  1. I can go either way, but there is an implication of Allen’s deal. Now you can kick the can for one year with the tag for him so three more years, but that 30+ mil contract is coming. If we can sweeten by a higher than normal guarantee, but now you’ve space out the two big contracts coming and some mid level one like Milano. We also if not wrong have Poyer and Hyde in two years, so another to consider to keep the best of this band together. I think it’s a smart move if it can be agreeable to his camp. Guaranteed $ as you know is so important they know for sure they’ve taken care of their families no matter what. Because he’s so young, a five year deal would be optimal. Just stuff to kick around in the drought period of NFL season.
  2. And a younger stud like Hooper out of Atlanta. I can acquiesce which is why I wanted to prompt the discussion. Yeldon is extendible if we still want DiMarco for FB packages, and better TE in that scenario to pound it in the tough yard situations it with drafting a Carson like from Seattle. I never mentioned with this incredibly deep WR and a solid edge rusher class, to pick up one to two guys depending if we want Lawson back. So to Mango’s point, these are upgrades with the exception of Olsen, better than the injury prone Kroft. If you had to let an edge rusher go thinking you can only get one in the draft, then we still have Hughes and Lawson is in a rotation with a new young stud. I never brought up as they are officially on the team, but not on Spotrac for some reason with McKenzie and Foster. Foster is a given to be cut, and McKenzie is great with those end around, etc, but rather a take it off the top Wr as well as a possession guy. We of course keep Brown and Beasley, two new guys with real talent and Williams. Roberts is too important in the return game. I started is to get the dissent and new ideas, and the $ frees up to maybe keep Lawson and J. Phillips. So have at it as you have my thoughts.
  3. Good Morning Gentleman and ladies. So like others I love Spotrac, especially that tool that takes everything into account and changes cap totals and impact on available $. So this one option, but feel free to do you’re own as I value you’re opinions. Current cap availability, $82,824,551. Potentially Released: 1. Trent Murphy - LB 2. Tyler Kroft - TE 3. Lee Smith - TE 4. TJ Yeldon - RB 5. Tommy Sweeney - TE Results would be an additional $9,249,408, resulting in cap space of $91,053,959. Possible solutions are to add two TE’s in FA, reasoning Edge Rushers and WR will eat up too much cap in FA. In addition, we can easily replace a RB in the draft. It’s obvious on the rest as far as the draft with WR’s and Edge Rushers. Lastly, if J. Phillips is willing to get closer to his Spotrac value of just over $6 mil even if we went to $7 mil, with H Phillips coming back our interior is set. Thoughts or other releases and solutions if you were Beane? Mods, I checked the search tool and didn’t see anything similar.
  4. Or b/c they were just in the SB, but I know what you and others are saying. I’m happy for Stevie. He was fun to watch ona bad Buffalo Bills team.
  5. well, consider he had 18 yards a catch last year, and consider who was throwing to him with Winston. I’ve watched him since UCF as they are on all the time down here. I would take a chance him for the right price. So many people bring up we need a relatively fast tall WR who can jump up and catch the contested ball. Well he can do that, and Allen would love throwing to him. If they take him you might as well say goodbye to McKenzie and Foster, because there is no way we also don’t take one in the draft.
  6. Slim, the only one I can remember was Ritchie. He gave us three solid years.
  7. Sounds like a fair deal for both sides, and I’m not saying he’s Aaron Donald, but he plays a role in this defense. Him clogging up middle is his job. That is why I never understood the vitriol by a minority of posters. Not calling anyone out, to me his role is also meant to Oliver, maybe J Phillips if we can figure out something to penetrate.
  8. “Danger Will Robinson, Danger”! Only middle aged guys up even know what I’m talking about which is not being hard on the younger guys. Seriously though, I could see for the right contract, maybe AJ Green, but doubt this would happen. If anyone wanted to take a chance on a guy with a weed issue, I wouldn’t do it until the new CBA as they are either taking that away, or raise positive threshold so high players would never get for it. Now is too risky. Stampede, you crack me up at times. Good post.
  9. Corta and Ethan, I couldn’t agree more. It is somewhat myopic, if we had a great game coming up, and I fly all three kids, request vacation time for Friday and Monday morning. I’m giving an example, but I’m sure there a ton more where it is significantly unfair for out of Towners, or even Buffalonians who may have to get up at 5 am for their jobs. That would stink. Owners, players and the NFL are going to make more than enough $ with an expanded schedule, which seems more and more like it might happen, and Direct TV loses exclusivity for streaming. I can’t remember how many fans started a short thread of “Do any of you guys will show the Bills game in what European city, or just OUS.
  10. Ferg’s, thanks for the laugh. A bull? I’ll say one which is this will go over like a fart in Church with all of the various animal rights groups. Oh, but A for effort and creativity.
  11. Sims comments were pretty obvious, but surprised he didn’t talk about a serious upgrade at TE in FA, and focus on the draft for this incredibly deep pool of WR’s coming out. I don’t like the everything Florio says, but remark on the draft first, then FA is interesting and made sense to me.
  12. Hapless, has he punched a horse yet? Love blazing saddles. Classic. Thx for sharing. As an aside, I think Feliciano was our best O Lineman pick up last year. I know it’s easy to say Morse, but for the $ he was a great deal.
  13. Agreed on Norman, but not the rest. Why pay more $ for a 30+ RB, instead of just draft one and if good you have you’re backfield for years. We’ve already gone down that road with Gore who flamed out with each month in 2019.
  14. Well, I don’t care about wives and girlfriends pics in bathing suits, but it is stupid they would make it on PFF. I agree it is a sin Tre didn’t make the list, but look at the bright side. If this even slightly annoys him, he’ll have bulletin board material for himself. As far as PFF, I just don’t go to their site ever as they seem to repeatedly make foolish statements about so many players and teams. The only way I even know anything on their site other than a long time ago reading it, I now only see what they post when you guys place in a thread. This was a good laugh, and really shows their colors.
  15. I don’t see him moving. He’ll want a two year deal, but Kraft will want the option to move on in one year. They probably would give more guaranteed $ to sweeten the deal, but want the overall contract to be less than the $35 mil others are getting in their prime. I understand the thoughts of possible teams, but he would only want to go if he received a nice deal, and a solid defense, O Line, and some weapons. Who meets that to me is TN. Great running game, some weapons, decent line, and a solid defense. Lastly, he and Vrabel have been reported to be good friends from their playing days together. The thing about Vrabel is he was under Belicheck as a player, he knows how they used Brady. For those who said retire, you’re right. My wild speculation and this is not because he’s beaten us for twenty years, that his play will diminish quickly this year even if he stays in NE.
  16. Hapless, has he punched a horse yet? Love blazing saddles. Classic. Thx for sharing.
  17. Hapless, you make a good point on LG for Ford, and like the idea of letting Spain test the market, and pay him solid back up $. I also think Nsekhe was good when he play3d, but we need depth at RT, as Nsekhe unfortunately had had a number of injuries.
  18. Well, there is the argument he was a rookie, but then again he would probably shine more at one fo the two guard positions. You do that, and Feliciano is staying so maybe they move into Spain’s spot. Not that is my interest, as I like Spain, but then as you’ve said RT is the question.
  19. Im sorry, I forget in the previous post Beane isn’t dumb and knows he’ll need breathing room for the next two years to cover White next year as he’ll demand probably $17-18 mil. Even if we save some cap and tag Allen after his rookie contract that does two things; first Allen we have then 5 years to evaluate if he’s our guy ( I think he could be ), and we have more a time to stockpile cash for these two. Just look at Winston in Tampa, and Mariotta in TN, and if Arians had any other options, he would cut Winston, and Marriotta already lost his starting job. My apologizes, as I’m not a rookie to this board and should have placed everything in one post. Sorry guys.
  20. I’m unclear on these choices. No on AB, D. Johnson ( love the guy and followed his career, but he has become injury prone and we can easily get a RB in the draft ), Dalton, and only Olsen if his requests are reasonable for his age. I would take a run at Hooper from ATL. The rest of our needs can be addressed in the draft, and you extend people we want to keep like Spain. Keeping an O Line together will only serve as a positive, as sometimes it takes a year for the line to work well as a unit. They have to be smart in their spending, extend the ones we want at that price, only get a targeted maybe two targets and drop the ones on our team like Kroft, Sweeney, and Smith. I seriously doubt we give extensions to Lawson and J. Phillips as they are not worth what they will be trying to get in the market. Now, if everyone passes on these two, and they are willing expect reasonable contracts, then sure extend them. J. Phillips will want more than 6 mil. ( his perspective worth from the Spotrac guys ).
  21. ADog, I don’t know about you, but I watched the SB with my sons and we kept remarking how off Mahomes was in that game. One of my sons stated Allen threw better than Mahomes tonight.
  22. Those projects have so much space, right near where the Buffalo News building sits. Good points on the spacing. Hotels, restaurants, pubs and so on. I would bet it would only be 65,000 seats like most stadiums these days. There is less wind downtown, and less snow. When I worked my college job at the News, I remember driving and right after the skyway, I can’t tell you how many times, I would over the Father Baker, and it would be a wall of snow. The Pegulas could build a bunch of these hotels and restaurants, etc. as another revenue stream.
  23. Zero, all good points, and I would add to a great post from you the MTC guys two years ago, for 6 years, and a seventh wildcard team would 95% of the time at least 8-8, and more likely 9-7. Drop two of the pre-season games, and if you need more time to evaluate during pre-season, you just get a competitive practice between two teams for several days, and a scrimmage. That should keep players, coaches and fans happy. Otherwise, I like you’re take, and not sure if they would do a second bye, but maybe and dress all 53, and if they have injuries you bring up practice squad guys or bring someone in off the streets. After week 1 they have no guaranteed contract.
  24. BB my powerlifting buddy, I’m just guessing they play him each pre-season to get as much game experience possible, and then do what you wrote in two years. If he hasn’t learned the NFL after three years, he never will.
