The NEW Bills Stadium and the NEW Las Vegas
Kirby Jackson replied to DeepPass's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is the part that I take issue with. The Bills don’t care who is there. They care that they get the number that the market supports. That’s exactly what’s happening in the new stadium. They aren’t trying to replace people with other people. They are trying to replace underpriced areas with seats priced more in line with what they go for around the league. The seats in the lower level between the 20’s have been underpriced, forever (literally). The Bills don’t care if the same people that have gotten them way below market value for 50+ years stay there in the new stadium. They just care that those seats go for market value. The people that have had them the longest get first crack at them. -
What we saw Sunday, is that you can just man up on those WRs and focus on everything else. Josh had the most time of any game this year to throw but guys couldn’t get open. The Pats have good corners but so do a lot of teams. How often are the Bills WRs better than their opponents DBs? Lol, that might only happen during practice 🤣🤣

The NEW Bills Stadium and the NEW Las Vegas
Kirby Jackson replied to DeepPass's topic in The Stadium Wall
Supply and demand is more appropriate here. The fans are willing to spend on the product. I talked to a high ranking Bills official not too long ago that said they are ahead of schedule with the sales in the new stadium. They wanted to be done by next summer but it’ll be closer to the end of this season. I can only speak for myself when it comes to the new stadium. As a regular guy, I had a limit to what I was willing to spend. I declined the first offering and a week later, found seats that met my needs and budget. That’s how this works. No one is forcing anyone to buy in or not. If you can’t afford it, that’s life. I’d love to drive a Lamborghini around but it’s not realistic so I don’t. I don’t begrudge Lamborghini for pricing me out of the market. Their job is to make as much money as they can. It’s the same concept… -
The Bills have scored lots of points DESPITE their lack of pass catching weapons not BECAUSE of everybody eats. Josh Allen is the reason that they have an elite offense. The TEs, OL and James Cook are also excellent allowing the team to stay on schedule. They score a lot of points. They may have the worst WRs in the NFL (certainly bottom 5). Both of those things can be true at the same time. That’s the case here.

McConkey had an 1149 yard season and Thomas had a 1282 yard season. They’ve been bad this year so far but they have PROVEN that they can be the focal point of an offense. The Bills would trade Keon for either in 1 second. I absolutely believe that they would have been better picks. Lol, that’s not a controversial take. If you think that the Bills, in need of a guy at the top of the depth chart, expected him to be a rotational piece with Josh Palmer and Curtis Samuel, I have a bridge for sale. They wanted “the” guy and got “a” guy. Maybe he improves. There is nothing that the Bills need more at this point than for him to get better (besides better play in the secondary). No one is saying he has no chance to improve. With that being said, as of today, he’s a disappointment. This is not the level of play that the Bills had hoped for when they took him at 33.

I don’t put too much stock into anything at the combine. It’s nice to confirm what you think you see on tape but guys are so rehearsed now for every drill it’s almost like they can manipulate the results. That’s not a Keon thing. That is every guy participating in every drill. He is a bit of an enigma. His game has clear holes that aren’t easy to overcome. Kincaid’s weaknesses when he entered the draft were size and strength. He wasn’t a good blocker because of it. As a pass catcher he was a very safe option. He had good athleticism, hands, route running, contested catch ability and YAC skills. Basically, to improve he needed to grow and be more physical. That’s much easier to do than to say, “accelerate quicker,” and “get quicker feet to run sharper routes and create more separation.” That’s some of what Keon is up against. Everyone comes out with areas for improvement. Some guys have simple areas to improve like Kincaid while others have flaws that guys do not often overcome like Keon or Josh. Fortunately, Josh beat the odds of overcoming his flaws. Keon looks like the exact same guy that he was in college, a bit of an enigma lol.

They aren’t on the Bills so not really a concern to me. Both had Pro Bowl years as rookies and are struggling this year (especially Thomas). Lol, no one is piling on. It’s just calling it what it is. You’re jumping in as one of the Keon Truthers that I described. I’m not sure what there is to be disagreeing with? You responded to a post where I saw, “he has not been good.” I probably should have used the word “disappointment” which is what I think I said in the Keon thread (where this conversation belongs). I did not mean to derail this thread giving props to Kincaid. Do you agree that Keon has failed to meet expectations to this point? If you agree with that, you are, by definition, agreeing that he has been a disappointment.

Why keep bringing certain guys back?
Kirby Jackson replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
Fair enough. I think that there’s truth there and probably with Tre too. I guess my point is, even if he will “only come back for the Bills” -pass. He’s just not good enough anymore. I’d rather take a chance on someone else. -
Why keep bringing certain guys back?
Kirby Jackson replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
Of course everyone does it. How many teams have 10% like that? I could see 5% MAYBE. 2 or 3 guys and not 7 would feel about right. -
I mentioned it in the Spector thread but it got me thinking. There is a level of arrogance within this regime that could be studied. They will bring back guys that no one else wants, because they know their system. There must be a belief that they are seeing something that others aren’t. The following guys, were here, gone and now brought back occupying a slot on the roster or PS: - Baylon Spector - Tre White - Jordan Poyer - Jordan Phillips - Dane Jackson - Nick Broeker - Gabe Davis I think that’s 10%(ish) of the roster & PS slots. There is not a market for any of those guys with the possible exception of a healthy Gabe. Crazy

I do think there’s a level of arrogance there that’s tough to overcome. There is a belief that “we know better” that leads us to bringing guys like Phillips and Spector back. I’d love them to just bring in guys that are better, even if they haven’t been in the system before.
-
This is so good. 🤣🤣🤣 It’s like Beane and McDermott are trolling us at this point. We complain, “these guys will only bring in guys that they know even if they stink.” They proceed to bring back Jordan Phillips, Jordan Poyer, and Baylon Spector. Their message to us:

Chauncey Gardner-Johnson to the Ravens
Kirby Jackson replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
He certainly does that. I’d like to think that the Bills locker room would have been strong enough to survive 1/2 a year of him. If they aren’t, that’s a problem. They are so bad there, I think that the gamble would have been worth it. At the same time, it’s not the end of the world. He’s fine. He’s not Ed Reed in his prime. -
Chauncey Gardner-Johnson to the Ravens
Kirby Jackson replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
Kind of how I feel. He’s not bad. That’s a step up for the Bills. -
You might be right. That division might be won at 10-7 though. Burrow already had them at 2-0. Could they have played .500 for a few months? Maybe, maybe not but the odds of that were much better with Jameis slinging it to those elite pass catchers than Jake Browning looking terrible.
-
This felt like a move that would have helped the Bills.
-
They should have traded for Jameis as soon as Burrow went down. They might have won that division with Jameis instead of Browning. With the Ravens in disarray I understand adding Flacco. It just feels like the wrong guy.
-
We just have so many Keon truthers here that jump in to defend him. His efficiency numbers rank him as the lowest of the Bills pass catchers. He is below the league average while playing with Josh Allen. That’s tough to do. He was the first pick in the 2nd round. He was supposed to be “the guy.” He may not be a top 2 or 3 WR within, arguably, the worst WR room in the NFL. That’s not who he was brought here to be. It’s okay to call it what it is. He has been a disappointment.
-
Average passer rating when targeted & below average yards per route run, is not good when Josh Allen is the QB. When you move it to 15 targets he comes in behind Palmer too. He’s the lowest of all qualifying Bills pass catchers. We don’t need to continue to defend him. He has not been good. He’s below average with the game’s best player as his QB.
-
No doubt. I was hoping that one of those teams would be another game clear at this point. If that division is won at 10-7 or even 9-8, the Chiefs are still the likely winner IMO. The hope is/was that someone else gets to 12-5 or even 11-6. If they do, the Chiefs could be out altogether. They have a couple more losses coming up. They’re lucky to get Detroit when they are. The Lions are banged up.

If you have sensors in the ball and sensors at the marker, they can communicate. You’re then left with the issue of “when the knee (or wrist or whatever) touches down.” You continue using all of the angles available to determine that and then you combine the two. It’s not a perfect answer but it’s way, way, way better than the old guy running in with his foot.
-
I’d like to think, in 2025, a company that generates over $23B a year, could spot the ball accurately. There is absolutely technology available that’s far superior to an old guy running out with his foot. You could also develop technology better than what we already have (which again is way better than the current process). Maybe an old guy running in and putting his foot where he thinks that the ball goes will remain for West Senca East vs. Williamsville North but that’s not good enough for the NFL.

The Chiefs were nowhere near as good as their record said last year (10-0 in 1 score games) and nowhere near as bad as their record says now (0-3 in 1 score games). They are in trouble though because they could be a 7 loss team. That may not get them into the playoffs.
