  1. I always like him when he was playing for the Buffalo Braves. Of course, I know we are speaking of another Bob McAdoo (the other one works for the Heat).
  2. Good move if true. I hope St. Doug approves.
  3. I am not sure what you mean by "holding back." Marrone got him a job as an OC in the NFL and he was paid handsomely for it. Coordinators disagree with HCs all the time - just as employees do with employers. It is easy (from the outside looking in) to say he should have been more of a man etc.
  4. Given that Marrone was the head coach, I am not sure what Hackett could do (other than resign as OC).
  5. That would be great if this is the case. As an aside, I read the following SI article yesterday while doing some reasearch regarding Sexton. Interesting guy. In any event, one of the themes of the article (perhaps puff piece) is how he tries to maintain a good relationship with "management." It will be interesting to see whether and how this episode effects his relationship with the Bills. As an aside, I think that Sexton also represents Schwartz. http://www.si.com/college-football/2014/01/03/jimmy-sexton-college-football
  6. I hope that the Jets realize this and Marrone's plan is f*@!ed.
  7. I agree with that. I have a feeling that the Jets may have gotten (or are getting) cold feet because of that, potential tampering, and the other things that they are finding out about St. Doug. I also think that a lot of Jets fan will end up saying: "We fired Rex for this?!?" if the Jets hire Marrone. There are so many other guys that the Jets could hire that, not only would be better, but would avoid all of the crap above.
  8. I agree. AJ Smith has a huge ego and a history of not getting along with coaches - especially a coach he did not hire. He and Marrone would have had a fist fight.
  9. I was thinking this as well when I was listening to the Fred Jackson interview this morning. These guys are under contract. It would keep some continuity. It also would screw over Marrone if, by chance, he were to land the Jets job. In the meantime, I am stilll hoping that the Jets hire someone else and Marrone never gets another HC job in the NFL. I defended the guy until I received the text from the Bills notifying us that he had opted out. He is trying to screw over the organization now. I would hate to see him be able to double dip on the $4 million.
  10. I love Sammy and am glad he plays for the Bills even though I am on record since the draft ( unlike Marrone) that the Bills paid above the market to trade up. Having said that, I have a VERY hard time believing that Whaley and (by extension) Brandon would have completed the that trade if Marrone was so adamantly against the trade that he stormed out/walked out.
  11. Please keep in mind that Sully seems to have had an axe to grind regarding the Pegulas for a long time. Sully's columns always fit his narrative. In evaluating his columns, ask yourselves: Whether the Pegulas (who have transformed Buffalo) or Sully is over their head? This is the same Sully who failed miserably in taking a shot at Sammy yesterday. This is the same Sully who took every shot he could at Mario (refrigerator) and Marcel until even he had to stop. As an aside, when I opened the News site on my iPad earlier today and saw the headlines for the Pegula article and the Marcel article, I knew before opening each that Sully wrote the Pegula article and Vic probably wrote the Marcel article. To paraphrase other posters' comments about certain potential HCs, the game has passed Sully by - about 25 years ago.
  12. Sammy calling out Sully lessons the pain of not having a first round pick in the upcoming draft.
  13. Well said. As I wrote in another post, if the Jets get cold feet and leave him at the alter, Marrone may never be a HC in the NFL again. That would serve him and Sexton right for overplaying their hand.. I would hate for him to double dip as well. St. Doug may well have coached his last game as a HC in the NFL.
  14. I really don't want him to play us again. I also seem to recall hearing that his wife had no interest in moving to Buffalo the last time around. I have no idea whether that is true. Nevertheless, I would rather have many other coaches before him.
  15. I have defended Marrone and do think that much of the media criticism during the season was over the top and myopic. Having said all that, I cannot stand the way Marrone and Sexton have tried to spin it AND try to hurt the organization that gave him his big break. Brandon must feel betrayed as well. I hope that the Jets get cold feet and leave him at the alter. If Marrone does not get the Jets HC job, there is a good chance Marrone will never be a HC in the NFL ever again.
  16. Cowher is a proven leader. I would not be disappointed at all. He also is the kind of guy for whom Schwartz presumably would be willing to work - as opposed to some unproven coordinator or college HC. Cowher also would attract FAs.
  17. I defended him until yesterday.
  18. Should not be an either/or situation.
  19. Didn't he play us last time?
  20. Julius Thomas would be a nice addition.
  21. I remember telling my friend as the play was happening: "Don't worry. The refs are going to call this back."
  22. This. As an aside, I remember Sully wrote a column suggesting that the Pegulas were lucky etc. We all should be so lucky.
  23. There is a lot of truth in what you wrote.
