Manning, Brady, and Orton... it's all mental!
PolishDave replied to TheFunPolice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I completely agree that the reason Manning loses vs. Brady is mental. I think that Brady is in Manning's head in a bad way and makes Manning play less than he is capable of. I disagree with your assessment of Brady though. I think he thinks his crap doesn't stink. He is very good at regaining his confidence even after he has played a bad quarter or bad half. I think that is what makes Brady the superior quarterback. His ability to get back on track quickly is a very rare trait. -
Kansas City; What's going to happen?
PolishDave replied to Clippers of Nfl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. Scoring early would be ideal. The Bills need to be good tacklers this week. And they need to get their own running game going. I expect the Bills defense to show up, but I don't expect them to be perfect this week. The offense will need to get the running game going or this will be a long miserable game with lots and lots of punting. Speaking of which, we need a good game out of the special teams. Field position will be important. -
What did the texans win last year? Like 2 games or something? They seem to be a bit better this year. Yup...Fitz is the problem....
-
C'mon Tommy get up.... I owe Vinnie Boombots ten g's. He says he will fuggeddaboudit so long as yooze guys win dis. I can trow flags all day.. but you gotta get back in der.
-
I noticed that too. Brady actually slapped a tackler in the face one time...like a pansy girl slap..... I thought that should have been an obvious personal foul....but I guess the refs figured it was too feminine to warrant a flag

Hackett is a Good Offensive Coordinator.
PolishDave replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Okay cool. It would be nice to know more about it. It would be really cool to know which specific plays he was talking about and when they happened during the game. Maybe Hackett deserves a little more rope that he can choose to hang himself with or not..... -
Hackett is a Good Offensive Coordinator.
PolishDave replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why presumably to runs? Wouldn't he normally just go to a different receiver on a different route who isn't double covered? I say this because you don't "check" down to runs. You audible to runs. You "check down" to different receivers running shorter routes when the defense takes away the deep route. -
Thoughts on who will coach Jets in 2015
PolishDave replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are right. But you are looking at it from an outsider perspective. Right now there are still plenty of Jets fans and coaching staff who want to try to salvage the season to save further embarrassment. -
Who can the Bills least afford to lose to injury
PolishDave replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1) Hackett 2) Marrone 3) EJ No question. In that order. Without a doubt. -
Thoughts on who will coach Jets in 2015
PolishDave replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If by that you mean "get stuck in a deep rut" then I agree with you. Vick is a has been. He is done. He isn't a real threat with either his arm or his legs anymore. -
Sorry man, missed it. Glad I wasn't the only one who caught that favoritism.

Thoughts on who will coach Jets in 2015
PolishDave replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes I believe he said the only way he would coach again is if it was for the Oakland Raiders. I think the Jet's go for an offensive minded head coach assuming they ditch Rex. I think their smarter move would be to give Rex full reign as GM/head coach. But I don't think they will do that. -
The Refs have so much man love for Brady it is sickening for a straight guy to watch. In the Denver game after Brady was sacked on a play, the head ref jogged over and helped Brady get back up. Brady was slow to get up, but this buddy ole ref did him a favor and lended him a hand. I was like WTF? Part of the game is wearing down the opponent. How nice was it of this ref to go help his buddy Tommy boy get off his ass when he just got pancaked? Refs are supposed to be unbiased. This was a clear case of favoritism. Let him get up himself. It is part of the game man. Part of the game..... Maybe they have to burn a timeout there. Or maybe they get a delay of game because he doesn't get ready for the next play in time. Or maybe Brady has to come out if for a play if they blow the whistle for an injury. No doubt in my mind, those refs were biased, especially the head ref.

Best sentence in that article. Wish the Bills did more of that.

Whatever dude.....you don't know if you don't try....it has been proven to work extremely well in the past....nothing to lose in trying it...try something different...

When you line up in the shotgun formation on 3rd down, teams will expect pass first. Especially when you spread the field with wide receivers. Then you run halfback draws, quarterback draws and shovel passes. Maybe they work and maybe they don't. But it is something the Bills haven't tried much this year. And what they are doing right now isn't working. So why not try it?
-
Why the hell not? You run them out of the shotgun. the other team expects pass. You run instead. Bills did it all the time back in the day. back when they had an explosive offense. Draws out of the shotgun. Shovel passes out of the shotgun. the holes are created automatically because the defensive linemen are pass rushing.
-
Shotgun draw.

This is exactly how I feel. The Bills defense is good enough to keep you in games against good teams for a while. But, the offense has to be able to move the chains and score or else the game will get out of hand anyway. You can't rely on turnovers to go your way as part of a game plan. You have to move the ball and score TD's.

What To Take From the Jets Game ?
PolishDave replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is pretty much how I feel except I like McKelvin returning punts. He gives us a better chance at making a big play there. I think it is well worth the risk. Every year there seems to be a team that comes on strong towards the end of the year and starts playing exceptionally well. I am hoping the Bills' offense gets on track so that we become that team. -
If you don't have the talent to execute one play, but you do have the talent to execute another play, then why not try to execute the one that you feel is more likely to result in moving the chains or possibly scoring. Why keep running a play that has very little chance of success and even when it is successful results in a 4 or 5 yard gain? I could see you keep trying that low percentage play if there is a good chance you might score on that play (like a deep pass for example). But if the play is designed to get you 5 yards and you only execute it one or two times out of ten, why keep running it. You may as well take a shot at a play where you move the chains or score if it is executed properly.
-
You don't build an offensive game plan intentionally playing like crap for most of the game so you can maybe fool the other team on one play later in the game. Come on man....
-
In Hackett's defense I would have to say that play calling inside the Red Zone has gotten better. They are scoring more often inside the red zone than they were before. I am sure a lot of that has to do with Orton though. But, Hackett probably deserves some credit for that also. Outside of the Red Zone his play calling and formations are often questionable. P.S. If Fred Jackson is healthy, does Hackett even make that play call to Lee Smith? Maybe? Maybe not huh?

Hey rfk, Isn't this topic already being discussed in another thread. OR is your opinion so important you need to have your own thread? Just askin....
