  1. Teams cannot sign players to their practice squads until 8/27. So it’s for the 53.
  2. There have been others. DT Jowon Briggs was traded. Him and a 7th went from the Browns to the Jets for a 6th.
  3. Specials is his path. I don’t think there’s a Shavers problem. If his play on Specials warrants a spot - and I think it very well might - then he’ll make the team. If not, then he’s a cut as his play solely at WR does not warrant keeping him on the 53. If he’s cut then he’s likely a PS player.
  4. The NFL changed their rules to make this unnecessary.
  5. I thought it odd too. Perhaps they’re waiting on actually having the MRI done due to swelling. It’s been three days now (I think) since the injury so that should be under control. Or maybe that was just a deflection. The MRI was done and results reviewed, but the Bills don’t want to have to answer questions about the results.
  6. Agreed. He was allowed to do a lot of things in college that won’t work in the NFL. He was still able to be successful against some of the also-ran teams, but even defenses like BYU were way too much for him. He has talent, but he’s much further behind in his development that I thought. And I already thought he had a lot of work to do.
  7. I’ve read many posts about acquiring a CB that is another team’s cut. Finding a good CB this way is not realistic. 32 teams want to be 5 deep at CB and they’re all looking for help. We’re also at the tail end of the waiver priority list. On the off chance a team is going to get rid of a CB worth rostering then that team will be trading that player. I’m happy to get a CB that way, but there won’t be many. The other option is to meet the price of Gilmore or another healthy vet. I’m not sure how much he wants, but I’d sure find that out if I were Beane.
  8. Running backwards when pressured is among the issues Sanders has to clean up in order to become a viable NFL player.
  9. Manning did interview well, then told SD to pound sand. He told them that he wouldn’t play for them and to trade him to the NY Giants. Sanders isn’t nearly a perfect prospect and he certainly messed up the pre draft process. But he never told any team he was above playing for them.
  10. It’s not that far fetched at all IMO. Those rules apply to anyone not name Manning.
  11. He named it “Top 5 II”. Wow. I think I know where he got that.
  12. It was mind boggling how he could be that athletic and yet so ineffective as a blitzer.
  13. They could just be checking him out physically in case they need to add a WR during the season. Ditto Pittsburgh.
  14. A few observations: - Tre Edmunds was one of the worst blitzers I’ve ever seen. That’s not hyperbole. If there was a free OLman, he’d find him. I always assumed it was him and not coaching. Let’s hope that was the case. - While under McDermott the Bills haven’t been effective running inside blitzes, they’ve done well with outside blitzes, especially by DBs. - You can have very effective safety play from smart/savvy players with average athleticism as long as you’re in Cover 2 or higher types of coverage. - Cover 1 and 0 require much better athleticism on the part of safeties. They’re also blitzes. - Reading that all leads me to believe this why there is a push for better/more athletic safety play because McDermott wants to blitz more this season.
  15. Truth. Spicy Dragon is killer. The Rachel is my other go to. But, yeah, Jonny C’s got pricey. It’s close, so takeout is easy at least.
  16. This was also my immediate thought.
  17. Miami was set to draft Gabriel in the 3rd. After the Browns took Sanders in the 5th, the Phins called the Browns about trading for him (Gabriel). He is actually shorter and smaller than Tua. 5’11” 205# vs 6’1” 225#. But he doesn’t have the injury issues. His height will likely prevent him from ever becoming a full time starter in the NFL. There are very few successful Russell Wilson type QBs out there. But his size was his only flaw as a prospect. If he was 3” taller he’d have been a top 2 pick.
  18. I thought the same in general last night. Mike White and Shane Buechele didn’t help any of the receivers. I’d have been upset if I was out there trying to help my chances and didn’t have a competent QB.
  19. I agree that it needs to happen, but I’d wait until after the last game. Two reasons. One, it’s appropriate to give him every chance to make the team. Two, we need him to take snaps in the last preseason game. I wouldn’t worry about distraction. There’s 15 days between the last preseason game and the game against the Ravens. What’s an extra 5 or 6 days versus giving him another opportunity?
  20. Enough to kick off the rust.
  21. I forgot about Moore. He did have better college stats than Bond. Kinkad is a TE, but if you want to include him, theirs are similar. No one else had as good as stats though. Generally Bond was considered a day two prospect. I saw a couple people that had him late first and a couple people that had him early day three, but largely it was day 2. Beyond that we will have to just wait and see how it works out with all of the players mentioned.
  22. Production has certainly been a criticism of Bond. He was largely used as a decoy however. Judging by his play when used more efficiently he certainly seems like he’s capable of much more. I have seen him compared to Terry McLauren for that reason. But if you want to talk college production and where he’d fit on the Bills we can do that. Who on the Bills besides Shakir produced more as a WR in college than Bond has? I think that’s the whole list, right?
  23. That’s ridiculous. The only thing you got correct is that he adds deep threat ability. Bond has excellent hands despite them being small. He had a 1.9% drop rate this past season. He is a much different WR than Goodwin too. Goodwin was a stretch the field only X WR with a very limited route tree beyond that. Bond has the skill set to run a full tree. He does have some limitations, but that mostly has to do with his size and strength. He has had some trouble playing against large, physical CBs that jam him at the LOS. But he has excellent acceleration, top end speed, lateral agility and stop/start ability. Other than him being a tad bit on the small side - 5’11”, 180# - and needing some refinement on his release package and route running, he is exactly what you want in a Z/Y WR. As a prospect he reminds me of Waddle in size, style and ability. He’d be starting for the Bills less than halfway through this season.
  24. Other than the one accusation that was just “dismissed with prejudice” I haven’t seen any other accusation or restraining order against Bond? Google didn’t come up with anything else either. What other info do you have?
