Did I miss the sarcasm smilie ? or do you really think this is "the coach" ? -
Exactly...
-
Agreed, along with an issue or 2 at QB at the time....
-
That's very "big picture" of you.

If Miami were wise, they would consider developing an NFL caliber offensive line before they entertain more pipe dreams (no pun intended ) of all star running backs.

He backed off already. You must have me on ignore or something

Granted

You beat me to the punch I'll resist the urge here to bring up Va's use of "reason" to discuss the 40 times of various NFL rb's ... Seriously though I think it could be an interesting experiment as well with Gore. We wouldn't be putting alot of risk into the pick if a lower rounder is used. Gore was indeed impressive before the injury bug hit him. At one point many expected him to surpass McGahee's production at the U. One thing I heard at one point but was not sure if it was true was that Gore and Willis didn't get along very well. I wonder if there is anything to that?....

If you're talking about Zach like 4 years ago you might have the beginning of an argument. Fact is , TKO can shed blocks better due to his superior strength, he covers better, blitzes better, is faster and makes more plays than Zach (fumbles, INT's, Sacks, 3rd down stops). They are probably equals in tackling and the amount of study they put into the game. Honestly though, you'd have to see TKO at MLB to really compare the two.

Takeo is twice the player that Zach is. Surely (shirley) you can't be serious...

Very good point here. Of course the offer is going to start out low. And in all honesty, that's really not too shabby of an offer that was made to PW. It also shows patience and financial responsibility by TD. It's not quite the New England hardball approach but it shows some firmness. Players that come here most times get paid what they're worth.

Pat Williams was in a contract year

I agree with you there, but it's also my belief that it's agent posturing and won't be refelected in the final contact he ends up getting. If indeed he (they) stubbornly stay at the 5 mil figure, then we indeed should not re-sign PW. -

Well said. -
I remember the package. I only wish it had been used more often at the time, and sooner in their careers.

Wrong. He played his role in the defense to perfection this past season. It's not up to the Bills organization to point out to each fan what a players role is on the team, so those that don't see it on their own at times may be confused by a player's apparent production. This is especially true with linemen on both sides of the ball. It's understandable too because most fans need some sort of statistical measuring stick like something said player does with the football to judge for themselves how he plays. -
Mike, I respect your opinions very much but I have to strongly disagree here. I don't see Sam double teamed on every play as you say. I see teams do variations of things against both of them. PW was given more of a plugger role in the defenseive scheme this year and "ate up" blockers very well. His role was not to penetrate the line nealry as much as the year before. Pat has played well beside both good players AND complete garbage during his tenure here. In 2003 he had a far superior year than Sam Adams had. While playing with big Ted, it was very infrequent that you'd find both of them on the field together. Ted came off on sure passing downs and that's where Pat had to make his name I do agree that he doesn't deserve "Elite" money but deserves fair market value.

It's as is some of you have never witnessed player/agent/GM posturing through the media before. Everything in print is taken literally

Yeah right. Draft Wilfork last year and we have a QB or WR problem right now. If you're going to respond to my post atleast read what I had to say. It's obvious that many in this thread (besides Rico) did not. -

Many of us are quite aware of what TD typically does. I am in full support of TD and have been during his time here. Nowhere am I saying sign him for 5 mil. As I said, this may be just the beginning of negotiations. -

Whoah... I wouldn't sign him for 5 mil per year either BGIM. I see now that you are taking the little agent media plant literally. That is merely the upper end or ceiling of negotiations as I am seeing it. Very typical posturing that goes on amongst all agents worth their salt. -

Probably not back breaking no, but remember all I'm saying is offer him what he's worth. I agree not to overpay for him. I like Edwards too but really only as a pass rusher. He has not proven to be nearly as capable as a run stopper, and especially not as capable as Pat. As I see it the difference would probably amount to the Bills giving up somewhere around .4 more yards per carry and probably 15 to 20 more yards per game on the ground. They may benefit with Edwards in getting a bit more pressure up the middle on passing plays and 3 or 4 additional sacks for the season. Pat also, like Moulds, is a player who likes Buffalo, is established here, has been loyal to the organization, and has stated he is willing to give the team the "hometown discount" when it comes time to talk turkey. -
(OT) Anyone really follow Syracuse BB?

I watch all SU games and am an alum. Pace is (as mentioned) a good college player, but not cut out for the Pros. I will say though that Pace is a very hard worker, lays his body on the floor when he has to...Fills up the stat sheet with rebounds, assists, a few steals, a fair amount of points, and has excellent touch from 6' to 12' out. He is a decent but not a special distributor of the ball. He is a terrible foul shooter and long range shooter. Though he does not turn the ball over nearly as much as mentioned earlier and has actually played much more within the offense this season than Gmac has. Gmac has cost the cuse atleast 2 games this season by foolishly putting up long desperate shots early on in the shot clock without any attempt to run the offense ( And I love Gmac but it is what it is). Gmac has also taken some peculiar stretches in games (particularly second halves) where he has seemingly forgotton to get Warrick's hands on the rock. -

Folks are right that they can't overpay for Pat, but they would be foolish not to give him what he is worth. If he is willing to come fairly and the Bills still ignore this, it should be considered a mistake IMO. Pat is the rock that makes the whole defense work at it's peak. There is no player currently under contract that would come near his production value lined up next to big Sam. -
While it should be apparent to even the somewhat casual fan that Jennings is indeed a superior player to Shelton, there are two factors that make this potentially a good move. 1- JJ's injury history 2- LJ will come at a much better price as JJ will require an inflated signing bonus.
