Where would Rousseau have gone had he played? [in college in 2020]
The Dean replied to whorlnut's topic in The Stadium Wall
While we'll never know, I believe the real beginning of the ascent of Allen was during the Senior Bowl week, where scouts and coached really noticed his special physical gifts. That's my recollection anyway, He started becoming "a thing" well after his final season at Wyoming. I agree completely. What I was saying is IF he performed to the level he had the previous year, and/or how he looks to be performing now, I'd guessing he'd have gone pretty damn high. With a down year, his draft status may have suffered. -
That's one reason why you try to extend him before he goes FA. He obviously didn't attract much attention last year. Plus, he might actually realize this is a perfect system, and team, for him to excel. I don't think Buffalo should screw him either, as he knows the system and has played at a pretty high level within it.

Good to know. For the most part, this seems like a team of High Character guys. -
It's the NFL EVERY player has to be paid. No Moon's post is absurd as it reads. You don't pay Robin Batman money, but you still pay him.

I've been very impressed with him, so far. And even though Basham hasn't played much, when he has he's made some plays as well. Love the rookies so far. -
So Robin works for free? Seriously? I'm guessing Wallace would be amendable to a reasonable #2 CB contract. If not, then of course you don't overspend to sign him. But I'm thinking they can get him on a 2-3 year deal, and draft a CB to eventually take his place.

If he performed to the level he performed the year before, or to the level he is performing now, I'd say "pretty damn high". Allen barely played his first year at Wyoming. He had a better statistical year in his second year than in his last, that's for sure. But no, I don't think he would have gone higher than the 7th pick in the first round in any earlier year. -
For those of you who are unaware, The Senator died on Sunday, September 26th, before kickoff. I believe he is rooting the team on from wherever his consciousness has relocated.

Well, one might argue the term Indian is a bit racist, but actually just probably more on the stupid side. But it isn't as clearly racist as "Redskin", IMO. I'd agree Braves isn't in the same league at all. Then again, I'm not a native American. I think if you want to know if a term is offensive to a group, you ask the people in those groups. Still, I have to wonder why, a group of European Americans would chose to use a name completely removed from their culture/heritage. I'm guessing there were/are far more Irish people involved with Notre Dame sports than their Native Americans on any of the teams which borrow from their culture. I'm guessing a team called the Cowboys, from Texas, Oklahoma, etc, probably has had more than a few actual cowboys involved in their organization. Plus I don't think cowboys find the term Cowboy even remotely offensive. Finally, one can recognize something as likely "offense" without taking offense to it. How often do you think the term "Redskin" has ever been used in a complimentary fashion, not including when it refers to a sports team? Or even including them, for that matter.

You could? I couldn't.

I have, on two different occasions, injured myself watching the game on TV. Sprained an ankle while lying on the couch the first time. Then pulled a calf muscle in my recliner another time. I watch HARD! Just another sports-related injury. Fortunately I escaped unscathed today.

With the Bills up early, but the team committing stupid penalties and getting into shoving matches and such, I texted a friend, McD needs to get this team calmed down and focused. They were over-hyped. He seemed to do that in spades. I thought it was, overall, a masterful coaching effort by all involved.

This is from the Motel 6 across the street. -
A buddy gave me a couple copies of some recent issues. Actually some terrific, in depth articles that were very good. I agree it's relatively useless for timely sports info. Most of the traditional magazines are, these days.

Nobody knows. Can't find a forecast. Nobody knows. Can't find a forecast. Side note: I always like The Weather Outside on WKBW. I know people say it's a meaningless stunt and being outside doesn't help the forecast. But if you are inside telling people it won't rain, when it is actually raining outside, you look kinda stupid, IMO. At least if you are outside, you can say, "well it's obviously raining"!

How one perceives the behavior of a fan base is very subjective. Not only do your feelings/attitude/etc impact it, it also varies by what fans you happen to come into contact with. As I kept getting better/bigger jobs, I moved around a bit in the 90s. My experience is that Bills fans strutted a bit more than in the past (who can blame them) and yes, some were idiots. I suspect if you were in WNY the entire time, you saw more Bills fans and, therefore, saw more obnoxious Bills fans. Social media was more or less non-existent then, so I'm guessing if it happened today, the fans would seem to be much worse, as of course we are expected to just be moronic idiots online every day. People are meaner/crueler online, obviously. Just take a peek at this forum---and this thread. The biggest transformation of a fan base, IMO, as been with the Pats* fans. I lived in the Boston area in the late 80s. It seemed like most of them were NY Giants fans. It was very easy to get a ticket to a game there. I saw very few, if any, Pats* flags flying from cars or in front of houses. Saw a lot of Giants flags, though. I suppose it's somewhat understandable given their amazing success for such a long time. But I consider their fan base to be fairly weak overall. When they hit a losing streak, I suspect many of those fans will disappear. OTOH, Steeler fans also can be a bit unbearable. But they always seemed like real fans to me. And I've never had an issue dealing with them.

Yes, I'd agree "the rain gives the Bills an advantage" isn't probably the best take. But is going by what happened "last year" much better? I'd argue both teams look to be different than last year's models. KC already dropped two games and hasn't looked that impressive so far. How about we just let the game play out?
