The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency
Buftex replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
If by "most of America" you mean about 38%, you might be right. But, he is still a rotten human being, always has been, always will be...he doesn't deserve all the blame...it is a broken system that got him where he is. I think Joe and Mika are idiots too...they are in a many ways, responsible for this nightmare of an administration. But Trump is rotten to the core. It has nothing to do with Morning Joe, or any of that bull ****, as unseemly as it is. The article you linked is hilarious. It gives Trump far too much credit for having some sort of altruistic motive for being a boorish pig...he has been this way his entire public life. It has nothing to do with wanting to "fix DC" or anything like that...it has everything to do with his insatiable ego, and his bitterness that he isn't liked and respected the way his fragile ego needs. He thought being president would command respect for him, the respect he never had in NYC, but it is only exposing him to a larger circle of people who are realizing he is total garbage. And you know, for all the titty-babying about the "liberal media" bias, a large part of that media was/have been trying to "give him a chance" like his supporters always beg. He just doesn't seem interested, or capable of recognizing when he has a "chance" to earn respect. I know, at this point it is cliche', but how anyone can complain, with a straight face that Trump and his family have been treated poorly by the media, after the way the Obamas' were treated by the right-wing media for 8 years is beyond me. The difference is, Trump has put his family in the line of fire for criticism by giving them, as unqualified as they are (as he is) access to power that is unprecedented in a democracy. So many of the "liberal media" that he, you, and so many others complain about was ready to turn the page around the time of his State of the Union address, and his subsequent military action in Syria...some of his most ardent critics were saying things like "tonight, Donald Trump" became president" and other horse-**** like that. But, he is not a leader, he has no earthly idea how to lead people...his only way is to try to intimidate people. -

Sorry, I should have clarified...when I said "presumably intelligent people" I was referring to congressmen and senators. It is just painful (and shameful in my view) to listen to these people trying to sell whatever BS he is selling, when it is obvious they aren't even in agreement with him. Their "we have to win something" is outrageous. The GOP is showing an alarming lack of spine. I wasn't really referring to people on TSW. And, lets be honest, neither side of the aisle is exclusive to "raging hypocrisy". -

Its' also more embarrassing that otherwise presumably intelligent people are backing this guy, for no decent reason. Maybe embarrassing isn't the right word...shameful is probably more accurate. -

Bills 1964 and 1965 Championship Game films
Buftex replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Love this old stuff! I was born in 1965, so all the AFL Legends are before my time, but I feel like I know them as well as the 70's-1990's teams. The 21st Century Bills are kind of a blur! -

Gil Brandt's Top NFL RBs and QBs of All Time
Buftex replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure who I would take off the list, but not to include Aaron Rodgers (or Steve Young for that matter) on the QB list. Hell, I like Bret Favre better than Rodgers, but I would probably rank ARodg ahead of Favre at this point, as all time QB. -
Buffalo Bills top 50 plays during drought years (2000-2016)
Buftex replied to mileena's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't get me wrong, I loved Moulds....but he kind of frustrated me his last few seasons. After having that first monster year with Bledsoe, I kind of felt he started to work almost as hard at trying to get officials to throw flags, as he did trying to catch the ball. I just remember getting so frustrated as he would be yapping at the officials, almost while the ball was sailing over his head...seem like he kind of sloughed off in his later years. That is a great video...brings back a lot of great memories. Sad that I can remember specific games, plays and players from the 80's and 90's better than the blur that has become the 21st century Bills. There have been some moments...I'd probably put Sam Adams at #1, but I won't quibble. I was reminded too, how fantastic Bledsoe, Moulds and Price were in 2002. That pass TD in OT, Bledsoe to Price, against the Vikings (#4 on the list) was a real NFL QB kind of throw...the kind that not every QB can make. -

MSG Series: Top Tens in Bills' History

For me, personally, it is opening day, 1980 when the Bills broke the Dolphins curse...I was at the game. I was 15. It cemented my love for the Bills. I always liked them up to that point, but the Braves were my team...since they were gone, just looking for something to fill the void. The OJ years were great fun, but that game (or moreover the result, and the ensuing mayhem) was probably the most exciting sporting event I have ever been to. We had season tickets from 1980-1987 (picked a great time to get rid of them! ), so I never went to a Bills playoff game... Don't suppose anybody out there is able to record these shows for me, on DVD. I'll make it worth your while...PM me! -

Bills kicking tires on a 1 year deal for Fred Jackson...FWIW
Buftex replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe they are just doing this out of respect, with no real intent of him making the team. It seems like they are already kind of deep at the position. We all know, Pegula is pretty sentimental...give Freddie a small, but decent, final paycheck, to thank him for getting us through some dark times...I really can't see him making the final roster...he looked noticeably slower in Seattle. -

So, the guy had 25 carries, and your already deeming him a bust? -
No, Smerlas was cut. He held a huge grudge against Marv Levy afterwards. The Bills thought Jeff Wright could pick up the slack. Wright wasn't terrible, but he wasn't Smerlas...was a little too light. Smerals played two or three more seasons with the 49ers.

Whaley goes out with class. Buffalo Media...not so much.
Buftex replied to racecitybills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I get your point, but I think it is logical to assume, had Whaley actually been in charge of this past draft, he would have taken a QB early. -
Bills do a poor job of keeping draft picks on their roster.

It was embarrassing for the Buffalo News, I agree. They had an agenda. They don't have a good relationship with the owners, and all their old connections to the franchise are gone...so they beat up on Whaley. DM tried to get through that PC like most people in sports (except Rex Ryan perhaps) by talking in circles, and not revealing too much. If anyone should have taken heat for the press conference/press conferences (the Lynn PC was pretty bad too), it was ownership... not the guys who were sent out to the firing squad to take their bullets. These aren't elected officials, they are employees of a private company. Ownership, obviously, didn't want them revealing too much about what went down with the Ryan firing (it was their decision to hire and fire him, not Dough Whaley's)...honestly, if I had been Whaley in that PC I probably would have stood up and said "how old are you guys? You know I can't and won't tell you anything" If Whaley made a mistake with that PC, it was in staying at the microphone too long. We can quibble about how good or bad a GM he was, but I suspect that the Buffalo News complete ganging up on the guy after that PC kind of prompted ownership to fire him... after that, they wouldn't let him speak to the press, and hired PR people...they obviously were concerned about how that was perceived. -

I think the Buffalo News is/was biased against Whaley, not because the color of his skin, but because he just didn't give them anything. The Buffalo News, particularly under the new ownership, and the the loss of people like Larry Felser, just has no real foot in the door with the Bills (or the Sabres for that matter), and they kind of took it out on Whaely, in my opinion. I used to stick up and defend the BN sports staff all the time here...but I thought the way they treated Whaley during and after the infamous January press conference was disgraceful. Even Vic Carruci, sad to say, has lowered himself. Funny too, the young guy they had there for a season or two (Tyler Dunne?) seemed far more connected to the NFL than the BN hacks.
