I take it you have never owned a business or at least not a legitimate one. The dude cashed in his 401K trying to save his business. Most successful entrepreneurs I know (and I know a ****-ton of them) would have risked almost anything to make their business succeed. That is why so many business people go broke and bankrupt. Your business is as close to your as your spouse or your children. I don't fault him one bit for that move. You won't admit it, but if you knew what it was truly like to be in his shoes, there is a really good chance you would have made that very same financial mistake.

Lets get serious DENVER vs BUFFALO

Dude...it's just bad timing on your part to make your post and also the way you did it claiming that Denver is going to blow out the Bills (whether true or not). You probably don't belong to many forums and contribute to them often. And that is fine. If you did, then you would already know that you have to have thick skin to post on public forums like this especially if you are going to post anything negative at all. I think your post is legitimate in your mind, but to fans who are trying to hang onto this season, it feels like you are a troll just trying to pick an argument. That is why everyone is crapping on you. -

A Very Sad Story About Darryl Talley
PolishDave replied to norton20's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know your heart is in the right place, but I don't think that just giving him money to pay his bills is the right way to go about this. He will surely feel worse about himself when his fans try to hand him charity. Notice how his fellow players would offer to pay for something on his behalf instead of just handing him money? That is because he would probably refuse a handout and it would make his condition even worse than it already is. What he needs is to regain his self-esteem and to address the onset of those physical ailments that are starting to surface as a result of his profession. (obviously just my opinion) If I was a local Buffalo businessman who was trying to grow a retail business, I would look to partner with him somehow. Pay him to be a spokesperson for my company. Give him a taste of the equity in the company or work out some form of profit sharing. -

Beating Denver is about disrupting Peyton Manning's passing attack. It will be a real test for Mr. Schwartz. Based on how he did against Brady and Rivers, my guess is that he will fall short of the challenge. But, I am hopeful. I am sure we will discuss this plenty in about 5 days. -
Week 13 predictions: Browns at Bills
PolishDave replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills pretty much picked up those blitzes though, didn't they? I don't recall him being under that quick pressure that the blitz is designed to produce. I know he got hit and knocked down a couple times, but didn't he still have time to throw even when blitzed? -

I don't have faith in Kyle Orton when he is being pressured. And that is the one thing that scares me in this game. I am afraid that pressuring him will lead to turnovers in favor of the Browns. I'm hoping the Bills run plenty of draw plays out of shotgun. -

Week 13 predictions: Browns at Bills

I believe Mike Pettine is going to bring heat on Orton early and often. And he will get plenty of sacks. Orton will need to practice good ball handling to avoid fumbling. Bills will need to be able to run the ball this week in order to win. If the Bills can't run well this week, they will lose. One of our backs is going to break off a big run this week. We will get a nice punt return at some point during this game to lots of punts by both teams and at least one turnover by each team. Bills win 20-19 -
I wanted the Bills to draft him out of college until I saw him get hurt in his last bowl game I think it was. I thought it was a wimpy injury which then made me think maybe he wasn't big enough or tough enough to be a starting NFL quarterback. The dude can play football though.

If you get a dome you can also say goodbye to C130 Gunship or other flyby's after the national anthem. You can say goodbye to the skydivers also and probably the eagle that flies in carrying an American flag. Those things probably aren't that big of a deal to some guys, but they mean a lot to some of us.

Ferguson to Butler.....touchdown!

Personally I would rather have Colt McCoy than RGIII. I would take RGII as a backup QB only.

I thought the new rules made your team more dependent on good QB play?

Not saying the NFL "massages" games but...

Hughes went offsides once on 3rd down which gave the Jets a first down and extended a drive. One of the gunners went out of bounds on that long punt return the Jets had where Manny Lawson caught the guy from behind. It was a 5 yard penalty added to the end of the run. That is all I can remember at the moment. I thought Woods got away with a little offensive Pass Interference on the one handed catch play. Looked like he pushed off with his left hand. And I thought that one time the Bills tackled a Jet guy out of bounds kind of late that could have been called. Both cases could have gone either way though. Obviously I'm glad they weren't called. -
You better hope Kiko never visits Utah John......or else, well, you know........Kiko!

Has anyone talked about the blown coverage play?
PolishDave replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It looked to me like Gilmore thought he had safety help covering over the top. I'm not really sure whether Gilmore was supposed to stick with Decker the whole time or if the safety was supposed to be deep there or what was supposed to happen. Would be nice to hear from the coaches on that play. -

That is downright comical... What a douche... -
Would have been funnier if those dudes would have done some cartwheels....lol I was glad they kept the cameras rolling. People on TV rarely get to see those things that we get to see at the game firsthand. (Mario 94 or is that Larry Dean 54?) looked like he was maybe thinking about bull rushing that second guy.

frustrating usage of sammy watkins
PolishDave replied to TallskiWallski83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no doubt that on some of those plays after the first quarter or so, Orton probably didn't even look to Sammy. Put yourself in Orton's shoes for a moment. Earlier in the game he threw a few passes to Sammy into coverage and those passes went incomplete. He threw a few passes to Robert Woods into single coverage and moved the chains. Throwing into heavy coverage trying to get the ball to Sammy isn't working. Throwing into lighter coverage with Woods is working because Woods is catching everything you throw at him. Why in hell wouldn't you keep targeting Woods? You would be stupid not to. Orton did what a smart veteran quarterback would do. He found something that was working and he kept doing it because the defense showed they couldn't beat it. People are making way too much out of this "not throwing enough to Sammy" idea. What Orton did in this game is exactly what he should have done and I commend him for it fully. -

Balls that hit you in the hands are "by definition" catchable. And if a receiver is supposed to be a "great" receiver, then he should be able to catch a ball that he gets two hands on. I don't expect him to catch every single one. But I do expect my number one guy to catch 9 out of 10 he gets 2 hands on. -
The Bills smack the snot out of other teams players
PolishDave replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hilarious. I love how hard the Bills defense and special teams are hitting people too. There was one play where (at full speed) it looked like a Jet's guy got decapitated by like four Bills players in the secondary. I told my wife - Holy ****! somebody is going to get killed playing this Bills defense. Teams have to get a little queasy when watching game film on the Bills defense. Somewhere in the back of their minds there must be this little scaredy-cat whimpering that they don't want to play against us. -
I don't know if the Bills are a good team...
PolishDave replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it is fair to say the defense has proven it is good. Maybe not Superbowl caliber, but definitely playoff caliber. I think it is also fair to say the offense has proven it is not good. It is below average for sure. This week they took a step forward against a bad team and played above average. Special teams has been fine. As of right now (above average defense) + (below average offense) + decent special teams = about average football team. If they can find a way to keep things going offensively, this team could definitely be a playoff team. They are going to have to beat at least one great team (maybe 2 of them) in order to prove that. If they want it bad enough, the talent is there. They just need to adjust the carburetor and run some higher octane gasoline. -
Fair enough. I just wouldn't feel confident going into any game with EJ at QB. I never have ever felt really confident with him in there going into a game. With Orton, at least there is confidence knowing that if he has a clean pocket you will probably get good quarterback play. Orton is more likely to throw deep for a big play. He is just more fun to watch. Better audibles. More accurate. Marrone made a great decision when he chose to go with Orton over EJ. Otherwise, my intuition tells me the Bills would already be definitively out of the playoffs.
