Gary Barnidge visited the Bills May 3rd
Buftex replied to CNY315's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Given the QB situation in Cleveland during his tenure there, and considering he was backing up Jordan Cameron most of his career there, you kind of have to judge him on the last two seasons... he produced...he has great hands. -
Gotta say though, I am getting pretty pumped to see what this team can do next season... I loved Rondo too, but that is a road they probably won't go down again...he is a good player, but without some older vets to keep him in check (like KG and Pierce) I am not sure he is a great locker room guy. Love his game though...he and Glenn Davis are two of my sentimental favorites from that era... hearing Rondo may go to the Lakers. Can you imagine Rondo, and Ball Sr. together?

I am kinda bummed about losing AV, but I know it makes sense...he just turned into a really good player. The last link to the 2008 championship!

We can't proclaim draft picks as "busts" soon enough! -
Which players can the Bills not afford to lose to injury?
Buftex replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tyrod is the obvious choice...and I would hate to see it happen...but having Peterman start some games would definitely add some intrigue to the season. After Tyrod, I'd go with Sammy. -
July Movies: Spider-Man, Apes, Dunkirk, & Atomic Blonde
Buftex replied to Mark Vader's topic in Off the Wall Archives
As a big Planet of the Apes fanatic, but not a big fan of "franchise" flicks, I have to say, the Planet of the Apes re-boot have been a very pleasant surprise. Really looking forward to the new Apes flick. The original movies (especially the first 3) are amongst my all-time favorites...the new re-boot movies have done a great job of respecting the originals, but adding something new to them. Now, if eventually, they start having the apes wear cool uniforms, like the did in the originals, I will be really happy! -
Beta all the way!

Not sure how excited anybody gets about these things any more. The Buffalo Bills Yearbook (2016 highlight film) will be aired on the NFL Network, Sunday July 23rd, at 6pm eastern time. There are likely other airings in the wee-small hours of the morning, and maybe on ESPN2

Thanks for the reminder...I missed this the first time around! DVR set! -
Though technically not a "football movie", one of my favorite films of all-time is Barry Levinson's "Diner". It is set in late 1950's Baltimore, and there is a pretty funny football side-story in it. It involves one of the main characters, and obsessive Colts fan, having cold feet about getting married. He decides that his finance must pass a Colts trivia test, in order to proceed with the nuptials. Spoiler Alert: she passes, but then has to suffer through a Colts themed wedding!

Though I was not at this particular game, I have been to a little over 100 games...some really bad ones. I have only left two games early. The first was a 1984 game against the Browns in cascading rain. My girlfriend was miserable...we left about halfway through the 3rd qtr..it was a terrible game, Bills lost. The second was a 2010 Patriots game the day after Christmas. Bills got their asses handed to them, and it was frigid cold. I went with my sister, who at the age of 45, had never been to a game. She was a sport, but I could tell she was really struggling with the cold. Both times, because of extreme crappy weather (my companions choice, not mine), never because the game sucked.

I remember the day that game was on...it was just a few months before my ex and I split up for good! One of the things she hated about me the most, was my love of the Bills...not the Bills specifically, but she hated how miserable I was when they lost...particularly a Super Bowl. I remember it was really warm that day (Austin, TX) and I was watching the game...she was in a really pissy mood. She always wanted to go hiking, and do outdoors stuff...I was all into it too...but not if the Bills were on...I just remember, she had gone to a "watch party" with the previous weekend to see the Bills get destroyed by the Oilers. She wasn't "born into it" as they say, so in her book, the Oilers were the much better team. She decided she was going to garden, while I "wasted another Sunday watching that damn team". She kept walking back and forth through the apartment, making lots of noise. The more lopsided the score got, the angrier she was getting with me. "I can't believe you are watching this, its' beautiful outside.." When the 2nd half started, she moved on from gardening to washing the car, and doing laundry. I kept telling her "I'll do that when the game is over"! She yelled "the game is !@#$ing over...it's been over for 2 hours!" or something like that...I was miserable...I knew I was losing the love of my life, and the Bills were breaking my heart...again. But then, they started to comeback...she kept prancing back and forth, inside and outside..down by 17, she chuckled that I was starting to be hopeful...not my proudest moment..but I remember when they tied it up I just yelled, as she walked through again..."that's why I don't give up!" To her credit, she was happy for me...probably for the last time...

Was Zach Thomas that good? Brian Urlacher was a tad overrated in my book...but nice to see Cornelius Bennett make the top 25.

I guess we have far different standards then. What is funny though, whenever Trump is accused of something, he pretty much confirms the worst with one of his childish tweets, or some off the cuff remark... -

Couldn't disagree more. This is partly what I was talking about earlier in this thread...smart people going to absurd lengths to defend his behavior. I understand your problems with Clinton and Obama, but neither of them (particularly Obama) have ever stooped as low as this person. Not even close. And, I think you know that. It's okay, you hate Hillary Clinton...you hate Barrack Obama...but don't try to pretend that their level of degeneracy is equivalent to Trumps. I remember all the ridiculous instances where Obama was accused of lowering the level of the presidency for things like not wearing a tie in the oval office...it sounds funny, but right-wing media spent considerable time on this type of thing. They really worked themselves up until they were froathing at the mouth. And very honestly, my dis-like for him has nothing to do with him voting Repbulican or Democrat. I could care less. I lived in New York City in the 80's, when he started to really become a mainstream figure. He was always a crook and a snake oil salesmen. A bad joke. His crooked business dealings are well chronicled, I am not going to bother to list them, because I have no doubt, that would be met with counter accusations about Clinton, or Obama...blah, blah blah. Its' pointless. I realize, it is still early in his regime...but at some point, as you all cried about Obama, he is going to have to stand on his own merits, not pointing to everyone else, like a child, or re-running his 2016 campaign. I hope he goes after Carly Fiorina's ugly face at his next rally! I loved that! He is just loathsome... His whole involvement in the "Central Park Five" situation is reflective of the type of person he is. When he is wrong, he only doubles down on it...you can be sure, whenever he attacks somebody for some perceived weakness, he is doing it because he is attempting to hide those weakness in himself. For somebody as wealthy as he is, and as well traveled, he is amazingly un-sophisticated. And, he consistently shows a remarkable lack of empathy...sorry, but I do think that is an important quality in a leader, in a democracy. And, he just flat out lies about facts. He lies about things that we can all see plain as day. And this is the ugly truth of where we are...we don't give a **** about what is best for our country, only about pissing people off, if we aren't in agreement. And before you go all crazy on that, I am not saying that is exclusive to either side. But this president makes the hope of ever getting back to a level of civil discourse seem like a very far-fetched notion. We can only be happy if our counter-parts on the other side of the political aisle are miserable? Great country... -

The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency

Yeah I do. I am talking about the current president. He's a bad guy. I guarantee you he has done far worse. We could do this all day...the current president criticizes the Khan family. I have known of Donald Trump since the early 80's. He was a terrible person then, and he is a terrible person now. Plain and simple. We can argue about Hillary Clinton, or Barrack Obama all you want....but, to paraphrase your ilk over the last couple of months..."get over it, you won" Perhaps. but that doesn't exempt Trump from the same label...and he is our president...and he is incompetent. -

Really? Uh...I think you have me mistaken for somebody else. I never made any "announcement" or made any claims that I was stepping away for a business..I have never started up a business...it may not be that easy to remember what I said, especially when I never said anything to anyone here about "leaving PPP". Your just pulling this out of your ass. I just stopped checking it out, because frankly, the myopic nature of so much of the commentary was/is just kind of depressing. So, 4 Pinnocios for you and your memory, crooked grinreaper! FAKE NEWS! As for your "questions", not sure what you want me to say. I took that more as some opportunity you were taking to call me out on some perceived hypocrisy. Like, rhetorical questions. Its' kind of the cycle of discourse here..."your guy did this, your guy did that...blah blah blah" I have never claimed that Obama, Clinton, or anybody else didn't have their problems...I have had issues with all of them...its' the nature of the job. I can say, very honestly though, I have never felt that any president in my cognizant lifetime was just a fundamentally bad person...until this guy. Being wrong, and being a terrible human being are not the same thing. -

We'll see... No, I took a hiatus from PPP (and TBD in general) because I realized I could tell pretty much what everbody's take on any given subject would be...and it's amazing how little has changed over all these years! -

We will know if it is "non-existent Russia blather" when the investigation is complete...I would say though, I will be shocked if there is no "there there". Of course, Republicans are already laying the groundwork for not giving a crap about the results of the investigation. ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz.... -

They haven't "turned against him"...they are holding him to the scrutiny that his job commands. He can't handle that, because he has never had to answer to anyone before.
