
  20. I listen on occasion because I can't get enough Bills talk, but this show should probably be called "The Company Line." So generic and their opinions very rarely are anything to talk about because they have to spin the company view and outlook. Can't really say anything controversial at all on that show.
  21. This whole situation is a bit off. Ever since he agreed to the pay cut and then, shortly thereafter, firing his agent, something just hasn't seemed right. This is just a theory, but is there any possible way that Richie, when agreeing to take the pay cut, thought he was simply restructuring his contract for this year and was thinking he was just helping the Bills with some cap issues this year, but still going to make the same money throughout the restructured contract (maybe an extra year). Was there some sort of miscommunication between him and his management about this whole thing and that is why he is pissed at the contract, and thus firing his agent? I know it seems absurd that this could even be a possibility that he couldn't understand his own contract, but why would he be happy to stay with a pay cut and then fire his agent and then complain about the contract. Very strange.
  22. Look, while it may be possible that the Pats* trade up, I really doubt it. They LOVE trading down and I actually expect them to do that a couple times. I wouldn't be shocked to see them trade down from 23 and pick up a 2nd or something next year. Who knows, they may scam someone out of picks this year and next year for that pick for all we know. That said, by trading down and getting more picks, it makes it more likely they WILL take a QB either late in the 1st, or in the 2nd with the picks they get for trading down. The Pats* always seem to find a way to accumulate a ton of draft picks by trading down.....a practice I fully support and would love the Bills to do just about every chance they get, except for this year when they need to trade up for the QB.
  23. The fans may riot if come draft day the Jets and Pats have done what they needed to do to get to the top of the draft for their QBs of the future and the Bills sit on their hands. I can't imagine what will happen around here if the Pats*, after killing us for 17 years with one QB, find a way to get ahead of us in this draft, where we were loaded with picks, and pick a QB ahead of us. What a nightmare.
  24. No.....no they don't. At least they better not. Josh Allen is not the type of player you trade multiple good players and multiple first and 2nd round picks to acquire. They do that, and he flops like most think he will, we'll be looking for a new coach and front office sooner than we want to be. There is no way this front office gives up virtually everything they have to take a chance on Allen.
  25. Huh? Second favorite team? You mean another sport, right? When you bleed Bills red, white, and blue, there is no such thing as a second favorite NFL football team.... So, I'll say the Buffalo Sabres.
