This is what concerns me with a new Bills stadium as so many owners do PSL’s for a new stadium, and many pay it as the team may be doing well, and eventually they default and plan goes away when the team is not doing well, or the economy turns negative. An example is I can’t remember the year, but when Ray Jay in Tampa was built blowing up the Sombrero, one year PSL’s started and was a 10 year investment. At the conclusion of those 10 years, that money would be attributed to the cost of season tickets. This was during the Dungy/Gruden years, and as the economy turned in 2008, and the team was going south, people gave up their PSL’s in droves. Normally Tampa fairs well economically given the increased industry and very low to nothing in corporate taxes trying to get companies to relocate South, and across FL, it worked with low unemployment, but as we all know 2008 hit everyone and hard. Im not trying to make this a political economic strategy, but just giving one of the reasons the PSL’s went from a huge Poster the size of Ray Jay promoting a wait list of 80,000 for PSL’s to them discontinuing the program after people left in droves. They have been at an all time low for years in season tickets without the PSL’s. My concern is for my Buffalo friends who live there and have seasons don’t get out priced with these PSL’s. I just can’t see that working in Buffalo, but many teams building stadiums do it, and even without PSL’s, you can be assured as many are concerned those prices will go up. I love flying up with the kids and with adult family and friends going to two games which is not cheap. I hope I didn’t take this sideways, I just read that article and all I could think about is the impact on Buffalo in two years.

Flutie talking Bills and Allen
machine gun kelly replied to sunshynman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, he did talk about himself as he always has done, but if you listen to the non stop interviews on NFLR, all of these guests are pushing something, and then they make some comments on these two teams. He was basically interviewed about Buffalo and I thought was extremely positive about the fans, and he is right. I didn’t mind the interview at all, and yes, I remember vividly all of the controversy stuff back in the day with the QB lobbying etc. -
The points in this thread which is what I think he was trying to promote is how much this coaching staf has developed these players so well and get the most out of them. On that point, I appreciate you’re sentiments. There are too many other points in this thread to discuss. It’s going in several different directions, and that is ok. That’s why it’s a message board. I enjoyed the reading though. One last thing is I know it’s a long time to September, but excited to what we do in this off season and put together for the fall. Go Bill!

Agreed. I love those old songs. Every once in awhile you get the fix on you tube, and yes, the autumn wind is the best, am no not crazy about the Raiders either. I really just don’t care about them.

So, Josh Allen threw a fan through a table

This had the be for a charity thing, and they probably made some kind of precautions so the guy wouldn’t get hurt. I hear you though Hapless as it’s not like we look nationwide as a classy fan base and it’s only a small % of people, usually young drunk guys which I remember those dumb days. -
It’s hard to think of Brees retiring, whereas Brady, and Rivers have lost a step (that’s not a knock on them, but Father Time always wins). I just keep thinking he has unfinished business when he didn’t make it to the SB the last three years, but was close. He has a great team around him, and if he came back, he’d still be on a mission. If he retires, I just don’t know why they wouldn’t choose Bridgewater to carry the torch. He may not be Brees, but who is Brees. Hill was just not impressive.

Cody, funny as that was my gut reaction with McGahee. The OP asked why. He was given a chance and taken in the 1st round after having that horrible knee injury in the Bowl game, doesn’t play for a year, and then did contribute, but tried so hard to get out. Then repeatedly trashes Buffalo, the city, not just the team. He has absolutely no appreciation for the risk Donahue took choosing him in the 1st, when no one would have even drafted him. I personally thought he lost his mind taking him in the first, and proves why were in hell that decade. One bad decision after another.

This is much ado about nothing. Make the playoffs next year, and we are 3-4 yrs. anyone would want to be part of it. As someone said, they’re only here during the season, until they realize how special Buffalo is as a place. We keep winning and people will come. I know Breen Bay was brought up, but you guys know how god awful cold KC is in the winter, and there isn’t that much to do there. I’ve been there so many time for work, and it’s a nice small city, but it’s not NYC, or Miami. If you take that logic, why isn’t everyone on the planet wanting to go to Jax, Miami, Tampa, LA, SF, and so on. This is a job for these guys. They want a fair compensation, but a city eventually will make them love them.

I agree Coach, and if I misrepresented myself as I respect you, I apologize. I couldn’t agree more with the microphone and other venues are trying to pressure everyone. I just believe the Pegulas can handle that pressure and will do what ever is given to them. I remember previous news outside of football the Pegulas dealt with a ton of pressure on the fracking thing in PA and CO. I’m not worried about it at all and that is not naive. I’ve just been through way to many multi million $ negotiations with my people and how each side tried to stares each other down.
-
Last thing, do you really think Terry Pegula has not stared down top level negotiations with strong position, and more specifically, people know one of his businesses in Fracking is controversial. I’m not proposing an opinion, but not the first time those two have faced pressure. I’m not worried about anything as it’s 2020 guys as you know. We’re talking about two to three years away. Does anyone actually think they are not having not only back channel conversations with the state and local govt, but also the NFL. I’ll put my $ on the balls of the Pegulas.
-
Coach, Goodell does not nor do the owners have the authority to force a move. There is a contract in terms of revenue sharing. They have no power other than the microphone. Do you not think the Pegulas, the Forbes whenever you see the estimates, the 5th to 7th wealthiest owners in the league which is biased as Jerrah would have to sell the team to have the money the Pegulas make each year. Same with Kraft. The Allen family, Ross, Khan, and the Rams owners as well as the Glazers in Tampa. These owners have so much money not from the NFL.
-
Exactly, some people don’t seem to realize, he has zero power over the Pegulas. They will do what they want for their team! He reports to the owners, not the other way around. He is nothing more than an employee who reports to his stockholders ( the owners). No matter how many other owners want the Pegulas to have a new stadium built, it’s their $ and they can stick to a 2022 or 2023 plan which is almost certain. Last time I checked Lambaugh, Soldier, and Arrowhead did nothing but upgrade their stadiums and there wasn’t a damn thing ( sorry mods) Goodell can do about it. We will most likely have a new stadium after the contract is up as this conversation has been discussed so many times, but no one can force them to move, build a stadium and break a state contract, or anything else for that matter. It’s really that simple. As many of us has said, we probably will have a Lincoln type stadium from Indy downtown around the first ward near the B News bld. It makes the most sense as the land should be economical, really close to everything else the Pegulas are doing downtown, and make it a really nice complex.

Texans name Bill O’Brien as GM

Well, at least we don’t need to worry about them in the future. What a dumb move, but it’s their owner’s to make. -
