There is one downside to choosing Alabama against most other power 5 conference schools. The students, fans, and most especially, the powerful alumni, are used to the football program being the best(or at the very least being in the playoffs)...every single year. Tough to compete with that. Making the tourney, and getting bounced in the first two rounds, or even the sweet 16, isn't going to cut it.

I said this same thing when they did there surveys and had their little STH focus groups. They mean nothing. IMO...they have already decided what type of stadium they want, and where it will be. It's just waiting for an announcement at this point.

ILB is a big need. If Edmunds doesn't show significant progress in the run game, and at some point they decide to move him outside, they will need someone to step up to the plate. Who is his current backup? I'd spend a 4th round pick to address this.

Just my 2 cents. I think a retractable roof is a waste of money and not being considered, but a moderately priced domed stadium which is more in line with Minnesota and Indy, and not Jerry's World or Mercedes Dome, is probably going to end up being the answer.

I brought up both. They have a rink right across the street(Northtown Center) that could be used. Not sure what Canisius and Niagara have to do with UB starting up? If anything, it would be a great rivalry. That being said, I'm beating a dead horse. I've written several UB AD's about this over the years. Never going to happen.

Sal C was on WGR this morning rambling about how this type of play could be reviewed on the last play of the game(Hail Mary), and people would have to stand around for 5 minutes of a review before knowing if the game is over. The sight lines in the 100 level of the arena drive me crazy. I'd love to know from the design team, WTF they were thinking...especially coming from the Aud, where even the lower bowl was steep enough that you never had a problem seeing over the person in front of you.

Unless UB is ready to move up to the Big East, the coaches they have had(Reggie, Hurley and Oats) have taken them as far as they are going to go. They will have some good MAC seasons, and some mediocre ones, but that is what they will be as long as they are in the MAC.

With the youth programs in WNY and Southern Ontario, I've felt for years now that D-1 Lacrosse and Hockey are both no brainers. They have a rink across the street from the Amherst campus that is more than adequate until they build one of their own. Lacrosse is even easier. It can be played right on the football field. Yet here they are with neither.

Hahaha. The subway extension to Amherst is a long shot. To the airport and points East...never in our lifetime.

The good news is you can still do it after the downtown stadium is built...you just do it in your driveway. ?

I wish UB could find a coach who would be at the point in his career to be content as a Big Dog in the MAC. I expected Hurley to jump as soon as the opportunity arose, but I didn’t expect it from Oats. I wonder if the UB AD was blindsided by the news.

This is a never ending myth. How many players on the current roster have played in snow that has a significant effect on the game. There is no advantage for the Bills in a snow game. NONE. [edited]How is it that Indy(a dome team) came into RWS two years ago, and beat the Bills while the snow piled up quarter after quarter?

You don't think that there is OPI or DPI that can't be called on every single pass play? Same as holding going on in the trenches on every play. Yet, how many penalties do you see of this variety in a game with 125-150 snaps?

I know nothing about this woman, but seems like a very odd choice. Use an alumni, use a fan(like last year with Pancho Billa), but a political figure froma neighboring city? Very very strange.

I don't like it at all. If they are going to review a pass play and follow the OPI and DPI rules word for word, you could throw a flag on any long throw, and they will see DPI or OPI. It will be more agonizing frame by frame super slo-mo replays of a DB who touches the WR, therefore it is DPI....or vice versa.

Building a downtown fixed roof stadium is a no brainer. The vast majority(especially those who take clients to games or people with a lot of disposable income) don't want to sit in the ***** weather of November and December where you can get anything from 40 and rain to raging snowstorms and single digit temps.
