  1. Have you watched NFL games recently? There are several teams with complete secondaries made up of back-ups and practice squad guys.
  2. I tend to agree, but it also feels like they haven't really learned from some of their mistakes (other than the NE game). 3rd and long D, holding penalties, having 2 or 3 surefire plays to gain 5 yards, etc. Getting better in these areas would absolutely make them more playoff-ready.
  3. But can you really keep playing that card when you are the one largely (totally?) responsible for having those sub-par QBs on the field?
  4. OK, I'll play along....so what? Should we throw him the ball less? Bench him? trade him? Send him to WR University this summer?
  5. Good Lord....someone is actually finding something to complain about with Stefon Diggs after what he's produced last night and all year. Unreal.
  6. Are you actually referring to Vegas odds-makers as “outsiders?” …making YOU the insider??
  7. For all the doom and gloom about the late game D....huge goal line stand and INT vs Balt; interception of Mahomes in final minute to protect 3 pt lead; Goal line stand vs Minn with < 1:00 up 4, and then again in OT to give the offense a chance.. I know it hasn't been all roses, but come on.
  8. A Patriots-esque move...let a guy walk, he kind of disappears, then bring him back for pennies a couple years later and he fits right in. Like J Phillips and Shaq did this year.
  9. I also thought Hamlin had a poor game. He seems fast as hell but loves to dive (and vs KC, miss) when tackling. Not a good trait as a Safety.
  10. His past play as a gadget guy/ punt returner/ Beasley replacement led to an increased role this year. It just ain’t working. The drops, stumbles, and no YAC ( which was supposed to be his thing) are obvious. Especially compared to legit NFL receivers on this team and across the league.
  11. Stifle yourself - that ball was perfect. You lead him AT ALL and you get your WR killed
  12. Oh he will suit up from time to time, maybe get a couple carries. But this move is essentially replacing guy #53ish on their roster. It's not to plug him in as a significant piece of a puzzle.
  13. Blackshear will never be heard from again, most likely. He’s #4 on a team with a superstar and 2 legit RBs (Foreman and Hubbard) ahead of him. Good for him though to get the paycheck.
  14. I think the casual fan loves the storyline of a guy who is somehow SO good at their job/sport compared to everyone else. Bellicheat was that guy among NFL coaches. Rather than showing humility, his crappy attitude toward the press and others when he did lose makes any current criticism very enjoyable to me.
  15. The bolded is true when you hit a home run on drafting one of those premium position players. What if the more likely scenario happens and the player is "good"...that second contract gets a lot trickier as other teams with cap space will over pay for "good" CB', DE's, etc. I also think you could spin your argument to taking RBs early...most RBs come out of the gate in peak or close-to-peak performance. Why not draft one and get great value for 3-5 years? Let him walk when that second contract comes up, and start back over. Spend your FA dollars on other premium position needs.
  16. Getting rid of Ford for a 5th should count toward it being a GOOD week. We have already lived through the "bad" on that deal. Agree on the Araiza situation and OJ Howard miss.
  17. Could it be that in 2020 we benefitted from OTHER teams being less organized/ buttoned-up due to there being no pre-season? There is so much that goes into putting a good product on the field (which I think is the main goal), I don't think we can totally discount the importance of pre-season.
  18. I would argue against the game "not having changed much", even since the time that Barber was playing. You rarely see defensive guys launching themselves headfirst into receivers and running backs anymore. And we can clearly see the difference in how QB's are hit. Like them or not, the recent rule changes have drastically affected that part of the game.
  19. Even though the first study you reference was released fairly recently (2017), the actual data comes from 10ish years ago: Methods: Thirty-eight NFL defensive players with a history of ACLR from 2006 to 2012 were identified. For each injured player, a matched control player was identified.
  20. I had season tickets to Tech last year and got to see this guy a bunch. In person, he stood out as a massive dude who seemed to move around pretty well against solid competition (UNC, Notre Dame, Pitt). Tech had very poor QB play so they had to run it a ton, and the o-line did a pretty good job.
