  1. No doubt. I was hoping that one of those teams would be another game clear at this point. If that division is won at 10-7 or even 9-8, the Chiefs are still the likely winner IMO. The hope is/was that someone else gets to 12-5 or even 11-6. If they do, the Chiefs could be out altogether. They have a couple more losses coming up. They’re lucky to get Detroit when they are. The Lions are banged up.
  2. If you have sensors in the ball and sensors at the marker, they can communicate. You’re then left with the issue of “when the knee (or wrist or whatever) touches down.” You continue using all of the angles available to determine that and then you combine the two. It’s not a perfect answer but it’s way, way, way better than the old guy running in with his foot.
  3. I’d like to think, in 2025, a company that generates over $23B a year, could spot the ball accurately. There is absolutely technology available that’s far superior to an old guy running out with his foot. You could also develop technology better than what we already have (which again is way better than the current process). Maybe an old guy running in and putting his foot where he thinks that the ball goes will remain for West Senca East vs. Williamsville North but that’s not good enough for the NFL.
  4. The Chiefs were nowhere near as good as their record said last year (10-0 in 1 score games) and nowhere near as bad as their record says now (0-3 in 1 score games). They are in trouble though because they could be a 7 loss team. That may not get them into the playoffs.
  5. I think that would happen for a little while. They always say, “there’s holding on every play.” What will happen over time though is the process of a penalty being assessed will be much quicker. You won’t have some old guy running 50 yards in to have a discussion with another old guy about what they thought they saw. It “is” or “isn’t.” Also, teams will adapt and we will see teams evolve to commit less penalties. The ones that will be called will be way more consistent. There will be some lumps for a couple of years but after that, it’ll flow fine.
  6. Great post!! I always think about tennis. In 10 seconds, they can figure out, if a tennis ball, hit at 120 MPH, caught the line by a millimeter. The NFL, still, can’t decide what’s a first down. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Why do we have a bunch of old men running in and putting their foot where the think the ball goes? It’s 2025!!!
  7. I don’t believe that any leagues are fixed. Basically, I don’t believe that the leagues are trying to influence the outcomes of games to steer officiating to one side. I do believe that it’s easy to have shady back door dealings where you can “buy a flag.” For the right number, it wouldn’t be impossible to believe some random back judge would throw a timely flag. I also believe that a much bigger problem, in all sports, is inconsistency. With technology we should be beyond “the human element” in most cases. One of the most frustrating things when watching baseball, is when they say, “____ has a hitter/pitcher friendly strike zone.” What the hell does that mean?!? The strike zone is the strike zone. It isn’t meant to be interpreted by an old guy. In football we see, this crew “calls the most presnap penalties in the league.” We need to get to a point when every crew calls the exact same presnap penalties. They are either a penalty or they are not!!
  8. I apologize for the confusion. My post might have been poorly worded. I suspect that the Bills can get any HC to want this job. I don’t think that the Rams or 49ers are trading McVay or Shanahan. Why would they? Why would we trade Josh? We wouldn’t. I have zero interest in those washed up olds. Gruden, McCarthy, and BB are all a hard no. If you aren’t “now” I have no interest. The game evolves too much to be looking for “years ago” to work. That’s an awful idea. I was saying that Patricia may or may not be gettable as the DC. The Bills probably have to make him a $4M - $5M a year guy to do that. He will get a raise at OSU and is already highly compensated.
  9. It appeared that the Pats just manned up on the WRs last night and blanketed them. That’s not Brady. That’s the garbage WRs. Go back and watch tape of the Joe Burrow LSU title team. Obviously their WRs were elite but they were open EVERYWHERE. That’s the same Joe Brady. He was just scheming for Chase and Jefferson instead of Coleman and Palmer.
  10. I voted for Brady because I think that’s the most reasonable. Trading for McVay or Shanahan just doesn’t seem possible. They’re obviously great. I’d probably try to keep the offense together (with better receivers of course) and hope that he has a better idea for the defense. I’d try to hire Matt Patricia as the DC. He’s making $2.5M at OSU so maybe it’s not realistic but the Raiders hired Chip Kelly away for $6M a year.
  11. With all of the things going wrong, it’s probably a good idea to bring this back up. Kincaid has taken a step. Yesterday was his best game as a pro. He’s a threat down the field, a good blocker and the Bills best pass catcher. That’s the guy we thought we were getting when he was drafted. It took a little time but he’s turned into a Pro Bowl level TE. Kudos to Kincaid!!
  12. I think that’s fair. The Bills have tried to lead us there because they took him, when they needed a WR, in arguably the greatest WR draft ever. He has been hyped by them as the guy they wanted. If that’s the case, they wouldn’t have traded down twice. He was hyped again in camp. The day I was there, I bought in. He looked good!! They have a big time interest in trying to convince everyone that he’s more than he is. They can’t be like, “we needed a WR, took a swing, and got the wrong guy.” They have to keep that up or admit that he wasn’t a good pick.
  13. Seriously?!? 🤣🤣 He is probably the 2nd most popular jersey in the stadium every week. Cook is who people wanted Keon to be. He’s the best skill player Josh plays with, followed by Kincaid and then Shakir. It’s not disregard of hope. He’s just not very good. He’s a guy. We wanted him to be a number 1. He’s a role player, like Gabe Davis with a different skillset.
  14. I can say, from the stadium, guys were BLANKETED. My whole section was going nuts. He missed a couple of guys but he was getting to his 4th and 5th read at times!! The tape will not be kind to the WRs. It was really, really bad.
  15. Every team has a guy(s) that a portion of the fan base WAY overrates. The Eagles fans overrate Hurts (who is good), some Miami fans with Tua (who isn’t good) and we have Keon truthers. Since the draft they’ve hoped/believed that he would be something that he isn’t. That’s not fair to him. He was never going to be “the guy.” He has too many holes for that. He’s a role player and the 4th option on a good offense.
  16. We don’t need to revisit the Wilson conversation but he’s on pace for 112/1300/14 on an offense that has no one else to try to defend. 🫣 I’d give my left arm and a couple of fingers on my right hand for him.
  17. The offensive production was WAY better with Amari in the lineup despite his own stats. People don’t want to hear that but you just gave another example of it. The threat on the outside created lots of opportunities for others including Josh. I’d love to have someone that defenses fear.
  18. I thought it was really good. My whole section was SCREAMING for guys to get open. Josh was getting to like his 4th and 5th read. That’s what made it especially frustrating to me. It isn’t like he was forced to just let it go quickly. The tape will not be kind to the WRs.
  19. Up: Kincaid Prater Pass Protection Down: WRs Coaching Pass Rush DBs I almost want to exclude the DBs and WRs because they just aren’t good. I’m not sure that they’re “down” as much as they’re “not good enough for a team with championship aspirations.” Josh had all day to throw. Guys were blanketed and he wasn’t seeing the field well yesterday. This was not his best game but I hesitate to hold too much against him. The same goes for the running game.
  20. Payton is 9-9 in the playoffs. One of those losses was that Denver team last year that isn’t good. So he was 9-8 with Brees. That’s similar to McDermott. He has a Super Bowl title and was robbed of a 2nd appearance with the worst call in history. If they throw the flag on NRC, and the Saints go to a 2nd, he walks into the HOF. He’s a bad guy but the thought of people around here that McDermott > Payton is WILD to me. You need to win when it matters most. He’s done that. The Bills would 100% have a Super Bowl title (or a few) by now if it had been Sean Payton instead of Sean McDermott. I’m not here to dwell on Sean Payton though. That ship has sailed. The point is, lots of people could win 1-2 playoffs games a year with Josh Allen. That’s not good enough. That’s not the goal.
  21. If you take away, the worst call in NFL History (literally voted the worst call ever), he plays for a 2nd and likely wins it. Payton turned around a doormat in Denver and had a crazy run with Brees. I’d take 1 (should be 2) Super Bowls and a couple of missed playoffs over getting bounced by KC every year. The goal is to win a championship -period. It’s not about being competitive for a lot of years. You’re in year 8 of Josh Allen as your QB. You’ve never even played for a title. That’s a failure. You cannot continue to let years tick off his career. The window closes some each year that he doesn’t get there.
  22. 100% agree. It was how the Panthers operated too. They need to stop asking Josh to make bad players better and allow Josh to maximize his unique ability with talented pass catchers. Fantastic post
  23. He’s just not very good. This is who he is. If people expected more, it wasn’t based on his skillset, it was based on hope. It’s honestly not his fault. He works hard and has a great attitude. This is the exact guy he was on film in college. Expecting him to be someone that he wasn’t was the issue.
