  1. Saban - national championships
  2. Another thing makes NO sense: Polian supposedly not joining Bills because Marrone ripped organization. This is the same Marrone who just yesterday was trying to leverage an extension with the same organization that he now is ripping?!?
  3. I do not know what to believe. December 31 - reports that Marrone opted out because he was afraid of football czar - i.e Polian. January 1 - reports that Polian had a change of heart because Marrone left. One of the above might make sense, but not BOTH.
  4. Why would Marrone be afraid of Polian (who has complimented him)? Sounds like agent spin to me.
  5. There are certainly more Buckys and Sullys in NYC.
  6. Schwartz did a great job. Having said that, just as I think HC of the Buffalo Bills is a very attractive position, being DC of the Bills has got to be a very attractive position as well with the talent that we have on defense.
  7. I think that there is some truth that he got sick and tired of some in the Buffalo media. I know I am. I also think that the Jets let him or his agent know that he could go "home" to the NYC area.
  8. He is at least $4 million richer than each of the guys complaining incessantly that he did not go for it on fourth down.
  9. The only people more thin skinned that Doug Marrone are several members of the Buffalo media.
  10. Some people thought that Hacket was that guy. I recall that, when he was hired, some here were worried that we might lose him after his first year. It is so hard to tell whether any of these guys who have never been head coaches and are the new flavor of the month (whether college HC or coordinator) will ever be a good HC.
  11. The keyboard jockeys probably wrote that the game had passed him by when the Rams hired him.
  12. Is December 31 St. Doug day forever more in Buffalo Bills history?
  13. I think that there is a three day return policy.
  14. I have my preferences, but I have to believe that with the Pegulas as owners, Polian possibly coming on board, and the current state of talent on the team, the position of head coach of the Buffalo Bills would have to be very attractive to any elite candidate.
  15. Funny Gregg Easterbrook tweet: Gregg Easterbrook @EasterbrookG · 4h4 hours ago Monday: Doug Marrone complains that Kyle Orton leaves without warning. Wednesday, Marrone leaves without warning.
  16. The only criteria that the guys on WR and most of the rest of the Buffalo media will be fixated on is whether the potential new head coaches go for it on fourth down.
  17. If I were the new head coach of the Bills, I would want to keep the continuity on defense. If it is not broken, there is not reason to "fix" it.
  18. I do not think that Marrone is a bad coach and did not think that the Bills should fire him. He quit - for whatever reason. We saw how that worked out for Mularkey. If the Jets think that Marrone is a better coach than Rex, they can have him. I would trade Marrone for Rex and would consider Rex an upgrade.
  19. As one of the above posters mentioned above: assistant coaches who have ridden the coattails of future hall of fame QBs. I also am wary the new flavor of the month in college football. As an aside, I also am tired of reading posts from posters (who have never had any position in the NFL in their lives) who post: "the game has passed him by."
  20. It probably would not happen, but I would not be against it either. It would be a good bookend. He was the last coach to take us to the playoffs and we are on the cusp of the playoffs. He never should have left in the first place. As I recall people were fixated on the fact that he did not wear a headset while the Bills HC. Wade is a great guy. He was a neighbor of friends of ours (Trivia: lived on the same street as Scotty Bowman).
  21. I agree with most of what the OP wrote.
  22. You are correct about him being direct and open initially. They did go after him. He should not have quit, but the Buffalo media went way over board -- especially with the whole 4th down thing.
  23. The single minded focus on whether to go for it on 4th down by several in the Buffalo media was myopic.
  24. I don't like the fact that he bailed on us. Having said that, the Buffalo media was overly harsh with him. He was much more open in 2013 until he felt he had been burned. This past year, he was a bit of a grump and closed off.
