  1. McDermott can’t keep benching Cook for extended periods of time for a drop. Yes, Cook needs to be better with the ball. Yes, fumbles or drops are always costly. But benching him isn’t the answer. We’re not in high school here! Cook needs to know that coaches have his back. If Marv Levy was in this situation, Cook would get the ball on the very next play! On a fumble, or drop, he owes one to his teammates and coaches. Give him that opportunity to pay them back. Let him show his teammates that he has their back also!
  2. My first game was the 1st preseason game at the then new Rich Stadium. My dad used to take my brothers and I on bike rides down to watch them build the stadium. We grew up in the village of Orchard Park. Then to actually go there for the first game played there was beyond what a boy could ever imagine! Then, later in the 70's I went to a Monday Night game when someone had a big picture of Howard Cossell's head superimposed on a picture of a baby on a bearskin rug. Howard stuck his head out of the press box and waved. The place went nuts!!
  3. I think that the original plan with McDermott and Beane was to build for the future; not looking to just make the playoffs and lose in the 1st round, but to plan to make and do damage in the playoffs further down the road. The Bills quick start threw a monkey wrench into that plan and McDermott, being a new HC and not wanting to lose the veterans, started preaching winning both now and later. The last three games brought everything back to reality and back to the original long term vision, hence starting Peterman. Only giving him a few days to prepare for his 1st NFL start wasn't fair to Peterman, if he is seen as a quick fix. I think McDermott thought he would play much better and could afford to stick with him. Now he has to come out on one side or the other; either try to win now with Taylor, or plan for the future and go with a rookie QB. He's in a very tough spot now.
  4. If TT's mobility is his strength, why do the play calls keep him in the pocket? Especially when there are questions about the O-line's play, calling plays that ask him to drop straight back don't appear to make sense. At least give him a chance to run away from trouble by design by rolling him out.
  5. The first thing I thought of when I heard about this was: "what have they been building for all these previous years? What has been their thought process before? Haven't they been building toward something before??
  6. I think you hit it on head with Brandon taken away from all football/personnel decisions. Let him do what he does well: market the team. Don't let him do what he does poorly: football!
  7. Let's hope if TT plays, that he makes it out not hurt worse. The season have too long to go yet! With all our injuries though, we are looking more and more like the Jags talent wise. Let's just get out with a win and everyone not more banged up.
  8. I'm all for the optimism, but we will still need a QB to get them the ball and a better line to keep him standing!
  9. Rex has his defense and all of these new toys for the offense are nice but he'll still need a few new linemen to make it work. I agree leaving Pears behind is a start. Let's hope their plans B, C and D revolve around the O-line.
  10. I guess that all depends on who a new coach is and how quickly he is brought in. What is the date where these 3 players can officially hit the open market?
  11. I realize that the QB play has been poor. That's easy to see. But it seems that a big complaint of our receivers is that they have trouble getting free vs. tight man to man coverage. Why then do they just get in a formation and stay there until the snap? Isn't the idea of going in motion so your receivers can get into better match ups downfield? If we have trouble getting free off the line, why aren't we moving our receivers around pre-snap?
  12. Can someone please explain for me why the Bills have, at times start games 100 miles per hour, then completely seize up? They have had games where they start moving the ball up and down the field, both running and passing. Then after a few drives, the whole thing completely shuts down. I understand that games are made up of adjustments, but what prevents us from making the same adjustments? Is this poor coaching, or not having the athletes to make adjustments?
  13. I agree. It's only something that a "Buffalo fan" would understand. I started to choke up reading it and it was a great feeling! Nothing but pride!!
  14. While I certainly do agree that it would be tough to pass up a "franchise" type of a QB, I'm still not sold on CN. Hasn't Buddy said that he doesn't like to go for guys that haven't played 4 years in college? Especially a QB? There must be a good reason for Buddy to say something like that, especially given Newton's past; with transferring from Florida and with his dad... I don't know if this is a risk worth taking seeing all of the other equally pressing needs we have. Thoughts?
  15. Let's hope not. The closer they stay to the throwbacks, the better. Everytime I see those throwback jerseys, I forget for a moment how bad they have been.
