  1. I played DIII in college, but what's funny is I never had any deep appreciation for the game until I coached my kids in youth football. Even with 12 year old kids, you see the game a little differently when you're the one teaching, calling plays, etc.
  2. Playing DE in this system seems to require more discipline than just pinning your ears back and getting to the QB, and this is probably why we saw what you're describing. If he was stressed about keeping contain, it would be easy to let that Olineman get into you on a pass play. He will get coached up and play much more confidently next season I am sure.
  3. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Epenesa came in next year and showed massive improvement.. he obviously has talent and a good work ethic (this whole “twitchy” thing is so overrated). A full offseason with NFL coaching will do wonders.
  4. Last year's D would have gotten lit up tonight as bad or worse than our current D.
  5. That dude wasn't coming close to catching anyone, much less a DB that had a 10 yard running head start!
  6. Jay Glazer Yeah, Cowherd loves to come up with these things and then milk it for hours on end. A couple years ago he was banging the drum to get rid of all salary caps in sports. Just let the smaller markets die off if they couldn't compete. He brought on a well-respected guest who I think Cowherd felt might agree with him. Guy instantly told him what a horrible idea that would be. Never mentioned it again.
  7. The expressions on the guys faces in the background are hilarious in slo-mo
  8. Am I missing something (which is very possible)? Zimmer to me looks extremely mediocre out there...I don’t think I’ve ever seen him beat his man on a pass rush, and is not exactly Randy White vs the run. Nice guy, lots of hustle
  9. Agree... I would include Phillips as a guy who’s had a rough season that played very well tonight.
  10. The coaches really did a nice job. Maybe it's because Beasley wasn't 100%, but it seemed as though they couldn't find that 1 go-to play that they needed for a 5-7 yard gain. Lots of scrambling and creativity, which is fine but not ideal when you are in the lead and trying to just grind 1st downs and clock.
  11. Man, it looks so comfortable in the stadium. I often sit in that section and there’s usually a knee in my back, and beer spilled all over my shoes by kickoff.
  12. 100% spot on. DLine was completely nullified which puts an incredible amount of pressure on the LBs. Add in some extremely accurate throws and a strong RB, and its gonna make almost any linebacker look bad.
  13. Edmunds played very well. Milano wasn’t terrible but was a bit out of synch on some key plays
  14. It is just a matter of time before there's a huge controversy with a play like this. The "clear recovery" rule mixed in with whistles blowing and guys either stopping or piling on...recipe for disaster.
  15. If the Pats were any other franchise, I think the consensus would be that they are screwed in the near-term. Even during the drought the Bills would usually be sniffing around at a Wild Card possibility this time of year, but always finishing up 7-9 or so. That is where NE is now, with a better coaching staff for the time being.
  16. Watching the replays I thought the exact same thing. Edmunds loves to lunge/dive at guys when he could just smother them. It’s how he hurt his shoulder week 1.
  17. Seems like the pendulum has swung from not calling the "close" calls (especially defensive holding, late hits on QB) to now overdoing it. Hoping it"ll level off sooner than later but it is aggravating.
  18. I don't really see what the coaches could do differently today, even in hindsight. I mean, I guess you can hang the turnovers and penalties on them....but it's not as though the Bills were repeatedly making the same mistakes over and over again--they made new ones each time . I think the defensive strategy and execution were pretty darn good, and the offensive strategy to establish the run was working great. Coulda/shoulda gone up by 2 TDs with 5 minutes to play. But I don't entirely disagree with you
  19. The price wasn’t really that bad at all, when you factor in them getting Tre White with the trade-down pick and then the Chiefs 1st rounder the following year. Getting Allen cost them Cordy Glenn, and then the 2 second rounders.
  20. Insane how many QBs came through the revolving door. I totally forgot Young played for us. Kind of irritating that teams don't seem to struggle looking for a QB for years like we did. Chargers lose Rivers, instantly get Herbert; Carolina loses Newton, picks up Bridgewater; etc
  21. Shady McCoy....great trade that really helped give the team some credibility for a few years. Of course Whaley botched it by renegotiating his contract, but oh well.
