  1. It's so funny..I can remember players, games and specific plays from those seasons, where as the recent years the games are pretty much a blur...I think I if I tried, I could remember where I was, and who was with me, when I watched each game.
  2. Chuck Knox era teams are still my favorites. That 1980 season (I was 15) was the first time in my lifetime where there was a feeling that the Bills could possibly win a championship. It didn't happen, obviously, but those 1980 and 1981 seasons were magic for me...really cemented my love for sports, and for the Bills. I didn't live in WNY for the Super Bowl years, or the Sabres 1999 Stanley Cup appearence...so the only thing I have to compare it with, was the Sabres Finals appearance in 1975...the whole city was transfixed on the Bills for those two years..it was before the internet, so there wasn't somebody there to crap all over everything, at every second...great memories. To this day, 4 of my all-time favorite Bills players are Ferguson, Butler Cribbs and Steve Freeman.
  3. I concur with those predicting 7-9. Of course, there is still a lot of offseason to go, so it could change. I see a sweep of the Jets (2), a split with Miami, and then wins over Denver, Cinicinnati, New Orleans and LA Chargers.
  4. Kinda bummed that they are playing at New England on Christmas Eve...I'd rather a game that we might be able to win to mark the holiday...
  5. I did here Bowman on GR a few times this season, he is still very on top of the NHL. He did, in one interview, mention that his biggest career regret was not getting the Sabres over the hump...
  6. At 52, my worst nightmare is that I die, never experiencing the joy of a Bills or Sabres championship season.
  7. Popular players, fan favorites over the years, who are still alive, and to my knowledge, have never "lead the charge": Lou Piccone Jerry Butler Leon "Dr Sack" Seals Mitch Frerotte Mark Pike Darrick Holmes Marcus Wiley Chris Spielman Sam Cowart Jay Riemersma Doug Flutie (though I am not a fan!) Eric Moulds Peerless Price Josh Reed (though I hear he hates Buffalo!)
  8. I seem to recall him pretty much being a douche while he was in Buffalo too.
  9. I would never accuse anything Vince Gilligan is involved with as being "too convenient and lazy". I thought it was a fine bit of writing. Howard was "that close" to talking Chuck out of pursuing the tape...Kim had told Saul (correctly) that Howard would never go to the client with the tape...but Saul couldn't leave well enough alone...and he kinda blew it for himself...
  10. Elephant's memory eh?
  11. Really digging the new Nikki Lane album, "Highway Queen". Kind of contemporary Loretta Lynn, with a little bit of Waylon and Willie attitude mixed in...also sounds like a slightly more country voiced Neko Case. Really good song-writer.
  12. Not sure...maybe KRC knows something about it. I remember reading about it somewhere...only ariticle I can find on line, quickly, is this from ProFootball Talk...Bills lost to the frigging' Hamilton Ti-Cats! http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/06/23/nfl-cfl-teams-used-to-meet-in-the-preseason/
  13. I think, back in the old AFL days (pre-merger) they used to play CFL teams in exhibition games.
  14. I'm hoping the Bills play the Bucs at home, in week 2 or 3. I'll be up there around then...I think it could be a great match-up. He may be a douche, but I think Jamies is going to be a very good QB.
  15. I think it is just an old hand-shake agreement between the Ford family and Ralph, which has carried over, so far. The Panthers, Redskins and Colts seem like pretty usual pre-season opponents for us too.
  16. I love Facebook for nostalgia and sharing of old photographs. Not necessarily personal photos, but just old musician photos, old magazine ads..old pin-ups...stuff like that. I used to spend a lot more time here, but I'm afraid Facebook stole away most of my internet down time. Honestly, I've tried Twitter, but it give me a headache looking at it...I guess I am old..I hate seeing the same poorly written thoughts re-posted 30 times...after a while, it is hard to keep track of who is saying what...
  17. I think the re-boot movies have gotten progressively worse with each one...Trek is a better concept for tv, IMO. That last movie was just terrible.
  18. Nice! Sonequa Martin-Green (sp? The chick who plays/played Sasha) is set to star in the lead female role of the new Star Trek Discovery television series. I like her...
  19. The Panthers, in Falcons colors is pretty sweet.
  20. The current Bills ownwership doesn't really have the connection to Simpson that Ralph did. Ralph didnt feel the need to honor him, after the murders, so neither should the Pegulas. When a new stadium is built, his name, along with the other names in the wall, should make the move too. I dont think there is any need to celebrate him, as tremendous as he was, any further than that. As time passes, his achievments, though no less impresssive, will mean less. When ESPN was airing the documentary last summer, I can't tell you how many people I know (granted it is in Texas) didn't realize OJ played for the Bills.
  21. The unifornms we have right now are the best! Red helmets, though representing our best years in the modern era, are fugly.
  22. I have been recording it and watching it during the week. The first week, they showed a fair amount of Bills/Ravens, the second week there was no Bills, because they played on Thursday night that week. Lots of Bills coverage from week 3 vs the Cardinals. Havent watched week 4 yet, but remember, this is only showing games from 1pm and 4pm on Sunday. It did occur to me, as they are condensing a out 6 and a half hours of broadcast time, down to 4 hours, they are likely editing out inconsequential highlights.
  23. Clements over Gilmore, any day.
  24. The Pegulas have already invested far too much money in the Bills, Sabres and the city of Buffalo to sell off the Bills.
