At this stage of my age and football experience, there is little to nothing that the Collinsworths and Romos of the world can add to my understanding of the game. What I can’t stand though, is the weather vane narratives throughout the broadcast.

It’s been over two months since we lost Hodgins. Where was all the protest when it happened? When we were being decimated by injuries and forced to carry other players at other positions on the active roster instead of another receiver? I am genuinely happy for the kid that he is getting his shot and taking advantage.

I got the feeling Baltimore conceded Chase and dared Cinci to beat them with anybody else. Good observation about stopping their run game, too. That is paramount.

Watch that play again. There was no scrambling, Josh stepped up in a crowded pocket and launched it. It wasn't something they improvised like last week against the Pats***. Allen didn’t get enough on the throw.

3.9 yards per pass, 2.1 yards per rush, 3.3 yards per play. Few defenses in the history of the league have dominated a game like that in any game, let alone a playoff game. We tend to focus on the numerous third and very long situations our D gives up and we lose sight of what they actually accomplish in a game. That said, imo a truly dominant defense just doesn’t give up those third and longs.

I don’t disagree about knowing the game situation and how important it is to manage a possession. But whenever Josh sees Cover-0, he has the green light and he has for several seasons now, even under Daboll. I’d bet that Dorsey got in his ear after that one series. But Allen is gonna take his kill shots if he sees the opportunity. That’s also about trusting his defense as well. All that said, Josh needs to know when to rein it in at times.

Nobody complained last week either, when Josh hit Diggs on the bomb on 3rd and 10 with under nine minutes to play when only leading by five. They’re called kill shots for a reason. I hope teams continue to play Cover-0 because those plays are there to be made because our guys get open on those routes with freqency.

There were several attempts by Allen where he had to change the trajectory on shorter throws because DLmen wereq in his face and affected the throw. Also, it’s common to have a couple longer routes in order to clear the shorter areas. I’ll bet Josh and Co. are gonna smack themselves in the head while watching the film tomorrow because there were plays to be made on those shallower routes.

On to Jax? You think the Ravens are gonna beat the Bengals tonight? Gutsy call and I’d love to see it.
