I think it’s possible that Allen plays the entire game tomorrow. The reps aren’t going to hurt him. They haven’t committed to a starter yet for opening day. They know what they have in Peterman. Allen could use the game experience.

So if he works out hard he will be the best QB ever, win 5 Super Bowls and play in 8? Sign me up!!

It makes perfect sense. The Saints are trying to make their run at the Super Bowl. Bridgewater protects them in the event of a Brees injury. Their window is now.

That’s all fine and good but we have no idea if he’s good or not. We also have an OL coach hired by McDermott that they fully trust. Maybe I’m on an island here but I wouldn’t leave my franchise QB in the hands of someone that has never developed a QB. I don’t think that is wise. That was my hope as well.

I’m not saying that he WANTS that necessarily. I’m saying that there is a number that will make him want it. By all accounts he loved working with Allen. Gruden didn’t want to go back to coaching either until the offer was too good to pass up. Dorsey did a great job with Cam and has a McDermott connection. Art Briles is a scumbag but has done great work with QBs. AVP? Which QBs has Culley developed? The answer is, none. Now, maybe he will develop Allen but his track record now is nil. I would never trust someone without a resume of QB development to develop my young franchise QB. That’s negligent IMO.

For one, I don’t know why it has to be much less money? If you gave Palmer $1.5M is that less than he’s making? If so, pay him more. Everyone raves about the results that he got from Allen. Has Culley done a good job so far? Peterman has shown improvement for sure. McCarron hasn’t shown much and Allen is about where we thought he’d be. Last year the QBs regressed. I’m not sure that he is doing a good job at all. He certainly wouldn’t be the guy that I’d hand a young QB prospect to. There are A LOT of guys with better (and longer) track records of QB development. Dorsey would have been another solid option. I’m not sure Palmer wants the grind either but there is a number that will change his mind. The Pegula’s have never been shy about opening the wallet.

He’s the guy that’s the worst at his job. His seat has to be hot IMO. Culley is next. He should not be the guy developing your young stud QB. They should have thrown a pile of money at Jordan Palmer to continue what he started. Daboll has over a year because he’s saddled with poor talent and a weak offensive coaching staff. He more or less has a pass this year for me.

Anything can happen but I’m with C.Biscuit. I’d take their roster over ours 10 times out of 10. They have better players.

No, but their roster is WAY more talented. They are a year ahead of us in their rebuild. Next year we have the cap space to go with 9 picks. They had that this year. The Browns should be better than the Bills this year. They can rush the passer, have a good OL, and a bunch of playmakers. Their roster is way deeper as well.

I just read it. I don’t see anything wrong with what he said. In fact, I’m not sure that there is much to debate. The Bills are well-coached and have a plan. It was going to take a few years. If Allen can play they are fine. If not they are a long way from being good. 2018 is going to be what it’s going to be. Next year will be when we see the progress.

It’s not losing on purpose. It’s deciding, “what’s the best course to win a championship?” That is what guides everything. The Eagles played Wentz, struggled, answering won a year later. Manning and Aikman struggled as rookies. Other teams have sat guys (ie Rodgers). Whatever the Bills believe is the best plan to win a title is what they need to do. It doesn’t matter if they win 4, 6 or 8. It’s irrelevant. Setting up for a run is all that matters.

I’m in this boat but I expect it to be a little worse than you do. I bet under 6.5 last week and don’t regret it. I hope it is a donation but at least it’s a hedge. This is a 3 year process IMO. If Allen proves that he can play I’m not worried about much else this year. Hopefully we find some guys that can play (maybe Teller for example) and worry about everything else next offseason. Let’s load up next year and take our shot.

All I know is he had a bad reputation before he got here and his unit got worse. They were a little unlucky the way it shook out this offseason losing so many guys but still. I agree with you that something has to give and that’s the most natural starting point IMO.

I was just going to say the same thing. You are spot on. That should have been first. They could have, and in hindsight, should have taken another OL in the mid rounds instead of Johnson or Neal. Maybe Tyrell Crosby would have helped fill one of the spots? They should have signed Chris Hubbard or Austin Howard and kept Seantrel. Your OL would have been something like: Dawkins - Teller/Ducasse/Miller/Mills - Groy - Crosby - Hubbard/Howard bench: Seantrel as the swing OT, Bodine as the C and whoever wins out between Ducasse, Mills and Miller as a swing guy on the interior

Yeah, they certainly do some tacky things. I believe that those volunteers aren’t even allowed to stay through the game.

Each NFL team took in $255M in national revenues last year. That is merchandise, licensing and TV. The cap last year was $168M. Networks will always fight over live sports.

The same way that they get paid now, massive TV deals.

I will throw one out there. McCarron and a late round pick to the Raiders for Brandon Parker. The Raiders get their number 2 QB and the Bills get a talented, young, small school OT. He can play RT, kick Mills inside to RG and start Teller at LG. You will still have some lumps but it is a good start to remaking your OL.

I voted yes despite how bad yesterday was (and it was truly awful). I think anyone gets killed behind that OL. I also think that teams know exactly how to play Peterman despite his superb preseason play (and he’s looked great). Teams will pressure him and play underneath all over the field. I don’t see any team letting the Bills run quick passing plays (regardless of who is in there). Why would you? They haven’t proven that they can hold up at the LOS so just bring heat and jump routes. The only way that’s going to change is if the Bills elude the rush and make a few plays down the field. I don’t think it’s going to be pretty at all. With that being said, I’d just assume he gets the experience now. The Bills aren’t going to be very good this year. That factors into my reasoning as well. If you are going to take your lumps do it now.
