Isaiah Simmons might be an answer for the Bills at MLB
K-9 replied to gjv's topic in The Stadium Wall
The LBs listed in the post I responded to were all LBs expected to compete for that middle role so I was specifically thinking of MLB in my post. If he can quickly grasp McD’s concepts, I think we will see him as the starting MLB sooner than later. McD certainly isn’t shy about starting a young rookie there. He has all the physical attributes required for the position as I don’t think his lighter weight is a limiting factor in the least. And his freakishly long arms for a man of his height are an advantage as well in both shedding blocks and in pass defense. I hadn’t seen much of if any of him before we selected him and at first blush I was like others thinking it was Bernard 2.0. But after a deeper dive into his video it became clear to me why we took him. He’s more instinctive, trusts those instincts and plays fast as a result. I think he’s farther along than Edmunds was at the same stages of their careers. While Kincaid and Torrence pique my interest, I’m looking forward to watching his progression the most. -

I have to disagree. If Williams pans out, he is capable of being a three down LB. He’s already better in coverage than the other three listed. -
Allen was considered a massive gamble only by talking head pundits spewing nonsense about an arbitrary 60% completion threshold and how nobody with his college numbers ever made it in the NFL. And people just ran with that narrative as if it were gospel. But NFL scouts and GMs never considered him a “massive gamble” in the least. After his 2016 college season, he had cemented himself as a future top 10 pick in the draft. They were able to review every pass attempt at Wyoming and break it down in detail, including with input from his coaches. Why? To add the context necessary to make a more informed analysis. Taking head pundits simply lack the time and resources necessary to vet prospects to that level of scrutiny. Especially QBs prospects, which are the most difficult to project. That’s just those aspects that pertain to his physical ability to succeed. Allen’s aptitude for the position, from both a schematic and leadership ability standpoint was off the charts. Something, again, his critics weren’t privy to. He blew people away with his recall ability and whiteboard breakdowns. Daboll said he never saw anyone like him when it came to that mental aspect. I’ve heard that echoed by a few others as well. The only real concern about Allen was his sheer inexperience at the position as he didn’t attend elite QB camps since middle school nor make it his singular focus in high school. But everyone agreed that could be mitigated with time in a pro system with pro coaches learning the intricacies of the position. As it turned out he wasn’t afforded the time and instead was forced to start much sooner than hope for. And his progression speaks well of all the things the scouts and GMs got right before he was drafted. Lucky us.

There were reports that the elbow injury impacted his ability on swing passes and screens so that makes sense. He certainly didn’t have trouble rippin’ it on straight rope, though. That pass to Diggs to set up the win against Detroit was a rocket. As was the game ending play against the Jets just two plays after sustaining the injury. Nearly 70 yards to Davis on a rope down the left sideline that beat Sauce Gardner. Davis could have caught that ball.

This is irrefutable as they are one of the least blitzing teams in the league and that is directly related to their front four and quick LBs who can close and cover quickly.

There are any number of plays during the course of a game that we can look at, but some are far more egregious than others. Cook’s run didn’t win the game for them, it just made the game seven points closer with us still up 10 at the time. But our failure to prevent that 4th and 18 conversion with two minutes left directly prevented us from winning that game.

Loved the scene with Shah saying teams really wanna win the Emmy more than the Lombardi because it’s heavier. 😂
-
The goal line fumble never should have been able to happen in the first place. Vikings had a 4th and 18 at their own 27 with two minutes to go and our crap D couldn’t make a stop. 4th and 18! We stop that one play and it’s victory formation for the win instead of the sequence that followed.

I doubt any NFL team is ignorant of the still pending civil case and until that’s resolved I doubt any would welcome the distraction in season. The public tend to dismiss civil suits as less serious, but while the bar for the jury to find guilt is lower, the charges filed in them are often very serious, as is the case here. That said, imo her attorney is doing her a great disservice given the DA findings. That will carry weight in the courtroom, regardless.

Pretty sure it’s Dalai Lama just having fun.

Love, it! Good to see ya and nice to have you back, Spags. Don’t ever change.

Yes, and that’s why I couched my remarks with the term “on paper.” That said, there are a number of different ways to line up Kincaid in order to exploit a matchup other than in the slot. I’ll have to wait and see how easy it is for CBs to match up though. At 6’4” and 240lbs, he is four inches taller and nearly 50lbs heavier than average CB. But I think they will try to force LB matchups more often. But I’m more concerned about the O line and whether or not it’s improved enough to at least play the Jets D line to a draw more often than not. That’s another way double TE sets against their D might help as well. It will be interesting to see what Dorsey schemes up.

I agree that last year the Jets became a matchup problem for us, but I wasn’t surprised as Joe Douglas built them with that exact result in mind. He knows that winning the division is always job one after all. But the Bills, on paper at least, addressed two key factors in the matchup issue by improving the O line and adding a viable outlet threat in Kincaid. Double TE sets with two legit receiving threats at the position can give teams like the Jets problems. But the OL must hold their own for it to work, obviously.

Yep. Always been a player’s league and always will be.

Can you link us to all your posts saying this last year? You know, before anyone had 20/20 hindsight on the matter?

My discussion with @Docassumes Araiza is not on trial given the exculpatory evidence in the DA’s report. It pertains only to other potential defendants.
-
Araiza is the plaintiff attorney’s only cash cow it seems. And since he wasn't at the location of the alleged gang rape at the time it was alleged to have happened, I don’t understand why the civil suit against Araiza hasn’t been dropped. Previous reports indicated that the police know whose DNA was recovered in the rape kit analysis, so I wonder if it’s as simple as those other guys claiming it was someone else.
-
I think we’ve already agreed on that. And in a criminal case you could really hammer that home. But in a civil case, that hospital report and rape kit results might be much trickier to navigate. As I asked previously, how often do women who like rough sex end up in ER rooms being treated for injury and administered a rape kit exam? Something clearly got out of hand. How much of an onus is on the men to recognize that and stop? What’s a reasonable expectation? I honestly don’t know, but I could see a lawyer exploring the concept.
-
Perhaps when the civil suit is resolved? Araiza still has that very real legal matter to focus on at the moment. Watch out for that windmill!
-
That’s certainly a possibility and shouldn’t be discounted. I wonder how many women who are into rough sex end up going to the hospital, get treated for bleeding vaginas, bruises, abrasions, and get rape kit examinations that show the presence of DNA from multiple men.

I can say it because my experience as a 63 year, life long citizen in this country has proved it over and over and over again. I think your level of cynicism has a lot to do with your lack of faith in your fellow countrymen.
